    The reason for the discrepancy, is that they started the Timer before he started playing. Afterward, they had to deduct 12 seconds off of that time to make, 5 minutes 8 seconds. This record will never be beaten!

    Excellent video. Only mistake i see is when you said ronnies record for the 147 was 5 mins 20 seconds. It was actually 5 minutes and 8 seconds.

    You missed one thing out that should of been said. And it probably one of the best things he has ever done and that is he won the world championship then took a whole year off from playing then turned up at the next world championship and won that.

    To quote a snooker commentator: "there's only ONE Ronnie O'Sullivan!" What a record he has amassed over the decades, and how he continues to add to the legend! Just when I think he might be losing his touch, he wins again, and then again once more!

    I may misremember this but I think when he made his 5th or 6th maximum he had made the 5 or 6 fastest maximums ever made. Or something very similar.

    I admired Stephen Hendry as a player and as a human being, great personality, but O'Sullivan is the best player there is and will be in the future. You have to have a very special mind to do for what he is capable of... Love him...

    Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan made a maximum 147 break in the quickest time ever recorded, five minutes and eight seconds, in the first round of the 1997 World Championship. O'Sullivan won £147,000 in prize money for the maximum, averaging 8.8 seconds per shot. This is from Google.

    A century break is not something many professionals struggle to achieve.... Maybe in competitive matches yes, but almost every professional can make centuries in practices with relative ease. Amateur players, however, are the ones that struggle to make them

    Two big accomplishments he can make on May 6, though.
    An eighth World Championship to pass Hendry and secure his first single-season triple crown...

    At my advanced age, I have finally learned never ever to say NEVER! No matter how great a contemporary's achievements might be, there will come a day when someone surpasses that achievement. I can still applaud Ronnie for his achievements, but I do leave room for someone someday in the future surpassing a record Ronnie has established. You and I might not live long enough to see it, but it could happen!

      Very true and wise words. I’m sure a lot of people said we wouldn’t see the like of Davis again until Hendry came along. And the same people probably said the same about Hendry until Ronnie came along

      the one thing that will definitly happen is that someone will break the ranking event record - it's going to be obvious, that judd trump will get this sooner or later, i mean ... c'mon, he's still in his late 30's and has already won over 20 ranking titles ...
      this record of ronnie will be broken; and trump is going to do it ... and i might leave a couple of tears when it happens :(

    • @BlackSeaRC
      @BlackSeaRC 4 місяці тому

      Very true. Neil Robertson scored 522 points without reply and Stuart Bingham scored 547 points, so it doesn't take much imagination to consider that Ronnie's record could be broken.

    Remember that the general standard is so much higher than it was. Ten of the top players now is better than the best of ten years ago. This was not said by me, by Hendry, Davis and Higgans.

    23 major's and only God knows how many more he will make but if he doesn't win any more major's then 23 will take a magical player to beat it and I wouldn't be surprised if he's not even Born yet which is some going.
