I will forever believe that frozen lives up to the hype. They flipped the script on their usual damsel-in-distress trope without it feeling forced. And there's still that disney romance that we all love, but portrayed in a healthier way. I love how they used everyone's assumption that an act of true love had to be romantic to really make the ending surprising. I highly recommend watching frozen II. There's some epic songs in it, and we get some interesting backstory about elsa's powers and anna and elsa's parents.
Absolutely agreed. That and the sequel is one of the few ones that are better than the original. Frozen deserves so much more. I wish it wasn't so common to hate on smth just because it's popular. Maybe there's a reason why people love it!!!
It's the most self aware Disney movie ever made, and has the most good songs of any of them imo
My favourite thing about this film is how they are teaching little kids that the bad guy isn't usually going to look or act like a bad guy. It's so perfect.
I think Kristen Bell has such a fabulous voice. She was so perfect for the part of Anna. She specifically told the Disney people that she didn't want the "perfect princess", she wanted to be relatable and with all the human flaws. That's why you'll see her drooling in her sleep, and all the other stuff that is normal for humans.
Anna is 18 and Elsa is 21. The second movie takes place 3 years later

People used to hate on the movie because of the hype but it also denied the fact that the movie itself is SO GOOD and it was hyped for that reason! The songs, the characters, THE VISUALS were just amazing!
I just realized something, Frozen has a lot in common with Glee. Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff play in Glee as Shelby and Jesse, and Rachel sings let it go in season 6.
I love Frozen, not more than Tangled, but a lot, makes me cry, I hope we're getting the second one as well

Frozen is based on a Danish fairytale that takes place in NORWAY. You can see many referances to Norway in the movie, such as snow, vikingships, malestrom, trolls, stavechurches, traditional dress, reindeer, the name Olav, the town of Arendelle ( named after a town called Arendal in Norway) etc The setting is the fictional kingdom of Arendelle which was principally based on Norway, and the cultural influences in the film come from Scandinavian culture.[ Several locations in Arendelle are inspired by real-life landmarks in Norway, including the Akershus Fortress in Oslo, the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, and Bryggen in Bergen. Numerous other typical cultural Scandinavian elements are also included in the film, such as stave churches, trolls, Viking ships, a hot spring, Fjord horses,clothes,] and food such as lutefisk. A maypole is also present in the film, as well as the brief appearance of runes in a book that Anna and Elsa's father opens to figure out where the trolls live. A scene where two men argue over whether to stack firewood bark up or bark down is a reference to the perennial Norwegian debate over how to stack firewood properly. The film also contains several elements specifically drawn from Sámi culture, such as the usage of reindeer for transportation and the equipment used to control these, clothing styles (the outfits of the ice cutters), and parts of the musical score. Decorations, such as those on the castle pillars and Kristoff's sled, are also in styles inspired by Sámi duodji decorations. I saw memes of Elsa saying "You can't marry a man you just met." that was what made me first care avout seeing this movie. and I adire the fact it was Anna's act of self sacrifice that saved her in the end.
Now I have a kid and I have made a point of gow Hans acted like a good guy but really wasn't many times and praise Christoph for asking permission to kiss her first.
In my opinion, all musical movies I've seen are actually banger storylines, too. Exept for high school musical
Elsa lines saying you can’t marry a man you just met had me laughing so hard because the original movies always seemed to be like that
the fact Hans is named after the original book writer made me really believe he would be a good guy so the twist definitely got me
And the act of true love being from family instead of a love interest was amazing
Anna punching Hans made me as happy as when hermoine punched draco
And beside that it was the family true love, it is actually Anna's true love, putting herself in front of Elsa.

Like Frozen 1 is most famous and has the best storyline.. Frozen 2 has a lesser storyline for me but the soundtrack and the songs are so much better❤❤❤ Frozen 2 has one of my favorite soundtracks ever!!

This movie combined the music and the emotions in such a good way. When i saw it for the first time i was overwhelmed with anna and the her journey... it hit me hard like a storm. Glad you liked it.

My fav part of this movie is they finally did something different with the true love thing. Every single movie is some prince rushing in to save the princess. But this time it was something different
once upon a time season 4a was about frozen, and when i tell you the CAST for that was actually insane - i know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but i loved it
inside info: the animators of the "Love is an Open Door" sequence were, understandably , real tired of the song after months of hearing it daily. So they started referring to it as "Love is an Open Bar." :)

Overall, I've always thought this was a strong movie and mostly lives up to the hype, and I have increasingly thought that the more I have watched the movie. The songs are fun and the characters engaging and there are some great moments of humor and it does the thing that I always find one of the best judges of what makes something a family movie instead of a kid's movie is treating the audience as intelligent and sensible and works in some jokes definitely directed at the parents but that would sail over the kid's heads.
The one thing I do constantly make fun of is the Head Troll tells Elsa's parents that she has to learn to control her powers and not fear them, and right in front of them they say they are going to hide her away from everyone. The movie would have been so much shorter if Pappy Troll had just smacked them upside the head and called the stupid for not listening to him at all right there and then.
I always cry when Anna get frozen, and this time wasn't the exception.
I really wish Disney would utilize the Anderson-Lopez team for more musicals outside of the Frozen franchise. They could've helped "Wish" A LOT.
I LOVE Frozen for one specific reason: my eldest first cousin’s 14-YEAR-OLD daughter is named Elsa; she was 4 when this movie came out!

You said at the start you hadn't seen Frozen but knew all the songs. BUT do you know the song "life's too short"? It's a cut song that they replaced with the "for the first time in forever reprise", taking place when Anna gets to the ice castle, and I wish it was in the actual movie because I think it fits way better, so you should hear it. It's amazing.

I find a lot of people who haven't seen Frozen have that same "meh I don't like it, it isn't any good" reaction, which is probably because the movie got so popular (and the songs so ubiquitous) that there was a predictable backlash that seems to happen with anything really popular, especially if it's something liked by young women (see: Twilight, Titanic, etc...yay institutionalized cultural misogyny!). It's really a shame since, as you saw, the movie is actually really good. As someone who's extremely introverted and anxious like Elsa, seeing her portrayed so positively in this film was literally life-changing for me. Frozen will always hold a special place in my heart for that.
I really hope you watch Frozen 2 because I enjoyed this reaction so much 🥳

I fkin love Frozen. I went to see it in cinema when it first came out like 10 years ago. I know all the songs off by heart lmao 😂.
This is a little random but Elsa always feels like good representation for ASD. (Not that she has it, just the way her power is treated). She hides her power which is like masking, when she gets too overwhelmed it all gets exposed and people reject her, and being away from everyone was easier as there weren’t expectations. I always cry watching the film because of this. It’s such a great film tho, the second one is awesome too.
Edit - oh I feel the same way about idinas voice. It was fine until I saw Idina and heard her in other stuff like wicked, and watched her in glee, and then watched the film again and then all of a sudden idinas voice just doesn’t fit right anymore.

I love the movie so much but at this point, with almost every single line there's a parody of it playing in my mind...I think I watched the ytps more than the movie itself at this point xD
