      Thank you, Steven! I’m glad it is appreciated! Sometimes I do get negative feedback, due to the lack of talking, but I also feel that there is room for a channel like this. I have another RC channel for people who like a more personal approach. Maybe I will change things though. Not sure. It takes too long to edit these non-talk-videos. But thank you for the feedback. And - I definitely enjoy your videos for the same reason others have mentioned.
    You go into detail, You editing is well thought out, and your reviews don't sound like a paid advertisement. I don't remember the first one of your reviews I ever watched but I'm glad I did, and glad to be a subscriber.

      Thank you so much for the kind words, Larry! We have a great RC community here on youtube so I have received a lot of help too from other RC friends along the way 🙂 Yeah, wish I sometimes could be of better help here, but I do get comments every day, so it can be hard to keep up (not quite 20K subscribers though yet ... ). But I am glad you liked my videos 🙂 I like to show the models in a fashion of ‘this is what you get’ so viewers can make up their own mind if they like it or not. • @rcbustanut2057
    @rcbustanut2057 4 роки тому +1

    Thanks a bunch for taking the time to make an incredible video showing all the parts side by side. I just purchased the A959B right in the middle of this video, my best offer was just accepted on ebay as I was watching lol. I was curious if they had gone metal gears in the difs due to the 540 motor, guess not lol. I may have to see if they make a metal version.
    I had a pxtoys 9302 & both difs stopped working properly after only about 8 runs, no bashing or off road, just paved roads. The gears were plastic on both difs. Not sure if that's what caused the failure, too much power for plastic gears.
    But I can't wait for this guy to come in, he looks fun. Meanwhile I'll continue to race my wltoys 12423, finally got that fixed. Servo died & i blew a capacitor & flyback diode on the 540 motor by running it on a 3S lipo lol. Live & learn 😬
    Keep up the awesome work! 👍

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 роки тому

      Good you got the 12423 fixed. Looks like a cool WLToys too. Well, this B-version didn't have the metal gears, but I've heard from others that their units came with metal gears. So one never know waht one gets, it seems, with the B-versions. Well, pavement/asphalt can be really hard for the gears actually, if the tires got a lot of grip and one starts up with full throttle/punch. I think I just destroyed the gears of a brand new ZD racing that way too a couple of days ago :-) Video coming up.

    • @rcbustanut2057
      @rcbustanut2057 4 роки тому +1

      @@NordicRC oh, interesting, I thought for sure the asphalt would be easier on the gears. Good to know!! It's a good thing the A959B comes with throttle trimming on the controller, because this one's for my kid. It's to replace the pxtoys 9302 that the diffs got burnt out. It was too fast & has no throttle trim. They do have metal diffs for the 9302, maybe I'll upgrade it to brushless too lol 😄

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 роки тому

      Well, the more grip, the harder the start, the harder for the gears. Best advice with a lot of grip is to go easy on the throttle when starting, pressing the throttle slowly, accelerating slowly (in the beginning). It's just hard to resist the throttle. I never learned it :-) On loose dirt etc. the tires/wheels will have less grip, and spin a little more, which will put less strain on the gears and motor. But of course, really rough terrain can be hard for the gears/motor/ESC too. The A959-B comes with the same controller as the A959. With no throttle dual rate (= which enables you to sett the max throttle lower etc.). The A959-A is the only A959 that comes with throttle dual rate.

    • @rcbustanut2057
      @rcbustanut2057 4 роки тому

      @@NordicRC just got in today the A959B... That car in out of control 😄 It's pretty fast!! The controller does have throttle trim buttons, but they don't seem to do much change. I did notice this guy gets pretty hot & quickly, the battery & even the battery wires leading to the ESC were quite hot. This doesn't happen on my wltoys 12423, which also has the same 540 motor. Battery barely even gets warm by the time it dies. Not sure if this is normal for this car or there's a current overdraw problem with this car.

    Awesome review! 👍 I'm a beginner n mostly use indoors, so more inclined to buy the slower A959 'n probably upgrade the battery for some extra life. How do I know if I'm buying the newer model with the metal main shaft and not the older one with plastic shaft?

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Nash29! If I where a beginner and should use it indoors I would probably get the A959-A. It’s sort of a ‘beginner/indoor A959’ with throttle dual rate (which means you can turn down maximum speed with full throttle). Got an unboxing video with it and next up I got a short video where I run it indoors. But, yes, downside is the small (Li-ion) battery and the plastic main-shaft. If you decide you do not need the Dual Rate the new A959 (with the 2S 1100 mah LiPo battery and metal shaft) is the best choice though. I think if it is the new version with the metal shaft the dealer probably mentions it in the description box. I know Banggood do (if they have not changed it). If it doesn’t mention it, I would say you probably do not know if it is the one untill you check it on arrival. On the other hand, it’s a very cheap upgrade that you always can purchase later on. And yeah, the A959 would have some serious run time with the 2S 1500 mah battery from the A959-B 🙂

      @NordicRC  5 років тому

      Hi Robert! If I remember correctly they have some small alloy inserts/heat sink. Mosfets? Motors? In my experience the A959-B motor gets really hot, and the A959 motor is okay.

