looking at these comments I don't know why some people are criticising her she is a very talented singer she is not.an.opera singer she has not been classically trained and to do this in a short time is impressive
You know, Ross: critics are very often persons, who cannot do anything rather good.. what is frustrating them. so there's only criticism left to make the talented feel bad ! :-)
Tbh, you can't blame claire - she tried her best but it's the coaches idea for the song.. they tell her to jump and claire asks how high. Kudos to her for having the balls to do it.
U have to admit for them to train for only a week or 2 for a performance like this, it's pretty hard... It may not be a true bel canto, but as a Popera piece, it will do... Villazon is too funny! :-)
Seems like a hard song & she did great considering that it is only 1 week of rehersals! At least she sounds more like an opera singer now unlike Joe McElderry in my opinion!
I think everyone is missing the point. This has nothing to do with Opera. This is TV entertainment. This is where ordinary pop singers demonstrate just how impossibly difficult classical singing is. This is poking fun at pop singers in much the same way as "Strictly come Dancing" pokes fun at celebrities' inability to master ballroom dancing.
Sooooooo awkward....at least Rolando got a huge kick out of it rofl! I don't know what to laugh at more, her dog colouratura, Itanglish, or the fact that the audience is actually applauding...
that was bloody amazing considering she only had few weeks of opera training.. I mean she's actually better than Katherine jenkins..
I know it's not as good as real opera, but this is AMAZING considering the fact she's only trained for such a short amount of time...

I agree.
Exactly
THIS is a HUGE step in any soprano.... little alone pop artist to opera... and her high notes were LOVELY...

Big talent, but isn't this too risky for her voice without adequate technique?

The biggest thing to work on is her breath control.
Brilliantly amazing voice. Love how Claire’s husband is always there. Such a lovely couple

But over a period of weeks with untrained singers attempting big arias like this they could seriously damage their voice.
..and if you would have trained ears you would have argued and criticized better...and more profoun:D
Those runs are hard, for someone with very little training (respectively) she executed them very well.
She should have won
second song and already a chaka chaka performance. well done claire you should have won i think

She's a bit "pitchy" here and there but thats a pretty good effort. With a bit more work she could do a serious performance. And she can act.
Not perfect, but very good and: SWEET ! But the orchestra... What the hell of bad sound...
Some really beautiful notes- She shouldn't be nervous :D
More can be done. Great voice great power it need$ lift
It was weird...
I can't understand the reason of doing things like that. For me it's a bit like therapist trying to be a surgeon.
Un incoraggiamento per il suo impegno.
Saluti dall'Italia...🙂
🇮🇹
So good considering she's not an opera singer and can't speak to language
Brilliant clare wow
i agree and also she was learning to sing in different languages
Estoy de acuerdo con acitipo totalmente, no me gusta .
those who r saying terrible...can u sing?
It's not necessary, to be honest. It's enough that you can hear :)
Sooooooo awkward....at least Rolando got a huge kick out of it rofl! I don't know what to laugh at more, her dog colouratura, Itanglish, or the fact that the audience is actually applauding...
she is not classically trained she's a popstar she is a very talented singer with a great voice she did well considering she's not an opera.singer
This was absolutely terrible. She was straining her voice way too much, Eugh. -.-
horrible !!!!
