      Don't try to pull that card. She's been over scored in every other competition solely due to her celebrity status and American passport-the over scoring and what you're considering "under scoring" both have nothing to do with the color of her skin. This was the first competition in which she was somewhat scored fairly (excluding vault and floor).

      @@carolineprice4676 Gabby won the Olympics, she wasn't the star. She was an unknown and they never talked about her. Jordyn Wieber was a superstar. Gabby never had any privilege.

      I agree Mariah, I don't usually say things like that but seriously those deductions were ridiculous, the landing was either 1/10 or 3/10ths I've seen people get deducted less for jumping way off the mat, or falling to their bum and getting deducted less. Gabby's routine was near perfect, Barr the dismount. Everybody agrees, the score was wrong!

    • @gabisimms1132
      @gabisimms1132 3 роки тому +6

      The only other deduction I saw was the ring leap, her back leg wasn’t bent/high enough. All together I’d say maybe 5 tenths-6 tenths should’ve been deducted.. not 1.3

      I'm watching a bit late, but I did notice Gabby didn't hit a few of her skills (none of the tumbling) most of her dance I would say, it's crucial to make sure you're hitting all of your skills.

    • @LCAmarkymark
      @LCAmarkymark 8 років тому +4

      Skarlet Starlet The scoring system served i't's purpose in that we actually understand that some moves are harder than others, but now that everyone is aware of that the judges are doing exactly the same things as when we had the perfect 10 model and it's causing confusion. Gabby should have been scored higher. They did this to Mustafina at Baku 2015 in floor finals. That was a mess.

    One thing I wished NBC did was show more gymnastics and less of gymnasts sitting around and talking. Like okay, talk about the gymnast and other stuff but SHOW gymnastics. That's why I prefer to watch the live streams without NBC especially for the American Cup. Normally for Classics, Trials, etc. they show more

      Her father isn't dead, he was once charged with child negligence and left her life. When he tried to come back into her life recently, she accused him of being a gold digger trying to cash in on her fame. She publicly called him a deadbeat and said that he was not nor ever would be a part of her life.

    No freaking way Gabby should've only gotten a 14.966 on beam! The start value was 16.3 and she only had the small, barely noticeable hop on the landing. The routine was darn near perfect. They didn't want her to get this win clearly...but she got it anyway. Way to go Gabby!

    • @saragrant9749
      @saragrant9749 6 місяців тому

      Switch to switch half- not even close to 180 degree split, at least 1 if not 3 tenths.
      Switch ring leap- not even remotely close to proper execution, at least 3 tenths if not 5.
      Dismount- hop back and very low chest on landing (Nastia points that out), probably another 3 tenths. Yes, the score WAS accurate.

    AS!!!!! I finally found the coverage of this!!!!! I am SO much of a gymnastics nut. My love for it has got to be unhealthy.. but hey, it's not cocaine or anything so I am doing well for myself to only have an addiction to sport... It can't harm me; it only will continue to inspire me and force me to aim higher with my aspirations in life.. so SHOUT OUT to all of the tirelessly hard working gymnasts out there for teaching me a thing or two about life while they compete in what is arguably the hardest sport in the world!

    • @Emmehxx
      @Emmehxx 8 років тому +7

      +The Lil' Ginger ! Her chest was practically on her knees on the landing of both her standing full and her dismount, both .5 in deductions I believe. Plus the step on the landing, and she was slightly off balance in her turn, which you could see since she put her arm down to disguise it. Probably took another tenth for that since they were being strict on beam.

    Apparently neither USA Gymnastics nor NBC know what "Full Broadcast" means. It does NOT mean the SECOND HALF. Where is the "Full Broadcast" of the FIRST HALF??

    • @kras118
      @kras118 8 років тому +4

      Since this was the broadcast that aired on NBC, it is the full broadcast, no? The full competition (which is different than a broadcast) was not aired on NBC. USA Gym does in fact post the entire competition as far as I know. Back in the day, we only ever saw the broadcast version lol. So I'm very thankful USA Gym YT gives us so much!

    • @tackssherbo7104
      @tackssherbo7104 8 років тому +1

      kras118 That's like getting a piece of pie but no fork to eat it with. Encouraging interest in a sport or competition requires televising it for people to see what has been accomplished. At least, show the entire series of events either for women OR men, rather than only pieces of each. Some people, like myself, tend to WORK on something while they watch. You can't do that with your butt parked in front of a monitor.

    • @kras118
      @kras118 8 років тому +2

      I think you misread my comment as an endorsement for limited television coverage. Rather, I was explaining the difference between a competition and a broadcast (since the original comment appeared to confuse the two). Then I expressed appreciation for the UA-cam channel for USA gym. I too like to do other things (such as work) while watching, which I can when something is on my TV or on my tablet. in fact, I don't have cable or network TV, and I rely on streams and UA-cam, which again I am very grateful for.
      Nonetheless, my comment seems to be displeasing to you. While I am not sure why, I am happy to agree to disagree

    • @tackssherbo7104
      @tackssherbo7104 8 років тому +2

      kras118 lol NO. No. Neither the tone, content or quality of your comment and opinion were "displeasing." I was venting because quality coverage of amateur sports has been sadly sacrificed for all of the "darling" money-making pro sports of the media and their alleged fan base, and yet, those very amateurs are EXPECTED to bring home dozens of titles and medals in international events such as World Championships and the Olympics. After PARENTS of those young athletes have spent virtually their last dollar providing training, transportation, specialized high-priced coaching, food, clothing and gear for their kids for years, they are at least entitled to adequate coverage to show their progress in the interim period between major events. If they are going to cover an event at all, then they should cover it all, or not at all. That was all I was trying to say. And believe me, if I didn't have an elderly, somewhat disabled parent who needed to have some of the entertainment provided by a few programs, I would terminate my cable television coverage in a heartbeat because, in my opinion, prime-time programming through recent years has become nothing but a trash collection of contrived, phony, pre-scripted "reality."

    • @kras118
      @kras118 8 років тому +1

      Trust me, I definitely fantasize about how I would like to broadcast the competitions myself! I definitely agree that a lot gets sacrificed for the sake of many other things that have very little to do with the competition (unfortunately!) I've been very happy to give up my TV, but I totally get it about your parent- my mother definitely looks to tv as an important source of entertainment (even though the landscape of television is quite different than when she was growing up!) In any case, let's hope for some quality coverage of the upcoming Nationals and Trials, as well as the Olympics, of course !

      I've always thought of him as the 'civilian' who isn't a gymnast and because of that he knows questions to ask for the people watching at home that aren't the gymnasts who know exactly what is going on.

    • @malluu3
      @malluu3 8 років тому +4

      +goodyougetastar Why does he keep saying the Gabby Douglas would be the first to go to back to back Olympics since Nadia Comaneci? I'm only half way through the broadcast and he's said it twice. Why doesn't someone correct him? The most recent American female gymnasts to go to back to back Olympics were Dominique Dawes (1992, 1996, 2000) and Amy Chow (1996, 2000) and there have been tons of gymnasts from other countries who went to two or more Olympics.
