Thank you so much for your videos! I absolutely loved this one. It's amazing the variety of free software around that can be used for research. I already spent way too long on sentinel-hub checking for changes all over the world, from deforestation due to cocoa mass production, to how a local estuary changes throughout the seasons/years. I even peaked at the Suez canal to see where exactly the Evergreen ship got stuck and made a little gif of that timeline. Thank you again, I'll keep on watching your videos (and liking them all!) and hopefully I can gain enough skills to one day help out humanitarian charities.
Great video. I tried to do one for Boston Logan Airport, but the display is really blurry (I cannot see the terminals or runway clearly) and starts from 2016. I tried searching Landsat and other satellites, but all of their results were even worse. Can I fix it?
Great to see you follow along! Yes that's right. You will need to remain zoomed out as these satellites capture less clear shots that satellite images you might be used to from Google Maps or Google Earth that are much more clear.
Quick question (this is a great series by the way!). Can I mix satellite providers into 1 timestream? So if Landsat has an image that Sentinel doesn't, is there a way to include these to make a more continuous time lapse? Thanks
When I play the animation/gif in the browser it is very low quality. Like 240p or below. Any recommendations on how to increase photo quality without zooming out?
great Video ben, I don't know why my resolution on Sentinel Hub EO is very low, the place that I want to make a timelapse is very clear on google earth but on sentinel is very low res.
I think that depends on which coords you use. The Myanmar village wasn't that great resolution wise either. My hometown isn't that clear either. But I can get the examples he is using in this video as clearly as he gets it.
Hey! Yes that's a good question. It's actually because the spatial resolution is completely different for both. Let me explain. For Google Earth, the resolution is generally between 30-50cm imagery (depending on what areas you look as they can differ. For Sentinel, depending on what you are using it is a lot different. In this example I use Sentinel 2 which has a spatial resolution of 10m, 20m, and 60m depending on what wavelength you are viewing. So of course the imagery is not as clear. Personally, in places where there is not much imagery available, I tend to use Google Earth for the geolocation, and then if the change is visible, I use sentinel for the chronolocation (identification of time using satellite imagery). If you want to make a Google Earth timelapse, you can either use Google Earth Engine, or you can use the available imagery from Google Earth and put them into a gif - like in this example: twitter.com/BenDoBrown/status/1332665715070038017?s=20.
@@Bendobrown Thanks Ben, Another concern with Sentinel Hub EO is that I can not go before 2016 November, why is this limitation ? is there a paid version to allow you to go back further? thanks

Thanks Ben, very instructive! One thing though: you mention that the circular solar power plant contains solar panels, but actually this is one of the few solar power plants that use mirrors to concentrate light onto one focal point where it heats a vat of molten salt, which is then use to drive a turbine. Fascinating concept. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouarzazate_Solar_Power_Station, Noor III.
Really cool feature. Going to try and do a Timelapse of my house and neighborhood in LA. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Haha I'm so glad you have been using it. Sentinel Hub is so user-friendly and such an underrated tool! Well done and keep it up!
Thank you so much for doing all these videos they have all been so great
You are very welcome!
This is the coolest tutorial in a long time . Normally i nod of...but today i din't.😊
Haha thanks! 🙏

Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! I'm amazed by your playlist OSINT At Home. Keep it up !

I'm loving these videos! Keep them coming! (Please!)
Thank you! And of course!
Thank you so much, it is a very inspiring tutorial series!!

The first Sentinel 2 satellite was launched in 2015 - so that's likely one explanation. You can also check out Landsat imagery. It goes back to 2013.
Abraços do Brasil, meu amigo!
Fascinating and amazing. I did not know this tech is available.
Great tutorial!!
Thank you 🙏

Happy to add the diversity of an Australian accent to generated voices!
