@@NuYawk You’re welcome. I love retail, I love malls, I love department stores. It’s just common sense to me to watch this video. I think this is the smoothest, most high quality video of this location on UA-cam. Imagine your videos if you filmed malls. You would get VIEWS.

I am so happy they kept the beautiful Wooden Otis Escalators. However, they are not the original ones!!! If you look at archives pictures of macy*s Herald Square when it opened in 1902...Broadway Building it notes there were only 4 Wooden Escalators....which went from Basement to 4th Floor and they only went UP..to go down one had to use stairs or Manually Operated Lifts. A macy*s Security Guard once told me the oldest existing Wooden Escalators
are the one's behind the doors where the Broadway Building ends behind the Seventh Avenue Building. They actually show these Escalators in 1947 movie "Miracle On 34th Street". These apparently date from 1919.. and the treads were changed to metal around 2004-2005. The wider ones in the Eastern part of the store date from the mid 1920's. Just an FYI.🙂
Come to think of it macy*s isn't the only one to louse up the decor in a renovation. SaksFifthAvenue Main Store at 611 Fifth Avenue also messed up their Main Floor Renovation. It used to be very genteel and elegant...now too modern looking. Looks like any other Saks now! Hopefully, TIFFANY & CO. will not mess up their Main Floor at 727 Fifth Avenue....people expect it to remain as it is show in that beautiful 1961 movie bearing it's name. Let's just wait and see!
Always loved macy*s herald square location in Manhattan. Lived here for five years and usually visited here at least twice a week. Too bad they messed up the Main Floor and Mezzanine by removing the beautiful beige marble, balustrades around the marble pillars, chandeliers and brass trim. It really made the place look elegant/dignified. Now it looks like any other store....too much white!!! At least they kept some of the beautiful old 1920's Wooden Otis Escalators. Thanks for doing that macy*s!
Nice going! Looks like I'm behind on your shout outs! There is a few videos aready lined up for this week, but I promise ... coming soon! As always, thanks buddy!
where do the customers park their car and how do they travel with loads of items holding from one store to another...... just a question came to my mind from a guy from a small city outside US
There are parking garages all over Manhattan but they are expensive and can make you wait quite a long time to retrieve your car. Honestly, most people take mass transportation into the City (train, bus, etc) and get around the City with either mass transportation (subway, buses, or taxis, Ubers, etc. Buy only what you can carry. If you like , most stores will ship to your home but that will cost you ... but not as much as that parking spot in the garage! Thanks for watching Johnny7x!

A very interesting video! The department looks great! Thank you for the tour! It looks that there are not many people there. Is it because of the quarantine or is it usually like that?
Thanks for watching Marianna! The video was shot several weeks ago, before any big worries or quarantines. Just your typical Sunday afternoon in the Herald Square Macy's!
Now THIS is a department store. Not those 2 floor understaffed anchor spaces in suburban and rural malls.
Thanks for watching Niko!
