After all the vids I have watched cutting hay, I finally see someone cutting the corners properly ! Well done sir . Alex
So glad to see you posting so often. We love keeping up with your family. God bless you and yours.
Thank you so much! Been trying to stay on a 3 day a week schedule!
Man I just love this type of living. Nothing like working the land.
I love to watch hay being made!
I remember the smell of the hay, seeing the sweat on my Dad's brow and a smile and a wave as he passed by. Standing to the side of the field with Mom holding lunch and water for him. You brought back good memories. Thank you. Blessings to you and yours ❤
Talk about bringing back memories, I spent many hours doing this in my younger days, only it was a Ford 3000 diesel tractor, we cut enough hay every year with 3 501 sickle bar mowers to keep 200 head of beef cattle feed, and of course all we had back then was a Massy Ferguson square baler too, so yep, we worked all summer! Great video, thanks for bringing back some great memories with family members who are no longer with me!
Gotta make hay while the sun shines. Thank again for the videos, Jared
I like your music but I love the sounds of the tractor and the sickle mowing! Peaceful!
Good morning! You make work look so easy. Glad to see you making more videos. Enjoy watching Y’all!! Be Blessed as Always.
Awesome we got little bit of our hay up Friday evening.
That old tractor does a great job! I'm impressed!
Good edge habitat for deer and field for Turkey.fixing some of your wife's biscuits in the morning.good job cutting hay.
Looks like some good hay. You'll need more this year than last.
Yes for sure!! Thankfully I’ve got more grass on the pasture this year as well
Enjoyed the video Jared. Sickle mowers do a good job. Y'all take care and God bless.
Awesome video, takes me back to my Grandpa's farm 🚜
My dad had a 235 Massey Ferguson they are really great tractors.
Oh my, I can smell that sweet hay, brings back memories from youth! We'd get to go swimming after we bailed the hay, reckon we didn't smell so sweet from the sweat and hay, we got to warsh it off before we went in Mama's! Thank you so much for sharing this 👍💛
Howdy Jared- y’all must be getting some sunshine out there. It’s done nothing but rain here and supposed to rain every day this week. Glad you’re able to get some hay put up. Take care and God bless y’all
We’ve had 2 weeks of no rain here and looks like it will be Friday when we get any
Thanks, Jared. My grandfather always had a couple of these hanging by the shop door. He made his from hedge apple wood. God Bless, stay safe. EDIT: Pittman arm that is.
That was so satisfying to watch. 🙂

Sure am enjoying all the videos you're putting out recently. That thumb sure does look awful painful still, hope it gets better soon.
I have a walk behind sickle bar mower 42" cut . It would take me all day to cut that field lol.
Haha yes for sure!!
man i miss those Mountins
I like your background music ☺️🎶
Get er done! 👍
Great video! Preciate y'all!
I just bought a decent 501 sickle mower. That was good advice on keeping that moving part greased.
What was the name of the pin I think you called it?
Only thing right now is I can't get the pully to turn. What good cause it to seize up like that?
If pulley won’t turn you may have a bearing froze up behind it where shaft comes through. They are great machines and pretty easy to work on
Also if the belt and pitman is on it could be something fouled up there keeping it from turning
@@FlutyLickHomestead 👍 thanks
How do you plant the hay in a field that big?
This all is just natural grasses. Haven’t planted any of it. If you were to you’d probably need a seeder for the back of a tractor and have to plow and disc the soil. Some hays you have to replant every year or so
Please explain: You said you live 3 miles from this hayfield. Do you own this field? If not, do you rent it or make some kind of deal with the owner for the hay? How long do you leave the mowed grass there until you do the next stage? Do you get to keep all the bales or some? What in the heck did you do to your thumb? Yikes.
I mow hay on 4 fields about 3 miles from my house, this is the bigger one, this one is owned by a church and the other 3 individuals own and let me cut it for free just to keep the fields mowed down. I get to keep all of the hay as well. Usually after I cut it I bale on the 3rd or 4th day. Most drys the 3rd day after I fluff it up unless it is pretty thick like it is this year. Thumb got smashed between my boat and trailer. Took off the nail and broke the thumb!!
Ouch! I hope it heals up fast and good! 🙏🏻
@@FlutyLickHomestead Boy I bet you are having a hard time sleeping with that thumb. God bless you.
👍
💙🚜👍👍
What about the steering on these tractors?
Only steering trouble I ever had on this tractor was in high road gear it was real shaky! I’ve read of some steering problems in that model, probably why they only made it a year or 2
@@FlutyLickHomestead mine does it in high road gear but have figured out its due to one of the tierods being longer than the other side
