Redtail SURFPERCH fishing at Table Bluff & Stone Lagoon

HOW TO SURFPERCH FISH: Humboldt County beach spots to fish for redtail surfperch. We use medium sized cooked shrimp from the deli section of Safeway. We cut the shrimp in half and put on a two hook rig on surf rods. We use your basic and cheap Shakespeare Ugly Stik spinning reel rods you can get anywhere online or at your local tackle store. Go around the incoming tide. You can keep perch that are over 10.5 inches long and 10 fish per license. We mark off 10.5 inches on our rod holders so we can easily hold up the fish to the mark while still on the hook so we can avoid trying to measure the fish on the sand. It's important to wash off all your fishing equipment after fishing to get the ocean salt off.
