Hi Leo This is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for uploading. Love her sweet and delicate singing. See if I can get CD for my birthday :-) Best regards Satoko
@HM0880 No, you're right! The aria is Carolina speaking about her own ignorance and simplicity, she tries to set a difference between simple people and people with power and that speak lots of languages, so yes, she tries to say 'Aw do we do?' ^^.
Completely charming! Auger is always fantastic. From 2:51-2:57, it sounds like she says, " 'ow do we do?" I initially thought she lapsed into English but quickly realized it was simply my complete ignorance of Italian. (I am working hard to remedy that ignorance.) :D
This is more delightful than I'd imagined! She is totally dazzling. Wow. (Meanwhile, a "used" copy of this performance is going for $71.53. Plus shipping. Sigh. I'll keep checking back.) Thanks leoperarm!
@leoperarm She says "How do you do" in an italianate form, "auduidù", as result from the text from the libretto. I kow this because I'm Italian! :) Then, the motivation for she says it, is right what you wrote! :D
Favolosa!!!! 😍
