NHL has a time limit in place to auto-block single videos that are over a certain length. It differs from game to game but usually around 13 minutes. They do this so people don't post full games, which I understand, but I just wish the limit was a little longer.
What makes some people so special when they are exceptionally good at what they do is that sometimes you don't even notice that they are even there. At the honor ceremony for Patrick Kane, for example, both, Ken and Mickey, were as quiet as a mouse and it was only when one of them cleared his throat at the end that I realized that I wasn't even live in the arena. Sometimes it's trivial things that can be special and for a short moment I felt I was there and can experience it in person. _Without wanting to bash anyone, I'm sure some other commentators would have rambled on about how emotional it all is and how they need to shed a tear, totally destroying the moment!_ *- who cares!* I hope that Ken and Mickey get some kind of recognition for their "lifetime achievement" at some point. Because it's not just the players on the ice, the coaches on the bench, the entire staff behind the team, but especially the commentators who plant the emotions in our heads. Without them the whole thing would only be half as beautiful and I can't imagine the Red Wings without Ken and Mickey, they're so close to the Wings for me!
Kane's crowd reaction is reminiscent of Howe's ovation at the All Star Game in 1980 - not as long - but every bit as genuine. You couldn't have scripted this game any better. Thanks for including that section awood.
What a treat for Chicago hockey fans. Two storied hockey teams, sister cities, celebrate two fantastic players. What a night to remember. Thank you, boyz, for a glorious tribute. "Thank you!!"
It’s the only move to make. It is so fucking hard to have such an incredible league legend fall into your lap like this with several good years left in the tank. Wat a gift! He’s got at least a few more solid years left IMO
Reimer is definitely the unsung hero of our season so far. Respect. This is a deep team, learning how to win together and as they do the goalie is keeping victory within reach.
I think you're looking at Chicago's position in the standings and writing them off. The second game of a back to back is always difficult, against a very fast and well coached team no less, and still they dominated stretches of hockey and found multiple opportunities for extended offensive pressure; moreso in the first and third I'll say but that's already "most" of the game. Mrazek is no slouch either. The Red Wings played well enough for a significant majority of the game, I have no idea where you get that they played badly other than that you were expecting another St. Louis game against what you felt was an even weaker opponent.
@@icedo1013 yes, this was a trap game. But it’s no excuse for how bad we played for most of the game. There are back to backs played many times in every season but it doesn’t make it okay to just not show up for 2/3 of the game
@@icedo1013 They really weren't good especially in the 1st period, but after the game against the Blues some of them had their tanks and heads empty and when you play against a team that basically only has their draft position in mind, it's sometimes difficult to find the right switch.
@@icedo1013 The amount of clear giveaways Detroit had in this game is what was troubling. I understand not having your legs but passing it directly to the opposition that many times is criminal. Next Back to back they need to work on if your refuse to move your feet, dump it in deep.
Man, that Kane tribute had me in tears. Mickey soaking it in and getting choked up made it all the more special. That is the pinnacle of athletic achievement, and a story book ending. Respect to our great rivals in Chicago, but Detroit wins the day. Chelios had his cups in Detroit, and Kane steals the show in the Winged Wheel on his retirement night.
"Detroit sucks!" and "Red Wings suck!" are very common chants for these games at the UC. I went last season and when Wings fans would chant LGRW, Hawk fans would counter with "DETROIT SUCKS" twice as loudly. It shows how the rivalry between these two franchises is alive and well, and I love it. 😄
if you mean cause Toews didn't attend this, well there is a story behind those two leaving Chicago that the Hawks did a pretty good job of keeping quiet and not letting blow up into a big publicly known issue. both players were forced out. they both intended to play out their remaining career w the Blackhawks, regardless of any rebuild. then were both told they were not welcome back at any price and would not be re-signed. it is suspected there is extreme bad blood between the two legends and the current leadership of the team. like so bad that I could see Toews not agreeing to attend something like this. Kane only attended cause it was on the schedule. and if you notice, his celly at the end of this game is almost angry. that anger isn't at the fans, it is at the narcissist boy GM of the Hawks and the activist female team president who forced them all out. it was and remains quietly a very bitter situation - he has landed on his feet w the Wings and now has a 2nd home, but that's just by his own strength and good fortune - the Hawks leadership meant to strand him injured and ruin his late career plans. the honors people expect him to get after his career from the team or at the arena in Chicago, he may not get. or he may not attend. i also expect him post-career if he stays working in the NHL to work for the Wings or somebody else and not the Hawks. and poor Jon Toews was literally forced into retirement. he's not in good health but i think he'd have gutted it out and tried to keep coming back, but only in Chicago. but they closed that door on him.
@@paulwt9783 I mean yeah all the above but you basically just went into more detail about what I was basically saying in the first place.. but yeah I kind of knew a lot of that.. I'm just happy someone else actually knows more detail on it
@@thewizardofoz511 Your initial comment was nothing like my comment. You said Kane and Toews weren't close, and that's why Toews didn't show for this game. No, they were very close. They experienced a lot of things together unique to the two of them that only the two of them can relate to or understand. And that includes right at the end when they both got kicked out of Chicago. They share the same hatred of the Hawks front office, and that's likely why Toews didn't attend.
Sadly Reimer's performance is getting kinda ignored........if not for him the Wings would've been blown out. I respect what Kane has done and is doing, but this season is becoming too much about him. I get it tonight but pretty much every game Bally has a feature on him. There's other players who are equally important.
I agree.. however I do think it helps in a sense of it let's the goalies play and be the best of themselves.. but recognizing other players and our goalies will be be just as deserved but they're time will come.. I get the Kane attention though

