you could stitch some cloth grips designed to slide over the edges of cast iron ends or purchase silicone grips for your batard pans. I have cloth grips for one of my pots and it's a game changer for removing it from the oven or balancing while serving, etc. Because it has quite some weight too it, you could even look into making a double pocket oven mitt or picking one up from kmart
absolutely beautiful bread,,i also only use my stores cheapest plain and self raising flour, and never had a complain, with my bread/cakes/scones etc, we use what we can afford to fill our tummies, and you nail it everytime xxxx
yass! I waited 5 days from upload to watch so I could pay super attention haha. I haven't baked one in a while because I got de-motivated. Thanks for sharing!
I like your take on putting baking bread into the rhythm of your family and making it work for you. It looks fantastic! Thank you for sharing your wisdom.❤
I spent many years cooking on a bbq and i mastered everything from cookies to cakes to lasagna to Yorkshire pudding Our oven was out of order for almost 4 years But i have never mastered bread You are a rockstar Nyssa Please keep all these amazing inspirational videos coming
There's definitely a bit of a different skill set to it! hehe, but I can do nearly everything well on it, sponge cakes end up a bit wonky lol, but nearly everything I have managed! :D
I’m so so sooo glad I found your channel!! I’ve been looking for Australian scratch cooking/food preservation/Thermomix channel for ages, I feel like I hit the motherload!
I definitely think it is important, if you are going to approach baking your own bread or really doing most things from scratch, you need to find the rhythm that works for you and yours, trying to fit someone elses rhythm into your lifestyle is just going to make it seem all too difficult!
You amazed me again ❤ I Love the pans. I'm going to Amazon to see if I can find one. Much love and stay warm. We're having 100+ degree farenheit here😮😮
Have you ever done it over a fire during burn offs? At the end of winter we do burn offs. Not big ones as our block is tiny. But once everything is tried we do mini firepit burns offs and roast marshmallows whilst the bandicoots sit around us enjoying the fire too. I feel like we should be using this time more efficiently. Even more so when the smoke keeps the mozzies away 😆
We used to do a bit of a burn around Apollo's birthday, a bit of a celebration type thing, but lately we haven't been doing much in the way of burnoffs at all, the weather is so unpredictable and with Just D and I and all the kids we hesitate, I know it is good to get rid of excess fuel by burning off some of it, but we don't have much in the way of cleared space to do it and the effort of bringing it all to that spot.. urgh lol. I do make the bread in the wood stove though! But its not in prime position atm, another reason why we need to get the kitchen sorted! :D
@@OurSmallFootprintyou may be able to get the fire brigade involved to do a load reduction burn - my neighbor is planning one for late September but she may have left it too late.
Beautiful, Beautiful Bread! What a great tutorial video. You are a natural teacher Nyssa. Thank you, We could see it, hear it, smell it and practically taste it!
I love, love, love a good sale! It looks like your new cast ware will be multi-purpose as you should be able to use the top and/or bottom as vessels for cooking, baking, stewing, frying. GREAT PURCHASE, Nyssa.
I loved this , came at the right time for me . That’s my problem no rhythm I just get impatient and wonder why I’m trying so hard, plus not a lot of encouragement from the husband , so I feel like I’ve failed before I get started . Anyway I’m trying this again and I’ll let you know if my husband shows up on your doorstep you will know. Lol , he knows how to process chickens gs
Hehe, yes, you need to work it in so its just another task, within your day! and your end result bread might be different to what I want my end result to be! I am lucky though, Darryl does love my sourdough hehe, sometimes he requests a change from loaves, for like bagels or something, but in general, he'd be happy to eat my bread every day lol.
Hi Nyssa. Have seen that your area is on catostrophic fire conditions tomorrow. I hope that all goes well with you and yours through this worrying time.
I've had many many iterations over the years, the bakers have given me some great results compared to what I used to do! I've been really impressed with them, but in the end, I think its just perseverance, and making one loaf at a time, it might take just that little bit longer hehe. There are some perks to having to make so much food, I improve faster! lol
I thought both breads of each bake looked absolutely delicious you had my mouth watering 😋😋😋😋 Really good video Nyssa ENJOYED IT 👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you for sharing ❤❤ Love from the UK x
Lovely looking bread - I bake sourdough bread but also use breadmaker to make the dough if I don't have enough time for sourdough. I use my cast iron pots (Dutch oven) to bake my sourdough as I have round one and a oval one. My sourdough starter works better if I feed it rye flour but I use just bread flour to make the actual dough. Petra (Tony's wife)
That bread looked amazing! I'm imagining the crunch of the bread, especially if spread with butter! I'm still working out our pizza oven with regards to temperature . It's too hot when the fire is blazing, but also cools down quickly, especially if the weather temperature drops quickly. Cooka a mean roast lamb and baked veg though.
I think its totally worth doing, I do think you have to find what works for you, because each household is so different, but definitely worth attempting to make it work! :D
At the moment, because I only bake two loaves at a time, it's normally about every 3rd day, we can easily eat an entire loaf between the 8 of us in one meal, but I like to intermix other types of bread in there too, some focaccia, some flat breads etc.
Thanks for a great video, terrific explanations!
Lovely lesson!!! Thank you so much!
It looks so good. Thank so much for sharing.
Great bread tutorial, please keep them coming.
I think it looked beautiful and yummy 🎉🎉

Naww, welcome, and Thankyou! :D
Ooh I love the olive oil tip.
Thank you. I’ll have to give that a try. ❤❤❤
I love a bit of olive oil in my dough anyway, and so I find that it works really well to help handle the dough! :D
Such wisdom: fit bread-baking into the rhythm of your family life or you won’t bake bread. Very nice bread bakers. The bread looked beautiful!!!

Going to be a long summer I think :s

I am new to sourdough so I really enjoyed this. Wish mine looked like yours being a widow I only make one loaf at a time.

Apparently I'm relaxing to listen to, not that my kids or husband would agree.... lol! So, good break :D
Those cast iron bread bakers are a real game changer. What a great deal on them too! I bet they were really tasty, they looked amazing
Watching this while I make wraps lol bread is on the mind!
Hehe, bread is always good! all types of bread! :D

I think its totally worth doing, I do think you have to find what works for you, because each household is so different, but definitely worth attempting to make it work! :D
Beautiful loaves of bread. How many times a week do you have to do the process? They remind me of asiago loaves I used to get in the states.
At the moment, because I only bake two loaves at a time, it's normally about every 3rd day, we can easily eat an entire loaf between the 8 of us in one meal, but I like to intermix other types of bread in there too, some focaccia, some flat breads etc.
when you've a moment I sent you a DM. Cheers Robyn
