Yu-Gi-Oh! Badlands is a fan made, non-profit, series based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! IP owned by Konami featuring the mercenaries from Valves Team Fortress 2. It does feature the use of AI voices and TTS elements and as such, it will not be monetized. While I do believe AI has become problematic in several ways, I also believe use of AI for memes, funny jokes, and non profit fan projects (like this one) should present no problem as long as proper credit/a disclaimer is given. Love that Sniper used Fossils, Crocodile Jim was probably one of my favorite Characters in GX and also I like playing fossils as well. What surprised me is how enthusiastic Demo has been getting when watching the others duel. Stark contrast how other videos portray him as a no fun allowed type of guy and Engies talk with scout was wholesome and kind of inspiring. On the Topic of Scout, I REALLY hope he gets curb stomp in his next duel maybe to knock some sense into him.
Yeah, I feel like scout is definitely gonna lose badly this season. Let's face it, Scout bearly beat Delta and I dare say he only got lucky. I feel like he might tweak his deck a bit and have some development later on.
@@aceface5188 you got that right I mean I respect his commitment to his favorite it cards but if he doesn’t learn to put his selfishness and gilt away he will only slow everyone down because right now he’s the weak link in the team.
Honestly, I thought he would’ve used a reptile/dinosaur deck. Since Australia is chock full of dangerous reptiles and all.
Also, as much I want scout to get some sense back, if he gets stomped, he’ll more than likely be taken prisoner/killed upon loss. So maybe a Near loss and a “skin of his teeth” win would suffice.
@@minemaster2392 I can see why you would think that. In my mind if the duels were using Link Monster I could also see Sniper using Magical Musketeers.
@@soulfireartist yeah, though the reason I say dinosaur type monsters is because of 1 particular card, “tyrano-infinity”, which has zero attack points, but gains a thousand for each dinosaur type monster that is banished from the graveyard.
There’s another card that helps set up that monster, a trap called “survival instinct”, which banishes dinosaur cards from your graveyard and gives your life points in exchange. Cant remember the exact amount though.

The dialogue does a really good job of building the relationships between characters! Engi's heart-to-heart with scout felt surprisingly genuine and managed to catch me off guard, and I really liked seeing Alpha try to order her siblings around!
On a related note, Kudos on Heavy's voice!
I had no idea you were using kits and voicing it yourself, but it's given me some serious appreciation for his lines!
Speaking of the mercs, the simultaneous duel was a serious treat!
It's great that were slowly seeing more XYZ monsters after we were introduced to them during last season, and Soldier's Heroic Champion is an excellent addition to his deck! His duel also ends on a funny note when the opponent accidentally gives him advice, causing him to change his attack target.
As for Sniper- I WAS RIGHT!! Fossil Warrior was such a great fit (Jim Cook reference aside) and it's really fun seeing the archetype in action - not to mention Sniper's OTK was absolutely sublime! And yes, I am still grinning after guessing the archetype right!
On a small sidenote, I'm really glad you gave sniper's opponent a Gadget deck! Seeing the original Gadget trio and Stronghold was a wonderful nostalgic treat!
Ok, ok, let's adress the Judas in the room: I LOVE his interactions with Epsilon!
His previous lies regarding Delta are questioned and he isn't able to give a convincing answer, and when he's further questioned he tries to brush her concerns off and give her orders instead. When that STILL doesn't work he resorts to rebooting her, which he seems to do often ("Your software crashed AGAIN").
He thinks very little of each robot, which was also showcased last episode with Delta, and it is a PERFECT FLAW for a villain like him!
I also gotta give props for his footsteps! I didn't realize how iconic those metal thumps were, until I could suddenly recognise him approaching the mercs and actually tensed up!
I'm really enjoying how the story is coming together, and I'm really excited for the next episode now!

