Pleasant Green I would love for you to call out Facebook and the social media sites that allow this garbage to continue happening. They need to be held accountable. People are being scammed out of so much money. There are so many fake ads. It’s ridiculous I can’t even scroll one swipe without finding a scam item now.

Your first mistake was to believe that someone from FB would actually offer you a legitimate job.

Not necessarily. The company contracts with a lot of legitimate outsourcing companies in India for answering basic tickets, stuff like that. One thing I immediately noticed is these guys say "kindly" all the time, despite doing real non-scam work. It's just how people speak English in that part of the world, and unfortunately there are a lot of scammers there too.

These scams on FB are out of control. Thanks for showing how the scammers use other unsuspecting individuals. The actual detail guy probably receives a fraction of what the actual 55% equates to. Scamming everyone involved. Sad.

@@PleasantGreen I doubt it. I have the exact same ad, word for word, in several of my local groups as well.
They're a problem everywhere. Here in Bulgarian facebook groups we get Nigerian scammers promising work that requires no experience, half a work day and a salary equating to double that of a normal job. Then they invite you to a telegram group and god knows what extortion happens in there. They use google translate and sadly some people seem to fall for it because there's always a bunch of interested commenters under their posts.
I work for a professional auto detailing shop and you wouldn't believe how many people contact us every day asking if we need "10-15 new customers per month guaranteed" so i can only assume that shops agree with those people and then they find brokers that make these scam posts on facebook.
It's sometimes worth wasting their time a little, I've actually had a few of those calls turn out to be legitimate businesses with fleets that we now service, but it's often the grammar mistakes which gives away the obvious scams.
I detailed my car once, just once and it took me hours, all day. Never again. I’ll gladly pay $200 for someone else to do it. If they do as thorough a job as I did myself.

@@ChildofGodforevr $200 only gets you a vacuum and wash if it's not even dirty though. Like if you do it every month. A real detail on a real dirty car where they have to polish the paint and shampoo the carpet, etc would be $500-1000.
I was about to comment this, I run my own detailing business literally only on Facebook marketplace. I get these exact messages all the time for “10-15 new customers each month” it’s really out of hand. They act like normal people then want a part of your business that they bring you from using preditory tactics

Unbelievably complicated scam going on here. It's alarming to see how deep these overseas operations can get into our local communities. Let's be more cautious and verify the identities of those we do business with.
They must loose 90% of of their potential customers by using these stupid delaying techniques.
This one could have been just over the border. He was replying in Spanish and the way he said ¿porque? Just convinced me he was probably in Mexico or a Spanish speaking American.

They don't do a legitimate job because they people initiating the scams are trying to make money off of other oblivious people doing work :/
Legit work would mean vetting the people you hire to determine if they can actual do the work. That’s tough to do when you’re halfway around the world. Easier to just bait customer and hook them up with Craigslist dayworkers and a long as you get paid, good to go. If you don’t get paid bc the work was done terribly, then you don’t pay the dayworker. The scammer has no skin in the game.
@@stephen3164It's kind of hilarious too if you think about it. This service should be pretty prospective in Pakistan as well. Some people need jobs, some people need jobs done... They can be an actual Domestic Job Broker/Mediator
But no they do this instead. Because it's not about giving the service, it's about the cash they get instead of doing the same, more easily manageable job in Pakistan.
Fast money Mindset. The humorous part is that they expend as much effort as they would doing legitimate work though
$70 USD, which is their cut, is a lot in Pakistan. If they do 1 or 2 a month, they are better than working a labor job in Pakistan.
Your tenacity in getting to the bottom of these scams is amazing. I live in a small town so we only have one dedicated car detailer but if he can't help you right away he will send a buddy over to get things started. Neighbors & friends helping each other; just like it should be.
Same word for word post in a couple of my groups. We got them banned but they always find a way. It's either these type posts or DUCT cleaning.

Can you give an example please of what angle these scammers are using on you and other business owners? They really are involved in every facet of social media it seems, it's gross and I'm thankful I do very little if any business online. I'm glad you can spot them so easily.

