Don't try to pull that card. She's been over scored in every other competition solely due to her celebrity status and American passport-the over scoring and what you're considering "under scoring" both have nothing to do with the color of her skin. This was the first competition in which she was somewhat scored fairly (excluding vault and floor).
@@carolineprice4676 Gabby won the Olympics, she wasn't the star. She was an unknown and they never talked about her. Jordyn Wieber was a superstar. Gabby never had any privilege.
I agree Mariah, I don't usually say things like that but seriously those deductions were ridiculous, the landing was either 1/10 or 3/10ths I've seen people get deducted less for jumping way off the mat, or falling to their bum and getting deducted less. Gabby's routine was near perfect, Barr the dismount. Everybody agrees, the score was wrong!
The only other deduction I saw was the ring leap, her back leg wasn’t bent/high enough. All together I’d say maybe 5 tenths-6 tenths should’ve been deducted.. not 1.3
The height on Gabby’s Tkachev was incredible! I mean her amplitude on bars has always been amazing, but it still takes my breath away every time I see it! 😮😍
I'm watching a bit late, but I did notice Gabby didn't hit a few of her skills (none of the tumbling) most of her dance I would say, it's crucial to make sure you're hitting all of your skills.
Skarlet Starlet The scoring system served i't's purpose in that we actually understand that some moves are harder than others, but now that everyone is aware of that the judges are doing exactly the same things as when we had the perfect 10 model and it's causing confusion. Gabby should have been scored higher. They did this to Mustafina at Baku 2015 in floor finals. That was a mess.

No freaking way Gabby should've only gotten a 14.966 on beam! The start value was 16.3 and she only had the small, barely noticeable hop on the landing. The routine was darn near perfect. They didn't want her to get this win clearly...but she got it anyway. Way to go Gabby!
Switch to switch half- not even close to 180 degree split, at least 1 if not 3 tenths. Switch ring leap- not even remotely close to proper execution, at least 3 tenths if not 5. Probably took another tenth for that since they were being strict on beam.

kras118 That's like getting a piece of pie but no fork to eat it with. Encouraging interest in a sport or competition requires televising it for people to see what has been accomplished. At least, show the entire series of events either for women OR men, rather than only pieces of each. Some people, like myself, tend to WORK on something while they watch. You can't do that with your butt parked in front of a monitor.
I think you misread my comment as an endorsement for limited television coverage. Rather, I was explaining the difference between a competition and a broadcast (since the original comment appeared to confuse the two). Then I expressed appreciation for the UA-cam channel for USA gym. I too like to do other things (such as work) while watching, which I can when something is on my TV or on my tablet. in fact, I don't have cable or network TV, and I rely on streams and UA-cam, which again I am very grateful for. Nonetheless, my comment seems to be displeasing to you. While I am not sure why, I am happy to agree to disagree
kras118 lol NO. No. Neither the tone, content or quality of your comment and opinion were "displeasing." I was venting because quality coverage of amateur sports has been sadly sacrificed for all of the "darling" money-making pro sports of the media and their alleged fan base, and yet, those very amateurs are EXPECTED to bring home dozens of titles and medals in international events such as World Championships and the Olympics. After PARENTS of those young athletes have spent virtually their last dollar providing training, transportation, specialized high-priced coaching, food, clothing and gear for their kids for years, they are at least entitled to adequate coverage to show their progress in the interim period between major events. If they are going to cover an event at all, then they should cover it all, or not at all. That was all I was trying to say. And believe me, if I didn't have an elderly, somewhat disabled parent who needed to have some of the entertainment provided by a few programs, I would terminate my cable television coverage in a heartbeat because, in my opinion, prime-time programming through recent years has become nothing but a trash collection of contrived, phony, pre-scripted "reality."
Trust me, I definitely fantasize about how I would like to broadcast the competitions myself! I definitely agree that a lot gets sacrificed for the sake of many other things that have very little to do with the competition (unfortunately!) I've been very happy to give up my TV, but I totally get it about your parent- my mother definitely looks to tv as an important source of entertainment (even though the landscape of television is quite different than when she was growing up!) In any case, let's hope for some quality coverage of the upcoming Nationals and Trials, as well as the Olympics, of course !
Does anybody know what the song/beat was called the one that always plays in the beginning of the NBC Broadcast ?It also plays like when they're going to commercials!😮😁👍💜
Bretschneider deserved a better commentary. Yes, he dropped on that double twist, but he got back up and was flawless. And he stuck the landing like a boss. And that was a hard drop too. But after the drop commentary just talked about it and how he had to be tired and focused on it. By the end of the program they were still hung up on it. I know the idea of commentary is to inject expertise so viewers can understand and appreciate, but say your thing and move on. It's like you watch his performance; which has taken him years and years of hard work and he drops. And all anyone remembers is that drop. Too bad.
I just watched the 2016 Olympic test event and I was like 'wow brazils good' and now I'm watching this and they don't even compare to USA's not as experienced gymnasts

Does anybody know what the song/beat was called the one that always plays in the beginning of the NBC Broadcast ?It also plays like when they're going to commercials!😮😁👍💜
Am i the only one here that can't even do a cartwheel?😂
Anna Kristensen i can't😂

"And UNLESS SOMETHING HAPPENS Maggie should be on her way to the Olympics..."
