I would imagine somebody that’s shopping for a vehicle is looking at multiple vehicles. For example, if they narrowed down their search to 5 vehicles around the $2000 price then they’d have to spend the $40 for a report 5 times. That’s $200 just in reports or 10% of what they were gonna spend on the vehicle

Unfortunately, these unscrupulous scammers have now given unscrupulous used car sellers a way to get a vehicle report that shows a perfect record for their car that really has tons of issues that a reputable site would flag! Now more than ever the Buyer needs to BEWARE! Don't trust just any report...do your due diligence before you buy!
Two years ago I saw an SUV and I have this probably 20 times. In 2 weeks unaware. Once I realize it while asking for the same thing I realize it was some kind of scam b. Two years ago this would have been very helpful to me and others thank you for all the stuff
In my opinion, I feel it is the responsibility of the potential purchaser of a vehicle to buy a VIN report on a car they are interested in. The seller could be helpful in providing one, but I don't think it should be the sellers responsibility. When you go buy something, you do research on that before you pour money into it, don't you? Why should a $20k (or $2k, or even $500, price makes no difference) investment be any different? If you found a bad report, brush it off and consider it a bullet dodged. When I am shopping for a car, I buy 3 Carfax reports. Ran me $60 last time. My first car I ran was a Suburu Forrester at a local used car dealership. The car looked quite clean, but when I pulled the VIN, I found that not only had it been wrecked twice, but also was stolen at one point. I showed the manager at the dealer my findings, and he told me that under law, as long as it is roadworthy, it can be sold. Yeah. I didn't look any more at that dealership. So, my point being, a $60 investment saved me thousands.
I've never sold or bought a car but when buying a house or apartment it's up to the buyer to pay for things like building inspections, pest inspections and surveyors reports, and a buyer certainly wouldn't expect the vendor to buy reports from the company of their choice!
Just bought a classic mini in the UK. We have an annual car test here for vehicles over 3 and under 40 years old called the MOT. Fairly comprehensive test in specially licenced centers costing around £50. Here you can go on the Gov MOT site and from the registration number of the vehicle get all it's MOT history since the late 90's when they started doing it on computers. The thing is each MOT shows not just pass/fail but also lists items the vehicle failed on. It also has an 'adviseries' section of items not yet MOT faliours but on their way to being so like structual areas rust. It is an invaluable source of info when looking to buy a vehicle as you often quickly spot inconsistencies suggesting dodgy car history. Avoided a few problem vehicles with that! You can also go for a full vehicle check but better to check the MOT one for free first as they cost around £30 a pop. it is not the norm here to expect the seller to have a car report ready, in fact I've never noticed anyone selling offering one but there was talk of making it mandatory to do so a while ago, probably a EU type directive as they are big on regulations. Cars here over 40 can apply to be registered as 'historic vehicle' and no longer require taxation to use on the road or an annual MOT though many people still MOT them to check on their condition. I guess in places where there is no MOT equivillent then you really do need a vehicle report pretty much every time.
Totally off topic...but I absolutely LOVE Ronnie's headphones with attached kitty ears...who doesn't want Kitty's ears when listening to your favorite tunes 🤣🤣🤣
People should be openly told, in the media?. Or a Govt warning announcement of sorts? . It ought to be common knowledge and then these scammers would be out of business quickly. I suppose as yet, not enough people care yet. Many thanks for your good work sir. Much appreciated.
The effort of setting up a server and building multiple brands is most of the work to a successful business? Why not just do it legit and pay the dvla or whoever for the actual reports
I mean, I don't think what they made was that difficult, and the front-facing stuff looks like it's just a template, because they spammed it over and over again. But point taken, if you're going to make an email bot that hits public records about a VIN and spits out a PDF with that info slotted in, you might as well go legit and hook in to whatever serves up the accident reports and legit vehicle history. It's kind of amazing that they committed this much to the scam.
@@danieltaylor4185 Throwing up template sites isn't difficult but to purchase the domains, manage them, create scripts and have to keep swapping merchants and bank accounts for just small amounts of money must be frustrating and a lot effort. If they paid the DVLA, they would probably have API access to the database and would be able to build reviews and a brand on just one site. Don't forget the average person can barley use Wix haha

Now I see the same language used in your example. I almost fell for it except for being so stubborn by nature and refusing to comply with any demand made by a stranger. I thought the guy just wanted me to spend my $20 for the report, than him, but now I realize it was a scam.