These detail scammers are ruining business for actual detailers in the community. Now whenever someone sees a detailing ad in a community group even if it’s a legit business people will think it’s a scam.
Any time they mention that "I am in the hospital" or a hospital in anyway as the reason why they can't provide you the service, it is always a scam!
You have to love it when your cleaner asks if they can get in a crash with your permission

@@Wendy_O._Koopa scamers around the world have been using VPNs for a while now, they are getting more tech savy, but they tend to only use the VPN and not change their browser date time settings and that gives them away when you trace their ip, even the free tracking services now automatically check for the browser settings of the machine and let's you know the machine likely is using a vpn, some of the paid VPN services have features to work around this but scammers tend to use the free ones
My neighborhood Facebook group has been filled with these lately and every time I try and point out it is a scam i get hate so i just stopped. So frustrating because I live in an elderly community and am just trying to protect my neighbors.
Why let the ignorant win? Just block those who are too moronic to listen to you.

It’s odd, but ultimately for the customer it’s not really a scam. They agree to a price and a Detailer comes out. You pay once he’s done if you’re satisfied so who is getting screwed over?
As an admin for our local facebook group, I see about 5 to 15 new member requests per day. More usually at the beginning of the month. We have them answer three simple questions. Which the scammers cant even answer. Some times they get in. We are not perfect. But if any post says anything about car detailing or duct cleaning they are banned. It is a private group. That is what you should really join is a private group. With admins who care!
Makes it harder for the legitimate businesses in Brisbane
I admin our neighborhood group. It's a community of about 50 townhomes, so we know most of each other. One of our questions is address, and I've had them claim to be next door neighbors, or even my own address! Come now, I'm not THAT stupid!

There is a tow scam that is very similar to this. Go online, schedule a tow and they farm it out to a local company and pay them half of what they charged you.
How's that a scam tho? Sounds like sub contracting to me. As long as you actually get someone to tow ur car like u wanted I don't see how it's a scam
@@willydmankal Because they make it seem like they are local to you complete with a fake address on their website and you end up paying twice as much for a tow.
One of their tactics is changing phone numbers on google business to their own and requesting credit card over the phone before they will send a truck.

Makes sense a few months ago I needed a tow in the middle of nowhere got some random Indian dude talking wanted to change me like $400 to literally tow it half a mile. There was a few weird things about it I can't remember it's been a while

Hey Ben , I speak spanish and I have seen this ads contracting people on Facebook groups. So what they do is because they know a lot of people are coming to the US looking for work the scammers are posting on facebook groups known to hispanics and they contract them.
This is what I thought-take advantage of border crossers who can't get work here otherwise.

Good to know. These are probably similar to the lead services that contact me on a regular basis asking if we need help with our detailing business. They're also probably using our brand to achieve this since we've gotten some strange phone calls from people who we've never talked to before but insist they've booked an appointment with us. It's unfortunate these scammers are out there. Thanks for the video!

Facebook is unbelievably overrun with scammers. I changed my profile picture to one of my dog just because any time I posted a comment somewhere, I'd get bombarded by scam messages wanting me to send them a friend request. Kitboga has been delving into the FB scammer world recently too. Also saw a different YTer showing all the numerous copies of his name out there. It's nuts!
At least with this scam, you actually walk away with a clean car, not 20k taken out of your bank account. Not much different than a sketchy version of Angie’s list.

The scary part is that these types of scams aren’t isolated to the car detailing industry. There are scam companies for just about every professional service now. I’ve literally had people walk into my locksmith shop with the intent of using violence against me because someone else scammed them posing as me. There’s plumbing scammers, electrician scammers, even landscaping scammers just to name a few, it’s absolutely absurd.

What's really going on here is that Facebook knows that it's the preferred medium for scammers of all types, and it will do anything it can to facilitate that.

I run my neighborhood FB page. The duct cleaning scmas are almost every week. The accounts all look the same. Some generic family picture. Reminds me of the photos inside of picture frames when you buy one.

I definitely agree. Instead of pretending to be someone else or a "business" it would have been nice if they were honest and make a recruitment company that sends people to do jobs. Which would be way more trustworthy than needing to lie.
If they called or messaged you and said ‘hi we are calling from Pakistan’ you’d shut the phone off. I do agree the approach is wrong but I don’t see this as a scam as such, they do send someone to come do the job

If you have a neighborhood FB group make sure it's set to private. Also have entry questions only residents can ask like: "What's your car's make and color?"
You’re finally back! I’ve been able to trick the car detail scammers and duct cleaning scammers to go across the street from my work and I love watching them waste their time as they blow up my burner # lol
These are all over Craigslist too. I scheduled a handyman to come out and do a drywall repair and they sent out two random guys that obviously had no clue how to fix drywall. I don't know how you can filter these out anymore. It's hard to tell who's a legit business and who's an appointment farmer overseas.

