In this video, I demonstrate how to fuse two pad drills. Drill #1 is a jab/cross/hook/elbow. Drill #2 is a "Crash & Clinch" to deal with a barrage of hay-makers followed by knees and elbows. It's a great way to mix up your pad work and keep you on your toes.
Iain Abernethy taught the the "two hands up crash & clinch" at a 2018 seminar in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

love this, really enjoying this instructors take on making Shotokan a little more grounded so when you bow out of the dojo, you can honestly say I practiced some technique , padwork , misdirection, parry maneuver ,ground basics. I hate this "I learned all the kata curriculum give me Black Belt" horseshit.

Your video’s timing is super ironic. The Karate Combat League started having fights again, and just streamed their newest 10 fights tonight. I guess Karate is getting a boost all around, and people are getting more interested in fight application. If Jesse, Ian, and you keep your content up, maybe TMA will have more positive PR for once.
    Great video by the way.

Those of us in the practical karate field have a lot of work to do to make karate relevant again. I'm not sure if I deserve to be included in the same sentence as Jesse and Iain but I appreciate your compliments none-the-less. Happy training!

Great stuff; it is nice to see reality finding it’s way back into karate.

If by, "No shotokan", you mean that the techniques shown in this video are not from Shotokan then I think you need to look closer. Drill #1 is simple enough with punches and elbows which can be any "style". Drill #2 comes straight from Heian yondan (clinch and knee strike) and Tekki (control the head and elbow strikes).