This is crazy, sold my car a year or so ago and got about 4 messages asking for this same specific site, though I provided Carfax, they tried claiming that Carfax doesn't provide the full history or skips out on things 🤦♂️
I sold a car several years ago and was shocked when a pretty bad car accident I was in wasn’t on the carfax so even they aren’t 100% accurate unfortunately. 😕
Can you do a video of the “cheap car” for sale? The scam where people post really nice looking cars in good condition for really cheap. I’ve seen tons on Facebook market, I’ve even done some reverse image searches and have found the actual dealership selling the same car with the same pictures! I’ve actually almost have gotten scammed by this
@@olivialeopard3973 so what happens is that they post cars for really cheap when they look brand new. Low miles, clean interior, everything is perfect! But the scam is that they make up a story about how they need to ship the car to you.
Tell your friend not to offer that the potential buyer is the first to reach out. Gives the buyer more negotiating power, especially if it isn't a brand new posting. Thanks for sharing about the scam, though!
The government needs to put a lock on those sites and people now. As long as the government just stands by and watches it makes itself a companion of those scammers!!!
This is actually a really good hustle. They are technically providing exactly that you're buying, albeit not really accurate or detailed. Regardless, they are providing a service and not just flat-out stealing.
It's definitely one of the nicer scams out there. They're not stealing important information, using sextortion, or even stealing that much money. It's only $25 and for most people, $25 ain't gonna break the bank.
I own a car dealership. They probably ran a NMVTIS (National Motor Vehicle Title Information System) for $1. I run NMVTIS, Carfax, Autocheck and recall check on EVERY vehicle. Im suprised how many times NMVTIS shows no accident, Carfax no accident but Autocheck shows accident. NMVTIS is bad and surprisingly Carfax is not as reliable as people think. So basically the scammer paid $1 and sold it to you for $25....

I also ran into these scams when trying to sell a car online. I thought the website would try to install malware or just scrape a credit card, but this is even more clever.
I found something just like this with a website about human skin v.s dog skin. I searched the first sentence of the webisight and found 6 different website with different names but the same exact format and words. I couldn't find the original, but one of them did say it was run by a vet clinic.
I caught a glimpse in the video of the KSL classifieds in Utah which I sold my old car on a few years ago. I had to sift through a lot of scammers’ texts to get a legit buyer. They all wanted me to ship my $200 car to Atlanta or Texas or Maryland, etc. Ya, right!! I would reply “local buyers only” I even put on my ad: NO SCAMMERS!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! 😂
I love your Harry's ad, but you left me hanging with the following statement: "My face is smoother than my baby's." Your baby's what... behind? ;-) Keep the awesome videos coming, Ben!
I also use live chats to send a grabify link, it always works, sometimes I confront them and they either curse at me in their language or simply just end the live chat 😂
I got a dozen requests for these reports when I posted my truck for sale a couple of months ago. I told them I had a current carfax (which I didn't) and they all said their report is better. None of them asked if I was willing to take less like most real people do and all of them said they were in area and wanted to come see it tomorrow but I needed the report right away. They all sent links in their text messages too.
I just went through this. I had several inquiries where the person started a normal conversation and then dropped in a request that I send them a vehicle report at the end of the conversation. I told the very first one that if the want to buy an owner's report, that was on them. They kept insisting, so I looked it up and found out it was a scam. Then they kept coming from other supposed buyers. It was crazy.
you should have only $25 and deal would have been made, worth risking $25 to sell your car at asking price since you didnt know at the time is was a scam..
I fell for this unfortunately back in 2015 when trying to sell my Explorer. I paid just $12 luckily and then the guy ghosted me 🤣 only time I've ever been scammed. I was 22 and it took me about 15 minutes of unanswered texts before I figured it out. Felt like an idiot 😂
@@loucololosse He lives in Utah, or so he says. There are CIA offices in all 50 states, just like the FBI and NSA. Just the CIA and NSA work out of regular offices. He would not be dumb enough to expose himself like that. Why would the CIA sell polo shirts when Congress gives them billions of dollars to operate. So I went on line and there are even merchandise with FBI POLICE shirts and, yep, even "Illuminati and Mason" triangle on them. It was a funny gag though.
