The very first time when I watched this....when the ending credit rolled up she began to sing and her warm voice filled the whole room.... my eyes started to water up... I cried my eyes out, literally.... and I don't even know Japanese... but the feel is there... awesome! ^^
...and if you had lost your younghood turning around the world and with you a lot of friends, roadmates, and all the people you met around... you cry more again....
The music is so wonderful, and the old looking pictures that look they are from the early twentieth century add a great element of nostalgia and memories of happier times to the credits.
Films like this remind me that there is still beauty in the world, that there is still so much good. We hear the horrible things happening in the world every day in the news or in front of us and films like this serve as an example of a world that we should strive for. A world of flying, of laughter and warmth. It's hard to explain but this film and others in Ghibli's collection give me hope for a better future.
RubiEevee112 and also to give more than hope, the envy to do something as a human, something for the others, for our present and the humanity's future ! =')
Joe Hisaishi and Hayao Miyazali are those sort of guys that definitely make this world better. I wish I mastered jamanese just to appreciate this song more.
This is such a strong movie...he chooses to abandon human feelings like pain and suffering (sort of making him a pig), this also makes him unable to love humans. I think him turning into a pig represents his mental damage from the war.
I never tire of listening to this lovely song from Porco Rosso, and having the DVD ensures me of listening to it at any time. The departing long curve through the clouds by Porco is a fitting end to this charming movie enhanced by the song.
almost finished with my 3 year study in the military and after that its 2 years working. and we just finished a bbq with my classmates wich i would not be seeing for a long time this is how i kinda feel, its nice but its just bittersweet that 3 years of staying together comes to an end. with the original pictures replaced with my memories of the past 3 years its like saying goodbye to part of your life and to a family

To attach such a lovely song to the ending of such a movie as this is utterly charming. The mood would be lost if it were sung by other than a female singing in Japanese. Human emotion and creativity can transcend ugliness in this world.
Let's have an old tale once in a while, shall we? At that cafe that we always go to We saw horse chestnut trees by the window Spending a day on a cup of coffee Searching for the unseen tomorrow Everyone placed their dreams Blown by the hot wind of the changing era You felt the time flow with your whole body Didn't you?
Magistral!!!
That's why I curse every time when I think about Porco Rosso or Miadzaki: it's just too damn good. It's one of the best anime ever, with great atmosphere, world and a huge attention. I feel a soul in this film. But there's no animes like this! Right now the most popular anime is popular just because it has boobs in it, and even before no one tried this setting or feelings of such time - with heroic pilots, discovering the dream, in a world living as fast as never but still in love and calmness somewhere. There's no anime that can awoke that feeling of nostalgia as bright as this (for me; Miadzaki made the most of his animes with this feeling), and this is my problem. I came here to remember Porco Rosso, its beauty, characters and the world and ended up crying. I cried first time for a film and first time that hard for a song when I was watching this film, and I'm in tears again. I'm hitting the replay button.

As an italian, I think this film should be regarded as an heritage by our country.
Eh magari fosse così !😀
This was originally going to be a short film that was shown on flights but because of that the intro is in different languages
Tbh it should be registered to UNESCO as heritage of humanity
Porco Rosso/Marco Pagot padre della Patria.
but it's made by japaness😂
年を取らないとこの曲の深さには気づけないと思う。
とても良い曲。とても良い歌詞。
I'm on a train in Japan going from Fukushima to Fukuoka right now, the clear blue sky, the golden rice field, and this song, i shed my happy tears.
Bucket list! I can only imagine until the day comes.
Luck man! 😌
Ohhh beatiful experience ❤

good god you are so right
Agreed

1. watch Porco Rosso
2. listen to this song while reading the translated lyrics
3. cry
I was thinking I was the only who cried with this song :'( I love pigs since a child

This is a perfect example of the emotion that can be transmitted without words. It's why I listen to classical. Joe Hisaishi is a genius.
Ghibli movies age better than any other movie ever made. And most of not all of them never fail to make me cry
Miyazaki's masterpiece. In my humble opinion. None of his other films have the depth and beauty this one has.
It has planes and air pirates!
Porco Rosso is underrated.

I never thought a story about a flying pig could be so beautiful. :'( Such as fitting movie since I'm the year of the pig. :P When pigs fly~

His voice his beautiful (i'm french )
i really like the french dub so much! IMO the french dub is better :))
+Henry Francois Is the singer a man? 😱
Eylül Yıldırım No, the singer is a woman. Henry Francois was talking about Jean Reno, the actor who played Porco Rosso in the french dub of the movie.

lyrics(English)* translated by Enegori ua-cam.com/video/RpxXeNakyfY/v-deo.html
Let's talk about the old times for once.
The familiar cáfe we used to go.
A colonnade of horse chestnuts could be seen from the windows.
We made do with a cup of coffee all day.
Recklessly fumbling for unseen tomorrow,
Everybody entrusted the hope.
Blew by hot winds of the tempestuous age,
We felt the moment with all our bodies. Didn't we?
We slept on street sometimes.
We can't go anywhere. Together.
We had no money, but somehow lived on.
The poverty carried tomorrow.
So many thronged a small lodging house,
Frolicked till morning, and slept.
Every day was burning just like a storm.
We ran till we were out of breath. Didn't we?
Look at the only picture I have left.
The man with a mustache is you.
There are some friends
we don't know the whereabouts any more.
But no one can say
that everything of the day was empty.
They still must be dreaming endless dreams,
Must keep running. Somewhere.
Masterpiece all the way.

There were times I slept on the roadside
We couldn't go anywhere together
We didn't have any money, but we still managed
Poverty brought us the new day
We crammed ourselves in a small student flat
Causing a racket until the morning, and then we slept
Like a storm every day burned up
We ran till we ran out of breath
Didn't we?
i wish fio could sing this to marco and have him return with his face

最高だな〜
What orchestra's playing and what orchestra usually used for Ghibli? I'm surprised how fast they make the crescendo climax in such a short passage.
Can somebody tell me why everybody in the ending's a pig
It's oddly charming
Maybe all those people are carrying their own curse... One way or another.
Ozkar Ramoz Rivera Nice interpretation

Miyazaki likes pigs. Draws himself as one frequently in doodles.
Lawlzinator I've always thought it was because they were war hogs.
