One of the earliest artist and living icons to achieve EGOT status is Barbra Streisand. It's hard to imagine your ommission of her was just an oversight. Louis Nelson | Los Angeles CA..
It is covered in the another comment by Afro Angloa. Barbra Streisand won "Star of the Decade" in 24th Tony Awards 1970 . The Special Tony Award category includes the Lifetime Achievement Tony Award and the Special Tony Award. These are non-competitive honorary awards, and the titles have changed over the years. The Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre is to "honor an individual for the body of their work
@MrViralstar Thank you for your clarification that her 1970 special Tony award was in a non-competitive category, in recognition of her artistic achievements as Star of the Decade. Although I believe this is a gray area that is highly debatable, I appreciate the time and attention you provided on my behalf. Sincerely, Louis Nelson | Los Angeles CA.
Yes It is Marvin only. I added the photo to show Marvin Hamlisch as per the below sentence.. Thanks. .....In addition he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize making him the first ever to receive all five awards (later joined by Marvin Hamlisch),
Oh, I think you are grand for reading and responding to comments. That’s rare. And, yes, the narrator is lacking in apparent understanding of and ability to properly pronounce names. And these names are quite well known. Thank you.
With all due respect to Phillip Michael Thomas (who came up with this acronym)… It really should be spelled GOTE (as in Grammy, Oscar, Tony, Emmy) for two reasons: 1) That is usually the order in a calendar year (with the exception of a few years back during the COVID-19 pandemic when the Oscars did precede the Grammy Awards - one of many reasons why the Academy Awards will still go on in spite of the LA fires, for it is considered the most important of the four major entertainment ceremonies, being the oldest)…and: 2) If you spell the letters that way, the acronym is then pronounced the same as the the one for Greatest Of All Time. That’s right. GOAT. Isn’t that what Mr. Rodgers, Ms. Moreno, Mr. Brooks, Mr. Legend and others in this category are supposed to represent? They are by virtue of achieving this rare feat definitely setting the standard for what can be accomplished in the field of entertainment.
My vote is honorary awards count, and are a documented choice. The producer credit has, in the past 20 years or so, grown almost silly. Anyone who is able to write a check for $10k to maybe $50 or 75k can claim producing credit. They are not like, or in the same league as: David Merrick, Gower Champion, Mike Todd, David Belasco, Oscar Hammerstein Ist, Lee Schubert, Max Gordon…
Mike Nichols also won an Emmy for Directing Angels in America. It’s the first series of any kind to win all 7 Major Emmys (4 Acting, MiniSeries, Directing and Writing). Schitt’s Creek and The Crown would later match that record in the Comedy and Drama fields respectively.
@@jimsguts Incidental side thoughts… what a particularly dazzling career Mr. Nichols had! Great success as a comedian & director. Blessed with superior talent, excellent taste in projects & very good luck. Experienced failure rarely. There’s basically no significant award that he didn’t win.
Barbera Streisand has only won 3 out of 4 in the competitive fields. I believe the Tony was only an honorary recognition. Hence , it makes sense she is not on this list.
Some of the EGOT winners here received their wins in lame categories so Barbra Streisand should certainly be included even if it was a special Tony for Star of the Decade. That honorary award hasn’t been given to anyone else. Give the woman credit. Many people do not make the distinction and call her an EGOT winner. As it should be.
I agree your thoughts! Next time I will include and cover these scenarios.. we can include her in the list and atleast can mention as she received special Tony award like that.
@MrViralstar I don't believe you made a mistake. An honorary award isn't the same as a competitive award. This doesn't diminish Barbera's legacy. One suggestion might be to create a list of entertainers who have honorary recognition/ almost winners 😏🤷🏾♂️

Well , if Jennifer Hudson won for being a producer then Streisand should also be listed

Very fair point.
@@lnelson90004 Streisand didn’t win a Tony but got an honorary one

Yes . In that case what would be the Triple Crown of Acting ... Only 24 people, 15 women and 9 men, have achieved the Triple Crown.
My vote is honorary awards count, and are a documented choice.

Thanks and agreed. I will post another video with the inclusion of the honorary awards so that it will have a complete list.

I am wondering. I have Mike Nichols in this video. However thanks for the information.

@Buckboy2024 Sure I will upload another video to cover those remaining.
The narrator would do well to pronounce the names correctly.
