What a F-ck'n Awesome Show! Denny Laine on Jonesy 's Jukebox! I was just watching Wings and Moody Blues the other week. It is always great to see Artists who laid the foundations still doing what they love most!
It was really enjoyable listening to this. Jonesy's style of interviewing is so laid back and casual and the way he just teases information out of his guests; it's more conversation than formal interview. It's like sitting in the room with them. It's good to know Denny Laine is still out there and making music. He seemed to have been just cut loose like dead wood at the end of Wings by the knight (Paul), but always a very talented player and comes across like a really nice guy. The jamming together was really nice too. Another great interview for the archives for Jonesy's Jukebox. :)
Great to see Denny Laine on Jonesys~!!! Big WINGS fan....love all those years he was with them. Just listen to WIngs Across America...great live album. Id love to see Denny Laine in concert.
Ha! A Birmingham London outro jam. Sweet. It's great watching Steve investigate his musical heritage. I'm British and I'm learning a lot about my music culture I didn't know before. I hope non Brits can follow the banter. RIP Denny Laine
Rick, I’ve always sung that line in my head, for years. Glad , and not very surprised, someone else altered the lyric that way. Now, we need to convince McCartney to sing it way onstage. I’m not hopeful, frankly. Are you?
Flippin' brilliant..Steve..i love the way you have a conversation with your guests as opposed to interviewing them. Did You No Wrong and Lonely Boy...are my two faves. Twelve Bells ..the best.ian..Nottm.
I enthusiastically commented before listening to the full episode. Mr Jones identifies the musician whose name he was trying to remember as Mose Allison at 10:35.
Mull of Kintyre is still the best selling (non-charity) single of all time in Britain and the first single to sell over 2 million in the UK where it spent 9 weeks at number one. I read in a McCartney bio written by Laines ex-wife that Denny was hard up for money (after Wings broke up) and asked for a loan from McCartney, Paul refused but said he would buy all of Denny's publishing (for a bargain price of course) Denny had no choice but to sell.
Mose Allison.., Jonesy. Young Man Blues. In the early days Townshend would say something like '....., a jazz sage named Mose Allison. This one's called 'Blues....., Young Man Blues' '.
Mull of Kintyre was the biggest single of the decade(70's) in the United Kingdom. It remains the biggest selling single ever besides Bohemian Rhapsody. While it almost did nothing in the states. A musical anomaly of sorts.
I remember reading in I'm with the Band by Pamela Des Barres that Denny would blow off Miss Catherine James and their son Damian back in the day but Denny probably had his reasons.... good interview Jonesy!
"Wonderful christmas time" and the "Frog Song" are embarrassing AND depressing. Worst though is "Temporary Secretary" which they tried to sell as "futuristic"
It was probably the one song that the older folks bought that year, the young punks were buying everything else without concentrating on only one particular single or album...look who was starting out in 76/77...the Clash, Sex Pistols, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, the Stranglers, the Damned, Pretenders, Siouxie and the Banshees, the Jam to name several great bands/artists.
Michael Frazia I think in Christmas 77, just maybe, Jones was a bit tied up being in the most important band in the world at the time to give a fuck about Mull of fucking Kintyre
denny seemed a gentle soul even with all of jonesy's detours. lovely man and will be missed.
40 years ago I never thought I'd see or hear Steve Jones jamming with Denny Laine!!!!
RIP Denny.
Great interview.
The last three minutes when Jones and Laine play acoustic guitars
is the best music I've heard Jonesy ever play with anyone else here.
Always love seeing that there’s a new Jonesys Jukebox on the Tube.
Jam at the end was just - beautiful - special - and a joy to hear. Thanx guys !! Peace. Rx

Denny is very soulful. Love it. Great job
Great to see Denny Laine on Jonesys~!!! Big WINGS fan....love all those years he was with them. Just listen to WIngs Across America...great live album. Id love to see Denny Laine in concert.
Another excellent show Jonesy - thanks.
I was really into 'Wings' back in the day 🎙️▪️ I remember London Town and Denny Laine▪️
Awesome interview Jonesy! I get more out of yours than anyone else's. Denny looks great! So young. Music keeps us all young!
Ha! A Birmingham London outro jam. Sweet. It's great watching Steve investigate his musical heritage. I'm British and I'm learning a lot about my music culture I didn't know before. I hope non Brits can follow the banter. RIP Denny Laine
denny laine is in my ears and in my eyes there beneath the blue suburban skies
Love Denny, great artist!!
Denny Laine is in my ears and in my eyes ;) Beatle chords even...
Rick, I’ve always sung that line in my head, for years.