      @@NordicRC Already one step ahead of you haha. I ordered the heatsinks today. Hopefully they'll arive at the same time as the 959b. I wonder why the motor runs so hot though? It has a cooling fan internally. Maybe I'll replace the motor with a proven motor like a Mabuchi RS-540 27 turn.

    First of all I have watched a lot of videos about this car but the quality of your videos really stands out So great job
    I want to buy the b-version and make it slower Do you have any suggestions on how to do that? I have read somewhere that the easiest way to do that is by replacing the motor with another one that has 70t? That would make it much slower but would increase the run time I have no idea which motor to buy for that so any help will be appreciated :-)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  5 років тому +1

      Thank you so much for the kind feedback, Robert. Spend a lot of time editing, so I really appreciate it. I'm not sure why you would wanna buy the B-version and make it slower? But yes, a slower turn motor could do the job since the gear ratio with the 540 motor mount system is more-or-less hard to change. You can buy cheap brushed 540 motors everywhere. Even good companies like RC4WD makes them in the range from 20T to 80T. Never tried another motor in the B-version though, so not sure how it would behave. Myself, I prefer the standard A959. It got plenty of torque, plenty of top speed for the everyday run and quite good run time compared to the B-version.

      @@NordicRC You're welcome You just really can see the effort you put into your videos and thank you for your reply.
      I understand that most people want to go faster, but I want to buy this car for my young son. He doesn’t care about speed at this age. He just wants to drive a cool RC Car and not for 8 minutes, but much longer :-) .
      Now I found this reply in a forum (RCgroups.com): “I have a 55T crawler motor on my A979B. Top speed is down to 35 km/h but runtimes are now 40+ minutes of bashing, and the motor barely gets warm”. So I thougt: that’s exactly what I want! :-). But I have no idea if he only changed the motor or also the batteries, ESC, etc.. Also I have no idea which motor he used. And maybe it’s not even true? I don’t know at this point.
      The reason I want to buy the A959B version is because I was under the impression that this is the improved version of the A959 (so improved quality?). I could also buy the A959 of course and slow that one down, but at the moment I can’t think of a reason why this would be a better choice.
      If you have any advice on this, could you please let me know? Otherwise I think I’m going to buy the B-version and a 540 55T motor and will just find out for myself. If you would like, I will share my results with you of course.

    Great video, sir! So the A version comes with a 380 type motor and the B version with a 540 motor, isn't? Combined with the enormous pinion and spur gear differences the B model owners got a little rocket... That's neat! On other side i wonder what is that little pcb component attached to the motor and what is intended for on the B model. My WLToys 12428 comes with the exact same piece. In fact i only saw that piece on WLToys models...

      Thank you very much, Jordi! Yeah, enormous pinion for such a little rig. No wonder the motor and ESC get's warm :-) Yeah, I've wondered about that too, but I think it's a timing/tuning device. Like when timing a 27T motor to run as a 25T motor. But I could be really wrong. I've searched for some answers on that, but no answers has been really convincing. Hope somebody who understands electronics more than me will make a video about it.

      Br1aNn88 YT The wheel axle? You can always inspect your battery. If it has been sitting in storage mode (basically resting at about 3.7v Per cell) it may be good. But check it visually first (puffed? swollen? If yes, get rid of it safely) and then check the voltage of each cell (if you have a LiPo checker or/and hobby grade charger) and then check if the battery can be balance charged to 4.2v Per cell.

    Question of the day. Are Vertex and WLToys the same company? When I received my latest A979B, it came in a box with a Vertex Logo, where WLToys used to appear in the upper left hand corner.
    Also - The instructions have a statement on the front that makes me think this is a knockoff.
    Annddd - The actual model number hidden in plain sight on the invoice says model 25BE.
    I've seen several UA-cam videos now with unboxing, and some of them have the WLToys box with the view window showing the truck inside, and several others have the Solid box with the Vortex Logo. Is WLToys getting ripped off by a copycat, or are they doing a brand name change, or does anyone know what's going on?

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 роки тому +1

      Never heard of a brand called Vertex. Did you mean Vortex? WLToys calls these the Vortex series. And sometimes they call them the Storm CC or Brave Pro. You will often find models from brands like HBX and WLToys all over the world, re-branded by other brands. 2fast2fun made a rebranded A959 called Magma that you can see in my channel, and others around. It's quite normal. Sometimes they are probably also ripped off, but often it's just a re-branded item with the exact same parts/car, but with a different box and color scheme or livery/decals.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  4 роки тому +1

      When I received it the Box had nothing to indicate what was in it except that on one side, there were 14 pictures of various WLToys 900 series vehicles and a little green checkmark under the one that said A979B,
      The disclaimer(?) on the front of the manual says " This instruction is suitable for a type of modle whose number is A979-B.
      It will be a Frankenstein Mod soon enough, so I am really just curious.
