- Some wanted to see a normal flight of just cruising around, got a bit cold at the end of it but was fun. I weigh around 180lbs and i was flying an Apco Hybrid for reference.
For more info on the Sp140 you can check it out here openppg.com/shop/paramotors/o...
I can't keep a headphone cord untangled for more than 30 seconds, so I am always amazed when I watch someone easily and effortlessly unpack a para wing with all those lines.
As long as you don't let the risers go into the lines they stay untangled by themselves. It's just a branching web of lines and as long as the risers are kept together, and not allowed to just mix up in the lines, then it's fine - you don't have to do much other than wiggle them apart.
I really appreciate you taking the time to make a video like this given your busy schedule. Looking forward to seeing the results from your testing of different wings.
Such an awesome video. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
Thanks bud. I really appreciate for showing all proces.
I enjoyed the uncut Video showing great detail. Thank you.
Thanks for making the video, Paul. I really enjoyed it. My kind of flying! Bill
I am starting doing a research about this project and your video is very motivated.
I am planting join a friend in my city in Brasil that is flying alone and have fun with him in my vacations time.
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the video! I'm looking at getting into paramotoring and this kind of chill flying (no pun intended) is exactly what I aim to do. Seriously considering the SP140 for my first PPG.
I dig it! Looks like a lot of fun! Absolutely the next progression step for me!
Man you're a pioneer in EPPG! Basque in the glory Paul, it's all yours!
This video pretty much sums up what kind of flying I want to do, thank you.
Congratulate you making this open source. Well done.
Awesome video, thanks for posting.
That was a very pleasant flight, thanks for posting
This was so helpful. I'm getting into paramotoring and looking to get this SP140. Great to see what the process is actually like.
I think thats very acceptable as it is and its just going to improve, so much less to think about than petrol. Im glad you mentioned other wings as I know how light the hybrid is, great wing to inflate. Theres one massive advantage and thats not stinking the car out, plus no need to remove it from the car. Im watching this space very closely now, thanks for the great video, all the best.
Great set up! Yes, a quick release prop would be great!
Love the chill video man!!! No wacky personality is refreshing :) @ my PPG training now! Watching PPG videos getting ready for more 🪁 ING.
hearing vlogging or narration without music in my opinion is the best form of filming videos for teaching or inspiring or showing people new technology or ideas, great job, this is inspiring me to switch to electric on my new trike design as the timing has been perfect where Im just in the beginning designing phase. dont get me wrong been looking for fresh ideas from many designs and Implementing into my own. using solidworks since 1995 is a big help as well. being a trike I can carry more battery capacity. I need a motor around 25 hp to 35hp Im thinking.
Dude! As a college student the fact this fits in a trunk would be huge! I don’t have anywhere indoors to store a massive gas motor, but I want to get into paramotoring if I can spend the money.
Awesome !!! Thanks for the video. I felt like a hitchhiker flying along. Nice that i didn't feel cold LoL ;-)
Thank you very much for posting the video! Stay safe and keep having fun! ;)
the set up is really quick, thats nice
great video. Looking forward to flying myself. I also live in Oh. Thanks for sharing.
i predict some serious sales coming on , My kinda flying , congrats on another great milestone , if we keep flight duration expectaations within reason, then this is what electric flight is about at this stage given batterty tech ,, very nicely done, so thanks for posting :-)
Thanks for sharing this event. Very cool stuff. Would love to see pilot profiles!
I'm on the list for Batch 2 shipping this month, so this was a great video to see as I'm pumped to try out this para-emotor! Most of my flights from home are 40 min max so it will be so much more convenient then firing up that noisy Moster 185, the cloud of blue smoke ... and disturbing neighbors. Great video and timing, thank you!
Yeah but that Moster will keep you up for 3+ hrs. Love the sp140 tho, it's definitely on my wishlist.
Excellent! I'll watch the rest later,
Great video. This will be my procedure.
That's super cool!!!
Wow... just yesterday I was struggling to find "uncut SP140 full flight". Incredible timing!
I need this in my life...
