I have never installed a Worcester Bosch, nor have I ever quoted one. I work on that many as a breakdown engineer that I know better than to recommend one. Baxi, I don't see half as often and when I do I love working on them. I also really enjoy working on Vaillants. So for me, the Baxi is the winner of the 2. Looks, I couldn't care less as most boilers are in a cupboard or a garage. Mine for example is in an outhouse and not in the main property.
In my opinion as a technician (I only repair boilers): From the boilers found in your country is another one that I like the design more: INTERGAS - the model with 2 copper coils one above the other and cast in aluminum block :) The Baxi 600-800 boiler is my favorite because it is much easier to repair with far fewer mechanical components with problems - In my country there is a brand of kober boilers from which the Motan Mkdens model is almost identical to the Baxi boiler where the major difference is electronic board - the electronic board from the model in my country I think is more reliable built - the ones from Kober frequently ask the technicians in the country what dissatisfaction they have and what changes they want :) Pro: cheap, simple, reliable designs, generic and cheap parts (found in Bosch Group boilers but no longer use these parts because they do not break), rainwater collection and drainage system if it enters the suction pipe of the air (from "mistake"), the Gas valve on 18-24V (much more reliable), the Grundfos pump, the design of the housing and the connections more practical ... con: - Design of the electronic plate housing made on the knee - The wiring chosen is not too inspired (Bosch has not used end-to-end connectors for over 30 years (I don't think they have ever used it)) At the Worcester boiler: Pro: -designed in great detail to the components (Con: it seems designed when it is broken by something (as in the older series boilers from Junker / Bosch series 3-5000 non-condensation do not know any boiler that electronic plate) has withstood more than 2.5-3 years) - quality of plastics - the secondary heat exchanger gaskets on the heating side con: -Wilo pump - combustion chamber - although it has a unique and original design it is a pain to make repairs on it or to clean the combustion chamber of deposits. - stacked design - honeywell gas valve - I have never seen a honeywell boiler part made to be reliable, Personally only when I see the name Honeywell on a boiler part I think how to hold it :)) - today I was at a boiler more old (viessman vitogas 100 -15 years old) with honeywell gas valve in which one of the internal rubber membranes was broken and which escapes a lot of gas (through a ventilation hole that communicates with that membrane) in the room where the boiler was installed - and it is the second case of gas leakage in less than a month at exactly the same type of boiler with the same gas valve model produced by honeywell (they are the only types of gas valves that I have found gas leaks in my life. no matter how old they were and I saw thousands !!!) - Secondary heat exchanger gaskets on the hot water side. - Hydroblock with many oring joints that can lead to leaks (nobody has distilled water in the heating circuit) Conclusion: All boilers will work well if a magnetic filter is installed on the heating circuit. And I also have a recommendation: In all boilers I would recommend where it is possible to install a 50l (why 50 ? its cheap 20E) external expansion vessel that will have to be depressed from 1.5 bar at a pressure appropriate to the installation on which 0.7-1bar will be used. If the pressure variations on the heating circuit are smaller and slower then the joints with oring in the boiler and the rest of the heating installation are less stressed (Taps, press joints ...) My favorite brand is Reflex can Zilmet if it still has I maintain the quality of the past models because everyone can become greedy over time.
Thanks for the video, bit of an eye opener: #1 (Looks) - Worcester (looks more sleek and modern) #2 (Internals) - Baxi (seems to have better quality components and a simpler layout ) #3 (Strip down) - Baxi (easier access and removal) I confess I have a WC boiler for several years with which I have had no issues. I would have chosen differently had I have seen this beforehand.
Baxi is a clear winner - been thought out and obviously had a service engineer's input Bosch looks a right shambles to installing to service ! and all the extra parts required does not even make it good value !Great video Allen keep up the good work mate Thanks
Big fan of the Baxi 600 & 800 Combi. Fitted over 100 of them. Easy to install & service. I fit the occasional Worcester at the customers request, ok to fit but not confident in the long term reliability. I’m service & repairing Juniors that have leaking plastic parts - very common on these.
Are Baxi parts very expensive when compared with other makes like Vaillant? I'm in the process of getting quotes for a new boiler & one installer says this is the case - I'm not so sure though.
Hi Alan I used to have a Baxi 7 years ago he lasted only 5 years the heat exchange when nothing but problems I know things have changed now I wouldn't trust it anymore I know you know what you doing you are the Professional and you have one at home I seen your video all the best
That's more then likely down to incorrect commissioning. The baxi's I've fit in the past have had very few problems. Your system probably wasn't cleansed and inhibited properly. Your installer may have left cleanser in the system. Or non of the above. 😂
Allen the reason the front panel won't stay up is because of the divertor head facing forward if you just twist it to the side the front will stay up perfectly👍 great review I always send my die-hard Worcester customers to this video and they always see the light and now with the Baxi 800 its a easy sell. Thanks for all these videos Allen I'm an experienced gas engineer myself but I still learn a lot of new ideas from your videos.
