Nice build! That trigger looks fantastic and I totally dig the matching fabric overlay on the holster, too. Well done all around! 🔥🔥🔥
Much appreciated! Always appreciate you taking the time to watch our videos bud, thank you!
Thanks for showing us options. $900 more for the simpler cerakote job is a fair price for the exceptional work. Also would love to see the Night Stalker with a comp and the extra work/details from Monsoon Tactical. Perhaps the longer barrel would increase its precision.
Roger great follow up video. With the time and effort I realize you cannot do them all. Please consider doing some testing with the Tisas night stalker edition. I have one and for the features there is some great value there. I just left Ventura right now. Its in the case for 900 bucks. Based on the other budget offerings this is in that category. Thanks
Great suggestion! I’m actually talking to Tisas about that now!
Love it! Nice work by monsoon
Y'all are killing it with style!!! Great vid Roger. Appreciate you and your crew bringing the content. God Bless amigo!
Haha thanks man! Appreciate ya watching!
Yeah, saw this coming for the Tisas. It's an ok enough base gun to do some affordable but effective upgrades.
Back in the day there were RIA 2011s upgraded by Hayes Custom for a decent price, and this may be a bit nicer than those.
Oh man! Those would be cool to check out as well. Thanks for watching!
RIA's are NOT 2011's. They are the very definition of a Double Stack 1911, just like the Para Ordnance guns that RIA are copies of. So many people throw the slogan's out there of 2011 this and that when they aren't the same thing. Sorry for the rant.
@@CountryBoy-zl4fh yes i know Staccato (and technically also SVI Infinity) own the rights to that name. No, nobody except for them gives a shit. If 1911 has twice the magazine, it's 2011 to all of us.
Yes i know not all parts are compatible. But with most 2011s being custom fit garbage they won't take spare parts anyways (yes i just insulted custom 2011s like that, deal with it). Heck, the BUL not-2011s even have different magazines - and they are objectively superior.
@@texasranger24 NOPE, you still don't get it and most people out here don't either. A DS 1911 like Para Ordnance, RIA and Kimber DS9 just to name a few are guns that have 2 major components Slide & Frame with the internals that go along with each. A 2011 design gun ( and I did not mention anything about Staccato and the branding rights cause it makes no difference) is one with 3 major components Slide & Frame & Grip module and the components that fit each of those as well. The two are nowhere near the same. I'm old enough that I was shooting USPSA in the early 90's when both of these platforms were brought to market.
@@CountryBoy-zl4fh but then you have off-brand 3 piece designs like BUL that are called double stack 1911s for legal reasons, yet they fit the 3 part design.
While i understand your naming convention by design style, it's legally false to use that because there are "2011"s that you legally can't call that. Which is why i rambled on about patent/branding laws. Your distinctions do make sense, the laws don't. As is usually the case...
Dope, may have to buy one of these as my next pistol
Yeah I think you’d enjoy it for sure!
Thanks for always kicking out amazing content. Would you recommend going this route for someone entering the 2011 scene, vs picking up one of the new offerings from BUL Armory?
I’d say yes. You can get this gun stock for sub $700 bucks. If you end up liking it and can start to really push the performance of the platform then I’d say jump into the Bul Armory area.
Should hook up the prodigy i want to see what y'all do to it
I have one Vinny did up for us and I put a metal grip on it. I def need to get on the range with it, now that it’s all done! Thanks for watching!
@@RogerBarrera Nice can't wait to see also can we get a comparison of them both after being hooked up that would be awesome 😎
This with that new streamlight hlx would be a nastyyyyy carry set up
I'd like to see these companies work more with the factory gun companies like one of em did with Glock. I think it was Monsoon tactical and it was exclusive to "Firearms Depot" like for example I would rather my 365 AXG legion have a chunk port coming from the barrel and slide vs my barrel ending before the "comp" the gasses just get pushed out vs trying to escape up due to more pressure built up in the barrel, it's like science pretty much, it just does!
is this the carry or duty version? thank you love this
4.25” carry. Duty is 5” I believe
Do you think the issues were due to the porting and needing a different recoil spring?
Oh monsoon
Ok so if I heard you right (I want the thumbcliff) I need to get the x300a or u but also need to get the qd? For it to fit my prodigy 4.25 or is that just for the tisas?
It’s the X300u A model. That is the QD model. Check out our full video on the thumbcliff. It’s on our channel and breaks everything down.
Did you change the recoil springs?
dang safety oops! he got owned
Awesome video yet again.. Any independence day promo codes coming up?
Yep! Make sure to be subscribed to our newsletter or follow us on IG.
2500.00 wtf never
Sick video and sick build. I have the same gun and have upgraded and ported mine as well. It shoots amazing!
Regarding the accuracy you were seeing. I was getting similar groups on mine before and after porting. The factory barrel bushing was VERY loose. .006-.007" clearance on the diameter with the barrel, and worse yet, it was loose in the slide. I got a Wilson combat bushing and it dropped right in, yet was still a little loose in the frame but I tightened up the clearance with the barrel by about .003". My 25 yard groups went from 6" to about 4".
I took some measurements and found the slide ID was too large, and the distance from the muzzle to the locking lug groove was too short. I got an EGW .100" gap bushing, .705" OD, gunsmith fit ID, and fit it to the slide and barrel. I have not shot it yet with the new bushing but I expect it will certainly tighten up the 6" groups I was getting with the factory bushing, and likely do better than the 4" groups with the Wilson bushing. As you said, can't expect a budget gun of this price to have a super accurate barrel, but if I was getting 4" groups with a loose barrel bushing, I would expect a little tighter with a well fit bushing. I can only shoot a 3" group at 25 yards (sandbag support) with a really accurate gun at best anyways.
