Erin French Shares Her Grandmother's Super Secret Holiday Cookie Recipe

What a special treat to see Erin French on Drew Barrymore's show. Those cookies look delicious.
So what is the recipe for the cookies? Drew said it would be on her show page, but I couldn’t find it. Does anyone know where I can find it?
I made a comment above with the ingredients, but thought I’d reply to anyone who asked about the recipe directly!
3½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar, plus more for coating the cookies
2 large eggs, beaten
½ cup molasses
⅔ cup chopped candied ginger
Just started watching Lost Kitchen, love it!!!!
So I was able to access Erin’s cookbook through Libby (side note: this is an amazing app if your library partners with them). I figured I’d post the ingredients seeing as so many were looking:
3½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar, plus more for coating the cookies
2 large eggs, beaten
½ cup molasses
⅔ cup chopped candied ginger
Quick question for any bakers out there! I hunted down candied ginger, but it looks very different from what is used in the video. Mine is coated in syrup. Is this still okay to use?
Thank you for the list of ingredients, very helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing the ingredients. Does it also give a written list of the directions to follow as well?
@@robinjackson9933 Absolutely!
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, beat together the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, incorporating each one fully before adding the next, then mix in the molasses. Add the dry ingredients to the bowl and blend until the dough just comes together. Stir in the candied ginger. Punch the dough down in the bowl with your fists so it’s packed tightly at the bottom of the bowl and any air bubbles have been removed. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
Using a cookie scoop, a spoon, or just your hands, form roughly 1-inch balls of dough. Roll the balls in sugar and arrange on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Gently press the top of each ball to flatten slightly.
Bake the cookies until cracks just begin to form on the surface, 8 to 10 minutes. The cookies will look underdone. Let them rest on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then use a spatula to transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Thank you so much!!
Might need to wait for Christmas supplies to be put out, that's usually when I find it.

Thanks. I ll try the ingredients s skolnik
What a difference between Kelly Clarkson and Drew Barrymore!!!! Drew lets her guests speak. She didn't interrupt Erin as she explained how to make this cookie. Drew stood opposite Erin, duplicating her moves and in the END, encouraged, uplifted and praised Erin for her book--which is absolutely prize-winning IMO--and her triumph over her struggles. She praised her for her show on Disney +, and she didn't overshadow her one bit. THAT'S HOW YOU HOST A TALK SHOW!!!!!!!!! Kudos to you, Drew. Take notes, Kelly. You've won awards, but ....I'll stop there.

Need the list of ingredients with their measurements. Nothing on the video shares how much of each ingredient is needed. Is the "secret" that no one else will be able to make this recipe? Drew please make it easier for us to find and print out recipes on your website that we've seen on your show. This was a useless video for those of us excited to try this recipe.