On looks...Baxi, On servicing....Baxi On quality of parts....Baxi On making another over engineered awkward to fit/repair product . . . Worcester Bosch I wonder what 'engineers' were consulted when designing this latest Worcester offering
Thanks for another video I'm always learning from them. I recently passed my Gas course and wanted further insight while training. These videos are a great help.
You're spot on here alkan. I fitted a 2000 ladt week and thought it was horrible, I'm not the biggest Worcester fan anyway. I hated the downward tails and found everything close together like an old Remeha avanta. I also found it tricky getting a standard nut and olive to grip the brass on the prv. One good thing was the cartridge slot for the rf stat, although if you fitted a none Worcester control I'm told it avoids the warranty. Will be staying with the 600 back or even the Main Eco elite.
Im a Worcester Installer who fits 50+ Worcesters a year. Started fitting a few Baxi's recently for customers who don't want to Worcester prices. I can't disagree with this video or the majority of the comments favouring the Baxi. Really impressed with the whole range (well apart from the 200, thats a bit too flimsy). The Main compact seems the best value from the range. Problem is Worcester have such a high share of the market. Its not commercially viable in a lot of situations to hard sell the Baxi when the customer has been hard sold a Worcester by 3 or more other installers. I know the price talks to a degree but people are fearful of being sold a pile of junk. Shame really, Worcesters dominance and the whole Boxt thing makes me want to back some of the underdog manufacturers.
I'm also a WAI normally fitting around 50-60 Worcester boilers a year but now's Worcester have completely stabbed us in the back by owning 45% of boxt I've almost completely stopped installing them, some customers do still ask about them but usually, they'll listen to my advice on the build quality and if that doesn't work tell them to watch Allen video 👍good luck Stuart its good to know I'm not the only WAI engineer whose had enough of Worcester.
Baxi all the way. Fitted loads of the 600’s now fitting the 800. As for Worcester Bosch I stopped fitting these a few years back. I’ve been back to a few I’ve installed with hydro block leaking etc and as you said WB seen to over complicate there boilers, Jst won’t fit them anymore. Was never a lover of the Worcester controls and what is that condense trap and valves under the boiler all about! Seems Baxi have made another great boiler!
I'm looking to replace our Worcester Bosch combi boiler which is now 10 years old and has had several parts replaced due to leaking, this was a one off repair by WB costing £285ish 2 yes ago. It still working but has started leaking again. Watching a Baxi review of the swapout of a/our WB compared to the ingoing Baxi 800 suggests the layout of and component materials of the Baxi outweighed the Worcester Bosch offerings. Your reviews seem to favour for similar reasons too with the Ideal Max coming a close 2nd. Cheers to you guys who give us consumer's some real insight to help us make better choices..
My thoughts before watching the full vidoe are! I love baxi 600 range probably my favourite boiler to install, and also reasonable priced, easy to maintain and a great warranty. Worcester over priced and inferior to the baxi but unfortunately the general public know more about them because of there successful advertising.
After watching this I won't be rushing to install a Worcester 2000, they never seem to make there boilers engineer friendly! I will be sticking to my beloved Baxi 600 and 800 range.
From an installers prospective and servicing hands down Baxi 600. I love Bosch power tools but I can’t work out where their innovation went into that boiler..
forse hai ragione, ma facciamo un pò di chiarezza, si critica quest modelloche è il prodotto base della Bosch, se guardi la bosch 9000 magari ti fai una idea migliore
I have found the Baxi to be a good solution as you can use the bracket to put the pipes at the back of the boiler without increasing the depth of the boiler. Also make sure you fit the prv before fitting the other pipe work. Bit of a nice touch on the Baxi if water enters the outer flue the tube takes it into the condensate. Worcester were very good 20 years ago but the majority of the new boilers composite blocks pin hole at regular intervals. Not that easy to replace.
