One thing you guys need to know, that the Journey to the West happened in Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), the novel was written in Ming Dynasty but the story's background was in Tang Dynasty. And the game's background, however, appears to be in Ming Dynasty. There're many evidences, like the long sword that the Red-butt Macaque was wielding in 2021's trailer was clearly Ming's design, and I've repeatly seen temples built in Ming Dynasty. (All the temple in this game exists in reality, you are welcome to visit them in china btw) Sun wokong was bron in late Han Dynasty (2nd-3rd centry), he was imprisoned for 500 years and went for the journey in Tang Dynasty, there is no point discussing how much the game's plot will stary from the original because it takes place nearly 1000 years later.
Also, "72 transfromations" is a mistranslation, 变 has different meanings in old and morden chinese, in this case it should mean "72 skills", that involves fire-proof, water breathing, iron skin, flying, regenerating and so on, transfromation is just one of the 72, and Wukong can turn into as many things as he like.
Thank you for your insightful comment! Indeed, "Journey to the West" is set in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) but was written in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The game's setting appears to be in the Ming era, evident from the long sword design and temples. Sun Wukong's timeline starts in the late Han Dynasty, and his journey begins in the Tang Dynasty after 500 years of imprisonment. This game, set nearly 1000 years later, understandably takes creative liberties. Thanks for enhancing our understanding!
Thank you for the clarification! You’re right that "72 transformations" is a mistranslation. The character 变 has evolved in meaning from ancient to modern Chinese. In this context, it should be "72 skills," encompassing abilities like fire-proofing, water breathing, iron skin, flying, and regenerating, with transformation being just one of them. Sun Wukong can indeed transform into countless things. Your insights help me better understand the nuances of the original text!
Having good graphic is a bonus but gameplay always come first for me. I believe it won't be a bad game and it's more akin to God of game and Nioh, even the shrines alike and I was hoping the combat mechanic could be more innovative and sophisticated but as the release date is just around the corner and after seeing numerous footages uploaded by different people, I am lowering my expectation now so that I won't get affected by all the hypes out there.
Most people who got there hand's on the game said it's a boss rush and if that's true that's really not good in my opinion. 👀 That is literally Wukong there is no way that the game should be just boss after boss and not a a lot of enemies in between not to mention parkour. Imagine having a damn monkey in the game but he isn't doing any parkouring. What makes me really believe it's a boss rush is the fact they still haven't shown any level walkthrough like most action RPG would. 👀
Yeah that’s my main concern about this game is that they pull a Cyberpunk or Day Before. I’m gonna be waiting for a physical version though so I’ll be able to see if the games good
@@punkdside i just don't see it failing at all. They showed so much imean how can it not be good at this point with all the info we received all the footage, it has to be good lol
This game will have a big problem with story telling. By the trailer looks like Wukong didn't talk that would be a problem of how the story will be, I mean, in the novel Wukong is always complaining about been tricked by gods and divinity... If the game is a boss rush probably the second game won't be well received
@@punkdside well, if the gameplay feels good for me it's ok, I want something like God of War, the devs created it inspired on GoW. But for what I saw the dodge sound is too loud and goofy 😭
Bros just enjoy the game when it comes out...this looks like the only true next gen game on ps5 and I for have not only already pre ordered but will have a blast when it's released...I also find souls like games to be geared towards sadist gamers that loved being punished when playing a game of that genre so it's refreshing to be able play a AAA game without dying every 20secs

It’s a bit late to make a video about it tho… the hype’s been there for so many years lol 😅

yeah better pay attention than be disappointed after purchase, for me personally it’s not a preorder case, I’ll be waiting after-release
It reminds me more of Ninja Gaiden. I hope it delivers

Indeed. Good point with parkours, but I think it’s 100% boss rush if we didn’t see anything else