Now, we need to convince McCartney to sing it way onstage. I’m not hopeful, frankly. Are you?
Love listening these legends ; they have many interesting thins to tell...
What a great show!!
No wonder Paul chose Denny, he is a great musician and can reel of anything to add a gentle solo into the writers work. Cool Brummie.
That was beautiful!
Great show. One of the best i reckon.
Thanks Jonesy's.....Keep the faith.....
Brilliant stuff and mentioning his Birmingham City FC fan made my day. Top man
Great interview
I wish the interviews were longer!
Tasteful jam, Jonesy doesn't sound half bad on acoustic!
In Denny Laine there is a barber selling photographs.
Bravo!!
Philip Kearney Of every head he’s had the pleasure to know?
Here beneath the Moody blue urban skies
That was sweet!
Flippin' brilliant..Steve..i love the way you have a conversation with your guests as opposed to interviewing them. Did You No Wrong and Lonely Boy...are my two faves.
Twelve Bells ..the best.ian..Nottm.
The improvising at the end reminds me of the style of English folk music from the ‘60s
enoyable!! The greate Denny Laine who made Wings sound like it did!! I wish he and paul could do some work together these days..but
The name of the jazz guy Steve is trying to recollect may be Mose Allison, whose "Young Man Blues" The Who covered.
I enthusiastically commented before listening to the full episode. Mr Jones identifies the musician whose name he was trying to remember as Mose Allison at 10:35.
"No Words" is a great song on the "Band on the Run" album. It's the most Beatley song. Of course, Denny wrote it!
I wish they would play the music !
Spot ON! Mates!

Just great
Nice harminizing between Jonesy and Denny :)
That end jam tho!
Does anyone know what model that Carvin guitar is? I’ve been unable to find it online. Wonderful tone.
I know Wings, I know the Moody Blues, but KLOS please start telling us more in the description so I don't have to Google every guest please!
poor you
Mose Allison.., Jonesy. Young Man Blues. In the early days Townshend would say something like '....., a jazz sage named Mose Allison. This one's called 'Blues....., Young Man Blues' '.
That was good. Denny Laine....Penny Lane....Tavistock....William Shepherd...Billy Shears Pepperpot.....Can someone do an interview on this?
I suspect Denny has a story or two to tell
@@adrianc1264 Good old Brian Hines.
Fucking Brilliant ❤️😎
Thanks You So Much
Denny has always looked to me like if John and Paul had a blood relation in common.
and I put the well deserved thumb up number 100
Excellente
great players..
Nice stuff
Mull of Kintyre was the biggest single of the decade(70's) in the United Kingdom. It remains the biggest selling single ever besides Bohemian Rhapsody. While it almost did nothing in the states. A musical anomaly of sorts.
Mose Allison is the guy you were thinking of Jonesey.
...and not one mention of 'You Know Who' ?! - :)
RiP.
Nice jamming
I remember reading in I'm with the Band by Pamela Des Barres that Denny would blow off Miss Catherine James and their son Damian back in the day but Denny probably had his reasons.... good interview Jonesy!
Please have that guitar player from Queen back on again. So interesting to listen to him. Not just a musician but a astrophysicist my goodness
Saying the Mull of Kintyre is in middle of Scotland is like saying the Florida Keys are in the middle of the USA
He put a random reference to Loch Lomond in there as well... strange geography...
Mose Allison is who you said Townsend liked, I think
Jonesy should get a little Yamaha thr 10 in the Studio.
Say what you want But Mull of Kintyre outsold all the punk music that was out in England in 77/78
"Wonderful christmas time" and the "Frog Song" are embarrassing AND depressing. Worst though is "Temporary Secretary" which they tried to sell as "futuristic"
So did baked beans
It was probably the one song that the older folks bought that year, the young punks were buying everything else without concentrating on only one particular single or album...look who was starting out in 76/77...the Clash, Sex Pistols, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, the Stranglers, the Damned, Pretenders, Siouxie and the Banshees, the Jam to name several great bands/artists.
I might be wrong, but I dont think Denny gets a credit for No Words on 'Band on the Run' . Can't be bothered fact-checking.
I like this show, but it is recorded so quietly. Please turn up the master.
So interesting to see this. And also to see Steve Jones with an acoustic guitar.
Actually Robert Plant is a Wolves supporter.
Hahahaha
lol. Barmy git.
Kidaminster aswell
Jamie Stevens heh. Naturally.
Sorry Denny, you met Billy in the diplomats
Mose Allison
Nice guy and not moody at all :-)
I didn't know Martin O'Neil could play guitar.
Laine is a bit of a name dropper.
stollypop ....it's not name dropping if your friends with & have worked with the people you mention....
He sounds exactly like Dave Davies
Not exactly 😅
He should have asked him about any birds he met in the 60s ?
He does that in the longer version if you can find it. Very interesting stuff.
Robert Plant supports Wolves!!
In Denny Lane the barber shaves another customer ..........
that was excellent. and nice to know hes a bluenose! shame they left out clint warwick from hallof fame - used to go to school with his son
white boy blues...
The big joke amongst English blues players in the 60s was "Can A Blue Man Sing The Whites?" The English do have a great sense of humour. 😊
Very good apart from Jonesy doing what I have on the train every morning - I do not want to listen to your snot
Was mull of kintyre a hit? Really jonesy? Either you are pretending to have no real musical knowledge or you have no real musical knowledge
Actually it wasn't a hit in the US.
Huge song in Ireland.
If you were into punk at the time, then I don't think you took too much notice of the charts.
Michael Frazia I think in Christmas 77, just maybe, Jones was a bit tied up being in the most important band in the world at the time to give a fuck about Mull of fucking Kintyre
Michael Frazia jonsey is kidding. It's his daft humour all us Brits have
Denny lay off Paul's hair-dye.
The Rock and Roll hall of fame is a joke. In principle alone, it's the antithesis of rock and roll.
The "jazz guy" was Charlie Parker.
nope it was Mose Allison
Mose Allison is who you said Townsend liked, I think