Allen Informative as always. Installers will choose BAXI all day. Flue Options Pipe Options and serviceability . The 600 is a fine Boiler Wb are over engineered and difficult to work on in tight spaces . Also wiring controls is clearly another biggie: choice is very important here. I saw comments re: not a fair review etc etc ....If a product stands up it stands up , if it doesn't it doesn't.BAXI wins in my opinion and would do against most boilers in this category.. Great work mate,,
To be honest I've always tried to avoid installing Worcesters, like you say they are needlessly complicated to the point of being stupid, the integral filling loops need a special key that is never there, the instructions are written by scientists and lawyers full of jargon and just make life difficult for no reason. Thought they were top of the range at one point but have gone down hill big time, a bit like vaillant. Since watching your videos I've defiantly started to like baxi's a lot more. Keep up the great work
my observation as not a plumber. Since its plumbers who fit boilers making the processes of installation and repair easier means that the plumber is more likely to recommend a boiler with less hastle as the work is easier and quicker to complete. Unless a customer has a clear preference or has already bought a replacement (or it costs to much) they are likely to go with the plumber recommendation. Baxi clearly have that philosophy here whilst worcester have missed that idea.
Paused as you asked...Used to be a Baxi installer until certain issues, switched to Vaillant and never looked back. Never been a fan of Worcester at all. Edit: Reasons are because of consistency. Baxi took control of the market during the 105 days and got too cocky and didn't give a shit about the installers (they've since made a turn around again) Worcester I just don't like to work on, i like my knuckles in one piece! Vaillant always been a top quality product and an installers dream to fit ;)
@@AllenHart999 See edit All. I had a 130HE in my own house. The main heat exchanger split after a few years. I rang Ron Johnson the rep for the south and wanted a heat exchanger on the house! bearing in mind it would of been a pig to change anyway. I used to fit over 100 105's a year! They said no... I said fuck off! lol
Also manufacturing tolerances went down the pan! I've opened my hands up a few times on early duotecs when mounting them, with the razor sharp edges. We wont mention the union packs where they wouldn't fit int a socket! You had to file and piss with them for ages.
I have had no problems with Wilo pumps - millions of boilers have them as standard fit. Not sure about today, however they had a plastic type of carbon bearing which did not like dirt, while Grundfos had ceramic. A Wilo needs to have a filter on the system, which is sort of standard nowadays.
Baxi preferred cos Worcester has the potential headache of the condense pipe, controls issues and piping up is more complicated i.e separate stand off kit needed. Also Baxi looks easier to work on.
Good video Allen, The baxi wins it for me. I have fitted both but would have a baxi in my house. Very quiet too. All from the front servicing and great access to components. No need to replace the burner gasket when burner door removed as it is a silicone Rubber seal, compared to the Worcester which should be replaced every time. Also cleaning the Worcester heat ex is really awkward especially when it in a cupboard or near a ceiling. I mean have you seen the special brush they do? Its enormous. Controls on baxi are simple for the user and commissioning where as the Worcester is over complicated control panel. Please mention that the baxi also has a flue drip tray under neath the flue connection within the boiler, which is great if you get driving rain or leaking gutters for example and the water enters the air duct, which takes water directly into the condense trap and safely away. I have had several issues with other makes without this drip tray system and causing damage to electrical components. Keep up the good work Cheers
Baxi seems better made and maintenance friendly, my Dad had a Baxi 401 for 36 years installed by Baxi way back, never missed a beat - he upgraded to an Intergas model recently which is pretty impressive. The RGI who fitted it said it was a trial version.
Baxi 600 looks like a return to form, loved the Duo-Tec and Platinum. Only issue I find is the diverter cartridge leaking (easy repair for me, 9/10 it’s due to a sludged system not the fault of the manufacturer) WB 2000 - what have they been smoking? 🙈 terrible trap, trying to reinvent the wheel with the ‘kebab’ heat exchanger, now a 15 year old design but removing backwards compatibility for the junior models electrodes. Then to add insult to injury no supported controls other than their own? I’ll be telling customers to steer clear! Who doesn’t want a Nest or Hive in their homes nowadays!? Great honest opinions Allen 👍
Both good size wise, worcestor looks better, baxi is more practical so far with it being able to run pipes up the back, no filling loop on the worsector seems bad but I'm a complete layman when it come to this
Can’t believe Worcester haven’t learnt from previous boilers. Make things accessible, not all of us have miniature hands and second sight to get to things. Baxi hands down for me.
Before watching. We have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30 CDI . It was fitted 12 years ago in 2010. We get it serviced every year and we have never had a single problem with it. So my vote would go to the WB.
Mate any idea what the expansion vessel on a worcestor 28cdi rsf should be charged to, the manual says 0.5 bar, if I do that the would I have to pressurised the boiler up to 1 bar in total (0.5 EV + 0.5 BOILER)?
0.75 bar or 1bar. Usually anything equal or similar to the system pressure. As when the system water expands it will expand into the vessel. Too little pressure in the vessel it won't work. Too much pressure in the vessel you might pop the prv.