Luckily this gun takes standard commander 1911 barrel bushings (barrel OD is the same as a 45 caliber barrel). I paid $25 for the EGW gunsmith bushing, however it did take a lot of fitting.
I paid $750 for my gun, did a full tune up, trigger, thumb safety, mag well, blended the grip safety and frame, stippled the grip module, full length guide rod, barrel bushing, and replaced some springs. I did all the labor myself (parts, tune up and barrel porting) and I have $1010 into it not including the Holosun EPS. I can't imagine how a gun could perform much better for $1000.
Awesome video, cerakote job and stippling is absolutely amazing! Keep up the great work.
Question for you…. Is the Mac 9 DS worth it for a few hundred more?? Are you doing a video with the Mac 9 or did I miss one already? Great content guys!
We showed it with two other budget options. I dig the mac9. I think for the price point it’s the closest to a budget staccato
Send it back and get a Kart barrel to bring it up to Staccato level.
Excellent video and review. What trigger was installed and the website please?
It’s the new Extreme Tempest from ExtremeShooters.com
@@RogerBarrerathank you for the information and great video as well.
Another important question. What camera do you use for your field footage. Video quality is insanely good.
Haha thanks. Right now I use a Nikon Z6.
Sorry if you said in the video and I missed it but is the monsoon gun 4.25" or 5"?
4.25”
Uhhhh $1900 well not sure. I would start with a better barrel and then trigger and reliability job. Nice range toy though.
Is it any staccato magwell that will fit.?
I took the one off my Gen2 grip from my XC and used that.
Are these small enough to be concealed carry with a decent holster?
I’d say so. 4.25” so similar to a g17.
Roger can you do the same accuracy test with a staccato p and then with another with Vinny gmgk?
Prob not. Would require us to buy a staccato so it would be the same comparison.
We need a shadow systems xr920p review
Hey Roger, did BUL ever square away that barrel away for you? The one with the huge bur?
Yep, just waiting on it to clear customs and get back to us. Full part 2 video will be coming out.
@@RogerBarrera Awesome, cant wait...
Bro, pleaae!!! Why did you not do this to the MAC 9DS?!?!?! Why?????!!!!!😫
Haha we have something special planned for the Mac9s. This gun is only $700 so we wanted to see how low we could keep the budget on a fully tricked out gun.
Awesome!!! I have the MAC 9DS and love it, but want to see what you guys do to it. I need me some ideas. Great video, guys 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼@RogerBarrera
@@RogerBarrera YES!!! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with. I want to customize mine. I do love this Tisas version you have though!
I'm currently applying as much lipstick to a pig (Girsan 2311) as I possibly can to see just how much this turd will polish. This reaffirms my poor decision making. Thank you.
Hahaha yes! Great way of putting it! 🤣😂
I’m thinking of getting a 2011, but I’m not sure it’s out of Tisas B9R carry or Kimber KDS9c
The Tisas is trash. Got rid of mine after a month.
The Kimber is much nicer between the two you mentioned.
I would suggest BUL Armory, the Dan Wesson DWX or a Staccato.
Kimber is over priced and complete garbage 🤷
I hated my Tisas. I tried to like it but it was hot garbage. The trigger, even after tuning, was 🤢 grip was slicker than owl shit. The optic mounting was so tight it took the anodizing off of my EPS and I also had to use a riser plate to make it work with the sights.
I’d never go this route again. The lowest I would go in terms of a DS1911 would be the prodigy.
I’ll stick with my DWX, BUL’s and Staccatos.
yea nicccccccceeeee
That the full size or carry eps?
Fullsize EPS
Maybe you should work the slide more
👍🏽💯👍🏽💯
Wasn’t impressed with it -I think the stock version as good and little better then all the work on the other one but will say it seemed to be faster and looked like it came down a little faster.
My 2 cents was I didn’t think the squeez was worth the juice.
Well, I appreciate you taking the time to check out the video and giving respectful constructive feedback. 👍🏼👊🏻
🤘🤙💪🇺🇲
I'll give you $20 and a half used tub of rejuvenating bath salts for a Rhodie hoodie.
2nd
Tisas or spend some more and get the bul sas ii
What do you guys think?
Damn Roger you never seize to amaze me bruh. At the beginning I would have liked it better if you guys would have used targets to get a better visual difference between the two pistols opposed to using the silhouette that's full of holes, hard to define what did what and where between the two pistols but overall good video guys. 😎
What was name of vinny's company
Monsoon Tactical
@@RogerBarrera ty brother
Happy with a 5 plus inch group Really?
For a $700 budget gun yeah. Like I said in the video man I have Sigs that are more and group the same. We’re gonna put out a video soon showing what different groupings are like with different pistols from different manufacturers in their stock configuration.
I target practice @ 5-7 yards max nearly every range session. 25 yards with a pistol and a 6-8" circle isn't necessarily easy, I'd love to see amstaffer1's video proof of his own but I didn't see any. If you're going to say a 5" grouping is bad with a budget DS 1911 then I'd ask you to put the proof in the pudding! We all got phones and there's a little upload button too! 😜 Ohhhh yeeeaaaahhhhhh
You're talking way too fast bro. At what tactical? Who did that get up?
Monsoon Tactical, they’re in the title and description too. 👍🏼👊🏻
