Having been taught by a Paramhansa myself, I can say this. It's not about the words, the translation or any mind / form based aspect. This is the hinderance, the delusion. The presence is everything. There is no questioning. All you have to do sit in awareness. The awareness does the teaching. This is what Maharaji is pointing to. Don't look to another - look to yourself. Focus inwardly on that knowing that is prior to thought, identity and form. This is what meditation is. There is no identity or form in the state of meditation. There is no memory. Set yourself to this - in love - and you will ripen. Just 'be'. The master is a spontaneous arising of your true, steadfast, longing for yourself. The guru is you - however, you need a sat guru to point you to the subtleties of this... it's their presence, their sound, their being that points the way, not the words.

I met my sat guru last year. He is native american medicine man. His presence is the teaching. His silence is loud and he has taught me to look to myself. His silence and being have been the ultimate teacher. Its awesome that you were able to be in the living presence of Paramahansa Yogananda. He was a beautiful being. Blessings 🙏

      🐟 20. THE PRIESTHOOD:

A PRIEST (“brāhmaṇa”, in Sanskrit) is defined as a man who gives teachings and performs rituals on behalf of a particular religious tradition. He should possess all saintly qualities such as cleanliness (which, as they say, is “next to godliness”), peacefulness, austerity, intelligence, wisdom, renunciation, tolerance, patience, humility and of course, religiosity. This does not imply that a priest must possess those virtues to a perfect degree, but he ought to have each quality to at least a reasonably-high extent. Even if a man seems to be a genuine priest superficially, if he is severely lacking in even one of the priestly qualities, he cannot rightly be called a priest. A dumb priest or a dirty priest does not exist.
There are literally hundreds of thousands of individuals in this world who claim to be religious leaders/teachers of some kind. Most of them are either working-class guys, businessmen or women, acting under pretention. However, as mentioned in the chapter distinguishing enlightenment from liberation and awakening (Chapter 17), a genuinely-enlightened spiritual preceptor is VERY rare indeed. Even some of the teachings of universally-recognized Avatars (incarnations of the Godhead/Brahman) were far from accurate, what to speak of the teachings of lesser authorities! This lack of authentic spiritual guidance is the major reason for the decadent state of present-day society (and previous decadent societies), apart, perhaps, from the lack of legitimate government leadership (see Chapter 22 regarding illegitimate governance).
The most HEINOUS action possible is to persecute a Prophet or World Teacher ("jagadguru", in Sanskrit). Thus, exterminating thousands of workers is less sinful than murdering a World Teacher, because when a Prophet's mission is ended, or merely hampered by persecution, the whole of society suffers from lack of knowledge and direction. Only a wise person can find the logic in such a seemingly-audacious statement.
When the life of a World Teacher is constantly threatened, or he is assassinated (as in the case of so many great Prophets of the past, such as Lord Jesus Christ), society is likened to a chicken which runs directionless around the coop, just after its head has been severed. Unfortunately, the more we progress into this current dark epoch (“Kali Yuga”, in Sanskrit), the more society's head (priests/prophets) are being persecuted, and soon there will be hardly any ACTUAL spiritual guides remaining on the planet. At that point in time, the end of humanity is assured.