Great video. I don't know that I would call it a scam per-se. My main reasoning is because you are actually getting something of value at the end of it. Maybe it's not worth the price you pay but you are getting something out of it. However, the practice is shady AF. The scammers here are essentially acting as brokers. They find small businesses and say "hey, for $XX I can give you a bunch of leads" and then they infiltrate social media and use deceitful methods.
It is an interesting "business" and it is super dishonest.

I have said exactly the same. Not a scam perse, but very immoral and dishonest.
When the advertisement is lying about the situation and is using a fake name and is orchestrating it from another country and has like a 900% mark up rather than just 20-30% this is absolutely a scam.
Read today in the daily mail news paper about a guy selling his car on fb market place somebody really keen rang up asking for details address etc and made an appointment to view it. He did not show up but the car was stolen
the next day. Apparently its become common practice in the UK most are mid price cars mostly broken for spare parts and sold on ebay etc

I think it may be as simple as people who have no idea how to run an honest business learning their marketing and management skills from scammers. Like a grocery store run by an ex armed robber who thinks it's normal to demand payment for your produce at gunpoint.

So interesting. I’ve owned a detailing company for 11 years here in Utah. I’ve just started to see these types of fb posts. I thought they were strange
What is crazy is that these people do not need to lie if they are actually providing a service and not stealing. There are referral companies, and that is all they would have to call themselves. Just be honest and tell people that you can help them find people that will do the job you want done.
But they play on sympathy with those FB posts, pretending to be local AND down on their luck, Increases the odds someone will contact them,.

Without any of the lies nobody would trust a random post in your community group coming from somebody on a different continent representing a referral firm. Even if the firm itself isn't predatory ( which in this case, 45% cut for the upcharge quota seems predatory to me ) a lot less people would trust it, if any. Pretending to be a local person down on their luck definitely makes a lot more people want to help out, especially if they need that service anyways so might as well help out a neighbor while having it done.

They could just do the business of matching up customers and companies and take a cut. 🤷🏽♀️

Wow, I thought this was a FL thing in my area, this scam has been HORRABLE to my small detailing business, almost NO leads from FB. Most FB groups are now just getting that these posts are scams. hopefully this changes soon!

Here’s a trick I learned: copy and paste the text from the FB post and you’ll find the exact text in many other posts…by different people. That’s how I learned that someone selling furniture in a group I follow is a scammer. (Besides the fact that all the furniture he/she posted were stolen pictures.)

Over the past couple of years, I've found this sort of issue with appliance repair and locksmiths. I've had to really do my digging to find a reputable person. Sometimes I just go to a local hardware store and ask them if they know/ used someone.
I’ve seen this and the Air Duct scam you posted awhile ago many times in my town FB group. I report and also have shared your earlier video.
I had a neighbor who had a company like that. He offered to detail my truck and I said sure and I paid him. He returned my truck and then proceeded to hit on me. The guy was married with kids, I was disgusted. Never spoke to him again because of that move he made, slim ball

Unfortunately this happens. I've had pretty well the same thing happen but with house cleaners. The call centre is in india and they pretend to be local. They have a person in Australia (where I am) for the ABN (Australian business number) .
They promise the world but always seem to fail. They've got plenty of fake reviews (1 gets posted every 10 or so bad reviews). They get you to agree to a contract (very wordy one at that) and then hire someone else who does a half assed job (do about 1 hours cleaning and charge you for 5 hours cleaning for 3 - 4 hours of work). The clean ended up costing me about 150% of the price the real estate recommended cleaner would have charged (paying the bad cleaners, cleaning some up myself afterwards and then hiring the real estate recommended ones to finish the job)

I had the same thing in the UK. Needed someone to install a tv. Kept making and canceling appointments. After a few days I figured it out. There are listings for flowers too. They take the booking, take your money, then look for a local florist who will do the job for the tiny amount they are offering, either you get terrible flowers or none at all.

Loved the over use of Wilhelm screams.
In Baltimore, they have this scam where they make an entire clone website for popular restaurants (to go or delivery part). But they jack the price up by 15-20%. When you order from them, they just forward the order to the real website keeping the inflated difference. You pick up your food or your food is delivered, you are none the wiser you just paid for an unnecessary "service".
Near where I live there is a big hospital with lots of doctor's consulting rooms too. Some young adults have set up a business offering car washing for a very reasonable fee while you go to your appointment. They do a great job and I always get my car washed when I see my doc even if it isn't needed, because I love supporting honest small businesses.
I would actually consider $190 for an exterior and interior detailing a pretty good deal. A lot of them are $300+.
