I've been working on this tune for years. What I realized from watching your video is I need to pay more attention to the rhythmic feel of it. Loved this!

Hah, I worked in Mt. Kisco for a couple years. Nice area, with commerce serving several very posh residential communities close by. I wasn't aware of its residents being particularly more Irish than any other town in that part of the state, but it's only about 45 minutes' drive north of NYC (and easily city-accessible by train). Lovely tune and playing!

    Fair Play.
Hi Sarah, you added in some subtle variations. Do you make those out before hand or do you do them on "the fly"?

Hi Pat! Thanks for the comment :) Honestly I think these are ones that came up playing in sessions over the past few years, saved the ones in memory that sounded interesting and tried to forget the other attempts at variation! ha. Any particular way you like approaching variation?

@@sarahhale176 I suppose my question is.. Do you have any tips on composing or on how to include variations.
I copy other players variations and learn them that way. There's nothing spontaneous about any of my variations unfortunately.
      Thanks.

@@Kitiwake Ah I see yes I think you are right on with borrowing variations from other players, also do that all the time :) I suppose for a new tune or one I haven't spent a lot of time with yet, would always try to leave the first time through rather plain, then write the tune out on a piece of paper and plot where I want to add a few melody variations ... if you have 2-3 variations you enjoy for a tune and have a rough idea of where you want them to go, then drop them in in those locations, think that's a good way to approach! Will try to get some more coherent thoughts together on the topic, all the best!

HUP! One of my favorite tunes! It's actually the next one I had on my "to-learn" list, so it's awesome to have this video so I can get the tune! You gave it a wallop as always!
I posted a video yesterday playing McIntyre's Fancy...I've learned a lot and taken a lot of inspiration from your videos! ua-cam.com/video/VxWtEg_rPes/v-deo.html
