This is why Emmitt is one of my favorite players of all time. Look up the word humble in the dictionary and there you will find his picture. Thanks Emmitt.

Very well stated and very true, the man has more class in his pinky finger than many will ever even grasp the meaning of what the word is about.

Abso-frickin-lutely and when the team needed him the most, is when he delivered the most. That is a HOF, most rushing yards, 3 time Superbowl Champion running back and if Jones would have parked his ego and gave Jimmy Johnson his due, it probably would have been 5 Championships in a row.

    • @DuecePiece

@@randycrocker9459 oh man agree 100%, Switzer won one off of Jimmy's team alone- but you're right, if Jerry would stop being every position in the organization and just be an owner they would have been all set. Jimmy was the goat for sure, I'm just glad I got to live to see it happen- even if it was way too brief

Emmitt is right where he should be, his vision and ability to find a crease is 2nd to none then the cut and 10-15 yard burst still amazes me. He made others seem as they were in slow motion in that demonstration of God given ability and personal preparation. I speak of it often and still marvel at that uncanny ability he possesses. Thanks Mr. Smith...

When people talk about the "most dangerous offensive plays/players in the modern era", I inevitably tell them I think the offensive line and the lead draw of the Cowboys in the mid-90's was the most feared, most dominating offensive system I can ever remember, going back to the early 80's. I know the 49er's fans won't like that, and IT IS NOT A SHOT AT ANYONE ELSE, but everyone on the planet knew it was coming, and it could not be stopped. Cars.

    • @wokejoke2675
      @wokejoke2675 2 роки тому

The Cowboys didn't have a consistent offensive line in the 90's. Only Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei started in all 3 Superbowls. Both of them were also starters on the 3-13 and 1-15 teams.

Couldn't possibly agree more with you, the number 1 supporter for that is Emmitt Smith. Emmitt has more love and respect for Moose than he can hide. Both men are humble and just pure class acts. If ever a blocking fullback deserved a gold jacket, it's Moose and he should be placed right next to # 22 in the Hall of Fame. That is as it should be...

That gentleman and you are shining examples of how it should be handled by fans of whatever sport they choose to follow. As with him, I applaud, thank, and tip my hat to you. Top shelf.

This should give hint as to why Emmitt is the Greatest of all time. Better than Payton, Sanders and whomever you name. He ran with his mind. His intelligence. He could read a defense and understand run schemes and blockage better than anyone. That's why he has so many records and could carry a drive and lasted so long. All the other backs were clearly more faster, stronger, quicker, and elusive than Emmitt, but Emmitt knew that so he relied on his mind and intelligence. That's how he could carry a team through injury like the famous Giants game where he injured his shoulder or Super Bowl 28 where he scored two touchdowns, including on an 8 play drive where he ran the ball 7 times!!! That's unheard of.
Walter never did that. Brown or Sanders never did that. Emmitt was a consistent runner and has the least amount of carries under 4 yards than the rest of the great backs. The proof is drives like those mentioned above and the fact that he rarely breaks a long run of 20 or more in comparion to all the other great backs. So it's not about the fact that he wasn't the biggest, fastest, strongest, etc, it's about the fact that a dominant game by Emmitt was not getting loss yards under 4, which means he can CARRY a drive and a team.
So who is the greatest? It depends on how you measure greatness. If you want the back who makes the longest runs and has a high average per carry, who is also big, strong, fast, etc., then Emmitt is not the best. You go for Barry Sanders and Walter Payton Jim Brown and others. Yet if you want a back who has a little of the skills above but instead of many long runs, his skill is to not lose yards or have the least amount of runs under 4 yards, then you go for Emmitt Smith. Emmitt is the Greatest. I'm taking the back who has the least amount of loss yards and runs under 4 yards all day, because that means this back is more consistent and can carry a drive himself, like Emmitt Smith in Super bowl 28 and the 1994 Giants Game. Emmitt the GOAT.

Abdul-Haiy Muhammad I must take exception to your statement about Walter Payton. Payton's ability to read the defensive line allowed him to create those long and beautiful runs. I strongly believe both these men are, the most exceptional running backs, the NFL will ever see. Statistics aside, these two running backs had one thing, that I believe was lacking in so many other running backs........heart. Oh sure, one can make numerous counter claims, arguments etc about what exactly defines a great running back in the NFL, but in my book, both Payton and Smith are not just great running backs, they are exceptional running backs. I believe it is their hearts that allowed them to accomplish what they have accomplished. Even Emmitt Smith, tipped the proverbial hat to, the great Walter Payton. He knows. He knows.........🏈

Abdul-Haiy Muhammad. Damn right also look at his highlights discuss the legs and never stops moving if you hit a wall he just pumped harder or he cut left or right if there was magical dude that could make plays it was him I was just seven years old or 6 when the 92 Cowboys won the Super Bowl but I'll never forget that 90s team best team ever in my opinion

goat-the best & smartest running back ever, small in stature but had a Huge heart, like he said he understood the blocking schemes which a lot of running backs don't, thats why he's a champion, lineman love to block for running backs like him because they know when they make that whole he's going to be right there running through it

Early in his career, he faced teams that were top notch in the NFC East. Some HOF players and coaches. The playoffs against the 49ers and Packers. The Superbowls against the Bills and Steelers.
Over 23,500 combined total yds in 248 games including playoffs.
sidenote: the Bills lost all 4 Superbowls to the NFC East.

and you don't know anything about professional football....anybody who has that massive amount of success at that level has to have great players and a great system around them.
and yes, even Barry Sanders had multiple Pro Bowl offensive linemen blocking for him.
as well as two different Pro Bowl wide receivers.

Lol...Sanders career leader in tackles for a loss. And not because of his line..he had 2 all-pros and 1 went to HOF. It was because of his running style. Also had Herman Moore and Perriman to stretch defenses..his team wasnt good? Went to playoffs 5-6 times in 10 years, hardly indicative of a bad team. Blocking? Sanders a better blocker? Short yardage runner? Receiver? No No and No