The other problem about auto reporting sites (even Carfax, which is legit) is that states have different rules about what is reported and what is not. For example, in Illinois, if a vehicle is involved in a crash, and less than $500 is done, a police report is not required and thus usually will never be reported to companies like CarFAx. Now generally $500 worth of damage is not significant enough to render a car useless or junk. But there are some other loopholes, such as if someone crashes a car into a pole, and doesn't file a police report or call insurance, but rather opts to pay to have the car repaired out of pocket, then it may also not be reported. So even with legit car reports, have a good mechanic look at the vehicle, because it could have been repaired by a reputable person, but just not show up on the report that it was in a crash. Usually if vehicles involve another vehicle, then the chances they are reported are much higher as police are usually involved at that point -- but someone hitting a pole as a single car accident, not always, or hitting a deer. In fact in the times I've bought used cars, I've had a mechanic look at it (if the seller refuses to let you do this, walk away, it may mean there is a hidden problem) and a I get a report from Carfax. At least then the chances of buying a lemon is far less likely, although still possible if your mechanic doesn't know what to look for/at.
I got one of these texts when trying to sell my car over two years ago. I was suspicious and so didn't take the bate and purchase anything. Can't believe this is still going on.
Mr. Green, I have a story for you. about15 years ago. I got a rent to own Car from Bestway rent-a-car in Valencia Cailfornia. it took me 1 1/2 years to pay off the car. When finishing paying for the car. I ask if their were more then one owner to the auto. The Manager said only one and no accidents. So I trusted him. and when on my way. 1 year later, I bought myself a regular car and used it for a down-payment. And the sales person told me. You do know that your car had 3 separate accidents. How can people do that.
I’m selling my car right now and I had this same thing happen to me. It almost got me until I made an account with a random password I’d never use or remember and it tried to redirect me to PayPal instantly. I’m glad I caught it before I bought it.
I've had a very similar experience. A lot of these scammers will use a variation of abbreviations. I had one use "BS" report before. Glad I was able to sell it to someone reputable though.

In the case of GM and OnStar - I get monthly emails as to my cars status. That is more than sufficient for the purpose.
Pleasantgrove is always spending his hardearned money to these scammers to help teach us how to not get played by these guys and also for our entertainment too. What a guy!
How come I love watching you advertise products just as much as the scamming????????
I shave my face like a windshield, go down from the edges and when all done go side to side to get the little hairs. I'm enjoying these videos alot.
You’ve come a long way. I’ve been following since you only had a few videos. One of my favorite channels for sure. :)
I’ve gotten these scams before now I’m glad there is a video I can send back
How did it happen
I guess in places where there is no MOT equivillent then you really do need a vehicle report pretty much every time.
yo Ben,
I just wanted to say that your doing amazing and your changing the world.
love your vids
It’s a little funny to get Harry’s ads on a UA-cam channel about scammers, but they do have a great product. I’ve used them for years.
Totally off topic...but I absolutely LOVE Ronnie's headphones with attached kitty ears...who doesn't want Kitty's ears when listening to your favorite tunes 🤣🤣🤣
I greatly appreciate your exposing this scam. I'm currently looking at used cars and now I at least know to avoid this scam. Thank you!
I had a bully and I managed to grab his IP.

People should be openly told, in the media?. Or a Govt warning announcement of sorts?
. It ought to be common knowledge and then these scammers would be out of business quickly.
I suppose as yet, not enough people care yet.
Many thanks for your good work sir. Much appreciated.
I’m a woman and I use Harry’s! Glad to see them as your sponsor!!
As a former and reformed 10 year car salesman, I concur with your findings on this subject.
If you're in pakistan, you might have trouble getting the actual data too.
I like your content it’s really cool to see some one try to make a difference out there in the world right some wrongs that weren’t even yours....
I searched you channel and found no videos about pyramid schemes or scams. I think it would greatly help your community if you explained how they worked and the odds of actually making money in one compared to wasting time and money
The quality of this channel is only going up
You gotta stop being so good looking
I was avoiding this video because I thought it was an ad (until I saw "Sam Green" and remembered "Oh yeah I was told to check out this guy, I forgot to check him out")

you can file a report against these scams in FIA
they can crack them down within hours
but the fact is they can get away with it because of loopholes in laws
long story short,
no one can stop them 😂
and i really appreciate you educated so many people ❤️
Years change but over country scammers do this on daily basis..💔
I got the same message when I posted my pick up truck for sale. I thought the guy was real, but I refused to buy the report for him. He wanted a specific report. Now I see the same language used in your example. I almost fell for it except for being so stubborn by nature and refusing to comply with any demand made by a stranger. I thought the guy just wanted me to spend my $20 for the report, than him, but now I realize it was a scam.