@@awood40 Aha had no idea. Thanks for information.
We appreciate you awood for providing coverage from the best broadcasting duo in the league. ❤ Amazing call by Ken and Mick. What a game.

That goal from Sprong will be on highlights for years to come. He sniped that puck while being tripped
I wonder if it is the first time 2 different teammates that wore same number in the same season 88 both scored in a game
Absolutely.
The shot, the slide, the goofy grin as it's in. Trifecta. 🍻
That was a well done tribute by Chicago, and thank you for showing it awood40
Thanks for including the Kane tribute. I was not able to catch the game last night.
The only other time I’ve heard Mickey cry was after the last game at the Joe!
That was really special what the did for Kane. Awesome. :)

Man, he was a thorn in my side for a long time. This is awesome to see and it’s wild he has this night in a wings uniform. You couldn’t make it up.
Aw man what a game.
Sprong has a hell of a season
Two parter = twice the fun!
Finally someone brought the Wood 🪵 on a legit highlight for this game with Ken and Mickey with the call 🎙
If the rest of the season goes well expect Yzerman to offer Kane a deal to retire on.
Fingers crossed. Such a joy to watch.

Stellar Awood!
Without a doubt the greatist Hawk player since Bobby, and Stan!
I'm really impressed with the Blackhawks fan (RW fan here), this is so cool
Wasn't the greatest game, but they pulled thru. Kaner....on Chelios night, was the icing on the cake. A win is a win, LGRW!
When it comes to being Showtime Kane is Able
I just wanted to beat these guys
Perron nudging Kane to do another round at 4:20. 😊

Wings played very bad for most of the game. But good teams win ugly games. So I’m just happy we got 2 points

What a great classy ovation by the Blackhawks faithful.

Hard to believe Chelios was in Detroit the longest of any team, 10 years, from 37 to 47
We need to lock Kane up too.
Only the sport of hockey can give you a memory like this.
How Classy. Love it !
Thanks pimp!

Aww, mick. Couldn't quite hold it in. Why he's the man.
I'm so glad that this game wasn't on another network. Nobody could've scripted the outcome better.

I couldn't tell what the fans were chanting after the Kane tribute? I know it was directed against Detroit. Anybody know what they were chanting?

I don't think Kane and Toews as close of buddys as people would like to think🤔
They were very close. Those old teammates officially weren't there for Kane, they were invited by Chelios for the ceremony.

Who purchased the movie rights to this perfectly scripted night for 88...
What an honoring event.
