If the German sniper has a Gewehr 98, he has a five round internal magazine, so five shots before he has to reload. it's the movie 1917 I saw it in theaters a few years ago the plot is a British troop is delivering a message too a group of soldiers too call off an attack
This is how I envisioned things whenever I asked to be excused from class (with a hall pass made from wood) for the bathroom in Green Valley Elementary School.
The German sniper was quite clever. He silenced his weapon and aroused the curiosity of the English soldier who went up to make sure the enemy had been hit. Finally, two young men fighting and dying at the will and whim of the powerful. Human cruelty!
When I was 14 in something called HVU. We used actual surplus Nazi Mauser rifles, from the occupation in ww2. We were expected to hit the bullseye at 300 meters with iron sights. Point is, no one would miss a guy standing like that at ca 100 meters.
Because it’s a movie. A soldier behind enemy lines in any war would have a round chambered. Without a doubt. But, he would also have the safety selected to “safe”. At first contact, his finger would place the safety off to be ready to fire.