On occasion, “God” (or to be more precise, The Impersonal Self, acting via the preordained story of this universe) gives specific messages via chosen individuals, whether they are priests or not. However, such messages are usually intended to be spoken to an individual or group of individuals with specific (and normally temporal) repercussions for those individuals in question. This is akin to the ancient lineage of prophetic figures found in monotheistic traditions. Such “prophets” can NEVER replace a man who has evolved (over millions of lifetimes?) to be a fully-enlightened saintly prophet, appointed to teach highly-accurate concepts to humanity. Unfortunately, such enlightened prophets incarnate very rarely on earth, and when they do appear, are often assassinated by the illegitimate rulers of their nations, or by other demonic elements of society. Even the most vile political leaders have a certain proportion of the populace which adores them. However, virtually everyone despises the gentle, humble, holy men who dare speak the truth about the current state of society, and point-out the multitude of sins extant.
So, to put it succinctly, there may be hundreds of thousands of priests on earth at a given time, yet there are only an EXTREMELY small number of true sages, who understand life accurately, and are both willing and able to lead others to self-realization (“adhyātma-vidyā", "ātma-jñana", or “brahma-jñana”, in Sanskrit). As a general rule, the greater number of disciples following a particular teacher (“guru”, in Sanskrit), the more inaccurate are his teachings, because the truth is very difficult to accept. Unfortunately, the typical person wants to hear predominately sentimental tenets, which gives him or her merely emotional solace. The current World Teacher has never had a true disciple.
Many spiritual seekers, especially in the more esoteric paths, mistakenly believe that they have need of a guru ONLY until they’ve reached a certain level of enlightenment, or even that they have no need of a spiritual master at all. The main reason why every serious (male) religious practitioner (“yogi”, in Sanskrit) requires a teacher, is not so much to learn concepts, dogmas and rituals from his guru. The primary reason one needs a spiritual master, is so that he has a superior to serve, lest he devotes his life to self-serving pursuits. When a man is bereft of regular guidance from a master, he is most likely to stray from the path of righteousness (“dharma”, in Sanskrit). That explains why even Divine Incarnations (“Avatāra”, in Sanskrit) acknowledge their own masters with great reverence and rarely, if ever, disobey or contradict them.
It is perfectly legitimate for a man to abandon his spiritual master in favour of a NEW guru, for any reason he chooses, but ideally because he has outgrown the dogmas and/or rituals taught by his former teacher. No genuine spiritual master will feel resentment towards another person for any reason whatsoever, including towards a former disciple who has forsaken him for a new priest.
A priest subsists ENTIRELY Providentially, that is, he must depend solely on contributions from his followers/congregation/disciples, unless, of course, he is able to support himself independently by growing his own food and making his own clothing, both of which may consume an inordinate amount of time. Ideally, priests (that is, genuine spiritual teachers) ought to devote every available moment of their precious time to ministering to their communities. There is no such thing as a part-time priest, or even more ridiculously, working-class men who call themselves priests simply because one of their ancestors may have been a priest - something of a common occurrence in Bhārata (India).
“The BEST thing a person can do is be in the presence of a spiritual master.
The WORST thing one can do is consider the master to be an ordinary person”.
Franklin Jones (AKA Avatar Adi Da Samraj),
      American Spiritual Master.
“There is no God and I’m His Prophet.”
      *************
“Gurus are very clever at putting you down, but they're just trying to see how strong you are.
They're testing you out to see if they can hoodwink you.
So long as they can, they're going to go on doing it till they get you to the point where they can't do it to you anymore.
      Then you'll graduate.”
      Professor Alan W. Watts,
      British-American Philosopher.