What cells do you guys use in your battery pack? 18650 or 21700? And does it have some type of bms for over charge/discharge protection? Thanks, looking forward to get electric paramotor this year
Dude prolly just ruined ten deer hunter’s evening 😂
Nice flight, great video, I would like to have an electric paramotor too.
Excellent 👍
I need this paramotor in austria!!! 😍
very cool
Looks like roughly 10 seconds to climb 100ft so about 600ft/min climb rate on that test
If you’re thinking about a quick prop system, look at the Nirvana Instinct PPG set up. I don’t know why other manufacturers haven’t done this. Super easy! Thanks for the nice video.
Iris paramotor have also quick prop release
I replaced all those screws that you use the allen wrench on with finger-tightened wing-end bolts.
Hey open PG. I stumbled upon your videos and recognized Ohio vegetation right away. Really enjoyed the morning ride. I think if I ever pull the trigger and get into the sport I’m really liking the electric option since it so much quieter. Where are you located in Ohio? I live in Florida by Orlando. Part of my family still lives in Chagrin Falls area. Maybe someday when I’m visiting we can meet for a coffee. Thanks for taking me on the cruise.
Amazing video I wonder what wings you have in mind. I really want to fly the Ozone Spyder 3. You should get ahold of Tucker at Risky Biscuits he has tested alot or even Fly bubble paragliding over seas I forget where. Stay safe stay elevated 🙏🌄
Does one always have to keep it on or you can just gain the altitude and then turn the motor off?
Excellent! I'm super jealous. I wish that the battery life was more like 2x to 3x. I'm hoping in the next few years that battery capacity and density improves so I can get 3 hours of flying on electric!!!
Have you ever flown 3 hours? Even at flyins I don’t do that. Land get a break, something to eat etc. Get two batteries and swap :)
@@Catpanl Max flight so far was 2 hours 10 minutes, I average about 1h 30m per flight. Haven't been longer yet due to limitations on my old motor. I've got a new motor with a larger tank, I should be able to fly 3+ hours now.
How long does it take to charge? What is the expected battery life?
More videos please!!
Is there anyway I can buy just the motor and the battery?
The mire videos with that moter the better!, please
Looks like the power profile of the motor approximates the Moster 185. Any plans to kick it up a notch to match the 185 Factory R? 211lbs of thrust is pretty sweet.
Thank you for taking your time to create & share this with us.. What state is this in? I am in NJ
Amazing video! What is the range of this? Any idea how many watt hours the battery is? Max ceiling?
What wing was this on. And what was the all up weight?
Hello, how much total weight(kg) in your back?
Thanks
Hi
What size is the wing you are flying in the video ?
Curious about getting into paragliding. Do you not carry a reserve when flying a PPG? Probably no point for a low level flight like this, but in general?
Okay,
I had an idea. Heated seat in harness. Battery powered.
What sort of top cruise speed to you get with this bad boy? At at that speed, how long does it last? What is the max range you can fly point to point? Thanks for sharing!
Speed all in your wing. The motor makes plenty of power to fly for about 30 min.
I’m a 15 year 125 hour per year ppg pilot. Some questions. How much does it weigh full up? How long a flight with a 225lb guy and a 125m wing? I’ve seen such batteries catch fire both charging and flying, what safety features do you have related to this? I see you have a wait time for spare parts. Can you provide the wait time for your spare parts? What country do you source your parts from? How about the effect of rain? Can it short out? Or landing in the water? Thanks in advance.
hello mate, how much does it cost , what maximum flight duration can be achieved....greetings
When do we get a eppg with 2hrs flight time??
Great video. It definitely has me thinking for when it comes to getting my next paramotor. I just finished my flight training a few weeks ago and have 20 flights so far. Whereabouts in Ohio are you? I am towards Cincy.
He is near Yungstown I think.
Tesla found out their batteries lose significant capacity when the weather turns cold. How does say 30 degree weather impact flight time?
Nice to meet you, my name is Kyuden from Japan and I am currently in the TOP80. I am interested in your EPPG, want to know the price and how to buy it. My weak point is English.
