    Great video Ben. At the top of the list of attributes for luxury you outlined, reliability/dependability should be the top attributes along with ride comfort, build quality, refinement and performance etc. I know Lexus is a bit slow to add the most up to date tech to their flagship vehicles, however when they do update the tech, it is usually dependable and reliable. Did this F Sport version come standard with the bird’s eye view display option? Or do you have to purchase some additional package to get it?

      You beat me to it. This is basically the same car that you can get for $40k used right now. The LS is supposed to compete with the 7-Series, and BMW is eclipsing Lexus right now. Lexus cover most of their engines in cladding in order to additionally reduce power train noise from entering the passenger cabin. With the engine cladding removed, you would be surprised at how fastidiously Lexus aligned all of the various hoses, cables and general engine bay items. It is a pity it is all covered up.

    I'm honestly not the biggest fan of the current look of lexus sedans. Not sure if it's been a while since they've received a proper re design, but I guess they appear a bit dated to me IMO. I will say that of all the sedans I've seen from lexus, it's looks pretty good and probably the nicest look of them currently.
    Edit: I think the steering wheel is kind of ugly though. I feel like im the only person that actually will dislike an entire vehicle if the steering wheel doesnt look nice. Ford and chevy are absolutely the worst offenders, but fortunately the newer chevys design language is cool and the new steering wheels in their updated cars are actually really nice. The ford exception is the bronco and mustang, the mustang wheel is easily top 3 for me. And the broncos have a similar satisfying squared unique look. But things like the malibu, or escape are so ugly it burns my eyes. The chevy wheel has a bizarre hour glass shape with no symmetry with a huge ugly design. And the ford has what i can only describe as a 'torso' like appearance. Im convinced they wanted to emulate a chest to signify toughness or something, its nice to have originality and your own defining looks w manufacturers, but they absolutely could have executed the style in any way and they chose to make an ugly ass wheel

    It cost less because it offers less. That doesn’t make it a bargain. It’s massively outsold by far more expensive cars. That tells the story right there. I like this car but traditional LS buyers didn’t and they left in droves. Reliability alone won’t cut it and to add insult to injury even its biggest fan consumer reports isn’t in love with it. A lower price doesn’t cut it either anymore. A more competitive car is needed.

      People are not buying flagship luxury sedans any more
      S class, 7 series, a8, ls sales are all down
      Most of these guys are buying luxury suvs & there are a lot of choices with wide price ranges

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne 3 місяці тому

      @@reddevil6585 Nope, the segment is dying excuse doesn’t work because the sales in this segment are still there but Lexus doesn’t get many of them. Yes the segment is down, but Lexus is down even further. The weakest die off first in a tough market. Again, the LS was the segment leader is sales in certain years, easily. That excuse is the same thing Detroit diehards give as to why Detroit is out of the sedan business. While the Koreans and Japanese still sell sedans.

      @@MercOne yes but it’s such a tiny sector now even increasing sales by 100 percent don’t make much difference. I know a lot of ls400 & ls430 used to get sold

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne 3 місяці тому

      @@reddevil6585 What you see on the street doesn't mean anything, the sales numbers are what matter. Where I live I see them constantly all day long. Again, skewed for the area. It has never be a huge sector either, there was always just a handful of cars in it. Saying it's tiny sector doesn't change the fact that this generation LS is not a success. No matter how you try to twist it, the LS500 is an also ran in a segment it used to lead sales wise. Cars that cost 30-50K MORE are outselling it, process that. It doesn't matter how big or small the segment is. That much of price difference back in the day ensured the LS was the best selling car in the segment by a mile, now it means nothing. The LS500 is lacking, that is the problem, not the segment shrinking.

    Everybody just keeps repeating this nonessential about reliability with zero to back it up. Kind of like Volvo being the safest.
    I have owned all of the them and I tried buying an LS and when I sat inside I just could not believe how cheap the interior is. They do a good job at the high visibility areas but in true Toyota fashion they cut corners everywhere else. Kind of like Quattroporte.
    I do not know how anyone can make the comment that MB interiors wear quickly? You don't think a 5 year old Lexus looks dated?