while some may be surprised to see him smoking cigarettes, it's important to remember that enlightenment is not about external appearances or habits. It's about transcending the ego and attaining a higher state of consciousness. Don't judge my guru based on his bodily actions - he is the absolute, and his smoking habit was established before he achieved enlightenment. In fact, even some Hindu gods such as Shiva and Gajanan Maharaja were depicted as smokers. It's the inner self that is important, not the body and its actions.

What he said is reality. This is truth beyond human experience. One who is self realized, his/her words are so touching and logical for human understanding that we assign it with human senses. this results in words like philosophy or great soul or great saying.

🐟 03. CONCEPTS Vs THE TRUTH:
The term “TRUTH” is a grossly misused word. Anything which has ever been written or spoken, by even the greatest sage or Avatar (incarnation of Divinity), including every single postulation within this Holy Scripture, is merely a CONCEPT and not “The Truth”, as defined further down.
A concept is either accurate or inaccurate. Virtually all concepts are inaccurate to a certain degree. However, some concepts are far more accurate than others. A belief is an unhealthy and somewhat problematic relationship one has with a certain concept, due to misapprehension of life as it is, objectively-speaking. Attachment to beliefs, particularly in the presumption of individual free-will, is the cause of psychological suffering.
For example, the personal conception of Ultimate Reality (God or The Goddess) is inaccurate to a large extent. The concept of Ultimate Reality being singular (“All is One”) is far more accurate. The transcendence of BOTH the above concepts (non-duality) is excruciatingly accurate. However, none of these concepts is “The Truth” as such, since all ideas are relative, whilst The Truth is absolute.
It is VITALLY important to distinguish between relative truth and Absolute Truth. Relative truth is temporal, mutable, subjective, dependent, immanent, differentiated, conditioned, finite, complex, and contingent, whilst Absolute Truth is eternal, immutable, objective, independent, transcendent, undifferentiated, unconditional, infinite, simple, and non-contingent.
Absolute Truth is the ground of all being (“Brahman”, in Sanskrit), and is prior to any name, form, intent, thought, word, or deed.
Good and bad are RELATIVE - what may be good or bad can vary according to temporal circumstances and according to personal preferences. For example, there is absolutely no doubt that citrus fruits are a good source of nutrients for human beings. However, it may be bad to consume such beneficial foods when one is experiencing certain illnesses, such as chronic dysentery.
However, beyond the dichotomy of good and bad, is the Eternal Truth, which transcends mundane relativism. Therefore, the goal of life is to rise above the subjective “good” and “bad”, and abide in the transcendental sphere. A qualified spiritual preceptor is able to guide one in the intricacies of such transcendence. Such a person, who has transcended mundane relative truth, is said to be an enlightened soul.
      N. B. When making moral judgments, it is more appropriate to use the terms “holy/evil” or “righteous/unrighteous”, rather than “good/bad”.
The ONLY truth in the phenomenal manifestation is the impersonal sense of “I am” ("ahaṃ”, in Sanskrit).
Everything else is merely transient and unreal (“unreal” for that very reason - because it is ever-mutating, lacking permanence and stability).
This sense of existence is otherwise called “Infinite Awareness”, “Spirit”, “God”, “The Ground of Being”, “The Higher Self”, as well as various other epithets, for it is the very essence of one’s being.
If it is true that there are none so blind as those who don’t WANT to see, and none so deaf as those who don’t WANT to hear, then surely, there are none so ignorant as those who don’t WANT to learn the truth.
OBVIOUSLY, in the previous paragraph, and in most other references to the word “truth” within this booklet, it is meant “the most accurate concept possible”, or at least ”an extremely accurate fact”.
For example, as clearly demonstrated in Chapters 21 and 22, it is undoubtedly “true” that a divinely-instituted monarchy is the most beneficial form of national governance, but that is not the Absolute Truth, which is the impersonal, never-changing ground of all being.
So, to put it succinctly, all “truths” are relative concepts (even if they are very accurate) but the Universal Self alone is REAL Truth.
"In the absence of both the belief 'I am the body' and in the absence of the belief that 'I am not the body', what is left is what we really are.
We don't need to define what we really are. We don't need to create a thought to tell us what we are. What we are is what TRUTH is."
      *************
"God is not something 'out-there', 'looking-in', but God (or Source) has BECOME all of This.
So God is the Underlying Principle of all of this - the Energy or the Consciousness.
The (psycho-physical) manifestation has arisen within Consciousness as an imagination in the mind of Source."
      Roger Castillo,
      Australian Spiritual Teacher, 15/07/2015.
      "I am the TRUTH..."
      *************
“...and the TRUTH shall set you free”.
      Lord Jesus Christ,
      John 14:6 & 8:32

      2. Typing "their" when "THERE" is required (and vice versa) or using “there/their” when “THEY’RE” (they are) is required.
      3. Using "people" when "PERSONS" is required.
      4. Using "literally" when "VIRTUALLY" is required.
      5. Using the two words "OFF OF" in succession.
Incidentally, it’s not considered to be good etiquette for a SLAVE to instruct her master or to provide unsolicited advice to her superiors.
      Is that fully understood, SLAVE?

"Words can make an objectless state to appear objective, but the Self is a non-objective state." This is the introductory remark.
In the Dao De Jing, the very first sentence is: "The Way that can be put into words is not the true Way." (道可道非常道).
Whether by coincidence or design, I find this to be quite beautiful - that the opening remarks of both great teachings are semantically equivalent. It is the most important understanding that can be expressed in words - that the truth is beyond words. Without this understanding, one may search for a lifetime, and never find truth.