Well now, ain't this something. No wonder time had to be taken on this, this was a nice and lengthy episode. We've come a long way from a ten minute duel over Capri Suns, that's for sure.
Scout seems to be in a lot of anguish over this whole crazy series of events, and it seems to really be clouding his judgment. I find it interesting, because in the past Scout has admitted to this problem of being selfish when he was up against Machina Ruinforce. And yet he still falls into that mental pitfall. It feels like there's something more here, and while Scout is at least partially aware of it, it seems he may not know just how deep these impulses of his run, especially when someone he cares about is on the line. I really hope he can find a way to pull himself together. At least Heavy, Medic and Pyro are with him at the moment. I just hope he doesn't lash out at them too hard, particularly Pyro. Pyro's been through enough.
On another note, hoo boy. Epsilon seems like a sweetheart at first glance, but it looks like she has a mean streak. I suppose it makes sense why, given that her brother is dead because of the mercs. I do not want to know just how furious she will be once she finds out what Judas did to Delta... and given Judas' reaction to her nearly doing so, it seems he has a similar thought process. Judas originally seemed unshakable in his quest to revive GLaDOS, but it seems he realizes that the plan could teeter on the brink at any moment. A lot of factors need to fall in his favor, and he has to act quickly on some kind of time limit like he mentioned, yet cautiously so as not to drop the illusion that he's on the robot team's side...
Which brings us to the duels. I didn't expect to see duel-capable turrets, but duel they did! I was particularly impressed by the gadget setup done by Turret 2. I've never seen a modern gadget deck in action before, but boy did I underestimate just how good gold and silver gadget are at bringing out the rest of them, even if they are both stuck with Hard Once Per Turn restrictions. HOPTs can be irksome at times when you really wanna go off, sure, but as Infernity decks showed us, they are very much necessary... Infernity Archfiend and Infernity Barrier looping is not something we need more of.
But anyway, I can see now how easy it is for gadgets to bring each other out, and thus how easy it is to get Platinum Gadget onto the field. I was kinda surprised we didn't see Platinum actually, but I suppose story-wise it would be better to save the first opponent who can link summon for someone more notable than a common turret. Same for pendulum summoning, if we ever see that mechanic come into play.
So Sniper runs fossils, eh? Graveyard fusion is always an interesting concept, stuff like Overload Fusion or Ultimate Fusion and the like. I didn't realize Time Stream could bring out Skullgios when I first read the text of said fusion monster, since it said that Fossil Fusion had to be used to summon Skullgios, but then I looked at Time Stream and realized that the effect of that card is treated as the effect of Fossil Fusion. So that's a nice little workaround to bring out the big bundle of bones!
That said, it is amusing just how symbolic Skullgios is at the end of the day. There's no meat on them bones. It hits really freaking hard, but can't save itself from any effect interruptions like returning to hand or just flat-out destroying, nor change the state of the board in a significant way due to a lack of summoning, hand adding or removal effects. Still it is a very fun beater when you wanna just go ham, and Sniper had the perfect opportunity after Pachycephalo did what it does best. Welcome to what remains of the stone age, turret! Don't worry, you won't be staying long.
As for Soldier, incorporating Heroic Champions into his extra deck is a solid idea for a guy who loves warrior monsters so much! Claivesolish is a good answer to any number of big attack number beaters as was demonstrated here. Kusanagi will be good to stop enemy traps if someone runs a trap-heavy deck like Eldlich or Labrynth, Excalibur is a bit outdated admittedly but could still be used as a finishing blow with that attack doubling, and Gandiva would be great to shut down enemy combos, as long as the combo starts with low enough level enemies. I'm not sure about Jarngreipr though, I don't recall Soldier running a lot of level 1 monsters. And as for Number 86: Rhongomyniad... hoo boy, well! There's a reason he's banned, that's for sure. If Soldier can bust him out with 5 materials, that duel will be as good as over.
But yeah, while that was a sticky situation, it's good that Soldier and Sniper were able to pull through and... oh. Oh dear. This situation just got ten times worse. Judas has decided to come out of hiding... and it seems like he's not playing around. But I do wonder why he's showing up now of all times. Either he REALLY doesn't want the mercs accessing that door, or he has some other plans. It feels like if Judas is appearing here, there may be a resonator nearby. I'm not sure his plans allow for him to duel the mercs in this location, but... there's only six robots if Sigma's designation of KB-606 is any indication, so only six of the eight mercs present are needed to activate the resonators. So this may be setup in the story for him to curbstomp someone in a duel just to prove how much of a threat he really is. Or, he may be here to subtly direct the mercs toward said resonator and their next robot opponent to get another one charged. I will be very curious to see how this encounter plays out...
Overall, a nice episode to set up possible future character development. The duels were a good introduction to Soldier's new extra deck and Sniper's archetype of choice and some insight into Scout and Engie's past interactions. This could also be a good chance to show just how Dr. Odell will play his metaphorical cards as a villain. And possibly some of his actual cards too, depending on his choices in this encounter. Will he try brute force dueling on a merc or two to intimidate the rest and establish his threat level? Or perhaps persuade them to act in a certain way to benefit his long-term goals? The mercs know nothing about Dr. Odell, so his options are certainly there in terms of how he wants to have the mercs react to his arrival. Only time will tell...

I did not expect the doctor to show up at the end. I thought he might let the duel bots duel to gain energy, but maybe scout's group is enough, or the thing in his stomach also allows him to gain energy, and he will be enough to take them down.

I have been getting a lot of requests for one. I have plans for one, but I am not yet ready to start working on it.
Feel like sniper was a nod to gx, but i got a question: do you do the first duel for your videos, or do you do multiple duels to get one youd want for it?
The duels are scripted and often multiple takes are done until I get the perfect duel for the episode. It's gotta have twists and turns, monster highlights, ect.
Kind of a shame you didn’t give sniper a dinosaur deck though. Given that Australia is FULL of dangerous reptiles, I thought that’s what you would’ve gone with.
There’s a special card combo that is pretty terrifying to go up against. The monster card “Tyrano-infinity” and the trap card “survival instinct”;
Survival instinct can get you out of a bind if you have a lot of dinosaur type monsters in your graveyard, you can banish any number of dinosaur type monsters from your graveyard, and gain 400 life points for each monster you banish. This Also sets up QUITE the power-house known as tyrant-infinity.
Tyrano-infinity has zero attack points to start, but gains 1000 attack points for every dinosaur type monster in your banished pile; meaning, if you have 7 dinosaur cards in your banished pile, tyrano-infinity gains 7000 attack points; and if you have more than one on the field, you could be damn near Unstop-able in terms of attack power.
Of course Sniper would run a fossil deck. Hes a bloody aussie. Not that it means this is offensive to Australians
I had a question about one of the highlight monsters of the merc’s decks and it’s Demoman’s monster. What monster is that exactly because I haven’t been able to find it.

I guess there where more dueling robots than we thought but man soldier upped his game on his warrior deck and sniper wasn’t to bad either with his fossil deck. But now engineers team are faced to face with the doc I don’t know what will happen but it will not end well the other team better be prepared for what they will face and scout better learn to get his act together or he’ll get not only himself killed but also the rest of the team too it even made me wonder if he added a judge man to is deck so he can fusion summon dark judge I bin wondering that ever since engineer asked scout if he upped his deck.
One thing, I'm curious about why tin arch duke attack name "Columbian lance" isntead of Blade bop cause His weapon is a long sword or a rapier not a lance???😕😕😕