Are you near middle field Ohio? Land looks familiar. Enjoyed your eflight
As far as I know E-props don’t have a foam core. At least the broken one I’ve seen inside was hollow with some honeycomb type structure to it. Not mine by the way ;)
Having said that, it would be a bad day to over torque the prop. I do mine by feel too but just thought I’d mention it.
Ya seems like all the new ones have foam core.
@@PDWhite Oh wow, thanks for the info. Hopefully it’s a more durable design. I was under the impression though that foam core carbon props were a little heavier which affected spool up speed.
Meu sonho, um dia vou realizar se Deus quiser.
That's a combine, he's harvesting his crop (you aren't close enough for me to tell if it's wheat or oats)
This EPPG is so incredible! How long does it take to train? I am a H2 hang glider pilot and I want to move into this! Can you point me to any resources? Thanks for the video!
Paramotor training is usually around a week. Some learn faster but i would say that is about the average time it take to get your first handful of flights in.
Since the throttle has an altimeter making automatic altitude control should be possible, like cruise control but actually maintaining altitude instead of just a constant rpm. Is that something youre working on? Or does it already have it?
I was going to ask the same thing.
@@NUMB3RL3SS doesnt seem like were getting an answer anytime soon😁
I’d like an answer to this as well!! 🙏🏻
Good idea :)
Wow
can you fly the sp 140 with paraglider wings ?
Yes
How's the supply chain in July 2022? things still on backorder for your electric PPG?
Stuff is getting better, we should have extra units in stock in 2 weeks.
Any trike project?
How long of a flight on 1 battery?
Is there any chance a 48v ebike battery could work with a motor on a tiny minimot sized paramotor? Not sure how much thrust a 48v baytery can produce. If i could get i the air for 5 minutes and find thermals, it would be worth it.
Not likely. The power (watts) you need to draw on takeoff will be too much for an ebike battery. For 48v, you'd need to draw twice the current (amps) because the voltage is half (96v is what the SP140 runs on). Smaller battery packs struggle to sustain high amperage loads.
If anything the older OpenPPG X4 could be adapted for those batteries since its in the same voltage range.
@@openppg thanks for the reply, makes perfect sense.
Jesus Christ! The moment you get an OF page I wanna be the first to know!
i would love one of these, how do people feel about you flying over their property? anyone ever get mad? great video
I had a guy (actually found out he's a 'neighbor' down my road) follow me to where I landed at a friend's farm, which was miles from his house. He approached me and essentially threatened to shoot me if I flew "near" his property again. He told me he had reported me to the cops (never heard from them). He was a real asshole. I was never below 1,000ft. But he thinks he owns the sky. So yeah, people CAN get pissed. If you do get approached by an angry homeowner requesting that you don't overfly their property, my advice is to politely agree and move on. My goal is to not piss people off. But this guy wasn't taking issue with noise - he was wanting his "privacy" and not wanting me to spy on him. Whatever.
I would agree. People get triggered and don’t think in arguments. Better leave it be and then come back to it later.
What an awesome share. Nice to see how you transported, setup in 10 minutes and were flying. Newly considering becoming a pilot. Im 240. Should this motor work for me? And curious... could you carry a spare battery? Or too much weight then? Thanks again. Awesome.
Loved the flight couldn't hear you tho:-(
Is it a coincidence that this paramotor is called the same name as your channel? Do you make them?
Yes we make them.
You sound like the theo von of paramotoring
Loved the video and love you 👀
Why does it make a motor sound. Why is it uneven? It should be constant swishing no hum.
The prop is what makes the noise, not the motor.
Motors are electric so this setup is correctly being called paramotor. Anything using gas is really a paraengine lol.
you engine vs motors guys crack me up. see you guys in jeep forums, boat forums motorcycles etc. Motors can be gas too. here's some examples. Motor oil, department of motor vehicles, motor sports, motor mounts...I could keep going. just get over it, man.
is that an engine cycle you are riding? lol.
@@slobert1970 good point. :) but is anything electric ever called engine? Do you replace your furnace engine?
@@slobert1970 it’s an English language thing. In other languages motor is electric.
8 nm = 5.90 lbs
Fuck man I want one. SOMEBODY fund me for this. Rich people I mean
Great video! You REALLY need to work on your audio!
$$$$?