Kinda wish you would have confronted the “support” on the missing info and see what they said
This is crazy, sold my car a year or so ago and got about 4 messages asking for this same specific site, though I provided Carfax, they tried claiming that Carfax doesn't provide the full history or skips out on things 🤦♂️
Imagine my surprise when I see you used footage of my Canadian city at the end...
I’ve actually almost have gotten scammed by this
How did it happened please can you explain to me in details
I don’t wanna get scammed. Please
@@olivialeopard3973 so what happens is that they post cars for really cheap when they look brand new. Low miles, clean interior, everything is perfect! But the scam is that they make up a story about how they need to ship the car to you.
I just tracked down a scammer from Indonesia who wanted make me buy their report and lied about that he is local thanks for the series
Does PayPal allow him to get his 25 bucks back
Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing, he never told us.
Generally Paypal sides with the buyer when it comes to chargeback disputes. In this case it's more than likely he'd get his money back.
Tell your friend not to offer that the potential buyer is the first to reach out. Gives the buyer more negotiating power, especially if it isn't a brand new posting. Thanks for sharing about the scam, though!
"my face is smoother than me baby's"
Why wouldn't you let your baby use your razor?
The government needs to put a lock on those sites and people now. As long as the government just stands by and watches it makes itself a companion of those scammers!!!
I would be like "Sorry bud, that's up to you to get a report." If they don't like that they can move on to another seller.
You should check out the (facebook for sale - vehicle) scams.
If one shows an accident and one doesn't, how do you know which one is correct?
A VIN from a junk yard would have been funny.
11:31 guys this is Hyderabad in India and this is not Pakistan I lived here for 7 years in this exact location this is near the area kukatpally and pleasant green should change this. I am not saying that he did on purpose but I am upset that he called my city a location in Pakistan. You can search care hospital in that area and will find the same spot. Ty to all who see this
Guys my bad it yashoda hospital I have forgot
Man I wish he would've made this video 6 months earlier cause my dad fell for it. Glad it's out now though.
@@EhteshamShahzad yes that’s pretty much how the scam works
I think he means the kid's (Presumably Smooth) face.
I also use live chats to send a grabify link, it always works, sometimes I confront them and they either curse at me in their language or simply just end the live chat 😂
Where can I get the grabify
I got a dozen requests for these reports when I posted my truck for sale a couple of months ago. I told them I had a current carfax (which I didn't) and they all said their report is better. None of them asked if I was willing to take less like most real people do and all of them said they were in area and wanted to come see it tomorrow but I needed the report right away. They all sent links in their text messages too.
2:20 I immediately noticed the vector image with those watermark lines.
Ronnies cat ears made me laugh ... love them xD
This happened to me also! I’m glad I didn’t fall for it.
I opened a live chat and sent them this video...no response lmao
Lets expose these people! Love your work Ben!! Im so entertained by your channel and im ready to make these scumbags go down!
Great video. Could you do one on the $1000-$1400 cars popping up all over Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp? Thank you.
Definitely wanna see this one
Yes and no one seems to stop them
I had someone try to pull the same thing on me when I was selling a Harley. He didn’t catch me.
Love your channel, BTW.
Omg this happen to me recently and I told the buyer I’m not doing that
you should have only $25 and deal would have been made, worth risking $25 to sell your car at asking price since you didnt know at the time is was a scam..
@@longway1599 im not paying 25 dollars when I just waited another week then sold it
I fell for this unfortunately back in 2015 when trying to sell my Explorer. I paid just $12 luckily and then the guy ghosted me 🤣 only time I've ever been scammed. I was 22 and it took me about 15 minutes of unanswered texts before I figured it out. Felt like an idiot 😂
Your doing a good thing man.. Keep us informed and keep the scammers at a disadvantage. o7
I don't understand how some people fall for scams. Scammers can be smart but they won't outsmart me
Was he wearing a CIA polo shirt? Is that official?
Strange... It would explain some things.
His gig is up!!!
Trevor and Wade? Is this GTAV ? xD
lmao had the same thought after he said wade
IDK why,...but, the music was so sad at the end, it made me cry...😕😕
Wow this is actually really smart 😂😂😂they’re getting smarter
I got one of these texts when trying to sell my car over two years ago. I was suspicious and so didn't take the bate and purchase anything. Can't believe this is still going on.
Plot Twist: HARRY’S is a scam...
The only people who reached out when we had a car for sale on Craigslist were ones trying to pull this scam! Smh!
what kind of car
If you still want to sell it you may have luck with Facebook marketplace
@@TheTimothydragon gotta be careful on that also