We are a large WB installer Diamond Installer, we installed 1x 2000, never again. The CDI range which have just been discontinued were pretty bullet proof in terms of reliability
I’ve worked on both Baxi’s and Worcester’s. Older Worcester’s are awful to work on, in comparison, the one you have there seems a breeze. I have a duo tec hanging on my kitchen wall and like it a lot. So, Baxi before and Baxi after.
I have also fitted the main for a cheaper option the only difference is that you need to have a stand of for the main for the pipes to go behind as they have spot welded 2 brackets to stop you from going down the back
Normally I would go with Worcester but having seen your bid they look like a load of plastic worse than the ferroli baxi looks so much better we'll done great video
Currently looking to swap my current set up to a combi boiler to lose the loft tanks etc for converting to a room, was looking at the Baxi 600 series ones compared to the worcester bosch and you have just helped me make my mind up with your video. Many thanks
To me the Worcester is more stylish and they’ve obviously spent a lot of money on the exterior design. The Baxi at the start of this video is more compact and has been designed for the purpose of concealment with the void at the back being able to accommodate pipework.
I have to admit at the ripe old age of 48 iv'e have been fitting nothing but Worcesters for ages. Because i like there back up service and i'm on auto pilot when fitting them. But if this boiler is replacing there other combi's then this is the point where i have to change brands. Allen thanks for making this video it hi-lights the massive amount of problems with this new model.
Baxi all the way.nice and easy to install, user freindly. easy to wire up.Great for the pipework behind and up ,can make all the pipwork up on the ground before lifting into position, only problems ive had is diverter cartridge , which is a moving part, and about £15 nowdays. very easy to install again. same thermister and ntc as duetec ,time will tell on these models towards end of warrantys.must not to forget to change and drain inhibiters, keep the water quality good, then will serve you well for many years, most problems is down to derty water ,iron oxide, mana tight, rust, like car antfreeze, needs aflush and inhiberters every 5 or 6 years really.
The comments say that Baxi get it. I would go along with that. That does not mean that Baxis are the best boilers on the market. The electrics inside look like they need to be more professionally designed and installed. I prefer an Intergas to a Baxi - generally. Only 4 moving parts and built like a tank. The horizontal Giannoni heat exchanger used in the Baxi, and others like Vaillant, needs a _very_ clean system with a quality filter as a pre requisite. I have seen the heat X tubes clogged up with sediment solidified at the bottom. That is where the vertical W-B spiral tube heat X scores higher - any solids will drop out of the heat X. Yes, W-B after service, and tech support, is good. Vaillant the best? Listen to the racket from them and look at the flimsy cases on some of them. I find installers home into a boiler because of familiarity, not because of its design or quality. They know the layout, and most importantly the error codes. W-B are designed in Germany aimed at the German market where boilers are generally in utility rooms or basements with space at the side of the boiler. The Baxi design is good as all can be accessed from the front, which is good in kitchen cupboard locations in small rabbit hutch British homes.
Great video Alan. Thank you. My thoughts are Worcester will never learn. The standard efficiency stuff like the old Cdi was appalling to work on. They had a golden opportunity to put it right with the greenstar range, but it was poorly designed and a pig to work on. Then the compact Erp stuff made it even more difficult to swop out components. I’m not gonna bore people with a great big list of all the stupid bits of design on the greenstars as any decent service and repair engineer will know them all. And now this joke of a product. Condensate pumps. Worcester controls. Divertor valve behind other components. Pipe work tails that aren’t clip distance. Do me a favour. I’m an ideal logic man myself for a mid range combi I don’t think they can be beaten for ease of install or repair, or warranty. But if I had to recommend one of these I’d go so far as to say if a customer wanted one of these Worcester’s I’d tell them to find another engineer cos I ain’t working on that for the next 15 years. For Christ sake how many jammed in baffles do you see on Ri/Si and juniors and they use the same design for their new range. Like I say Worcester will never learn. Maybe they might start listening to us when they get hit in the pocket. Until then feel sorry for any Worcester engineers you meet. Only decent thing about Worcester is their tech support line.
As an retired gas engineer 2018, fitted and repaired literally 100s of Worcesters and quite a few Baxi’s have to say the Baxi are far easier to work on and not so many issues with the Baxi then the Worcester surprised they haven’t REALLY updated the plastic bits
I agree the Baxi is better designed though the rounded corners are better on the WB. The stainless steel heat exchanger is the better one. Too much plastic in the WB the wiring in the Baxi could be tied up better
Thanks Allan great detailed video. Baxi anyday for me too very easy to replace parts and fault finding. Worscest looks really nice and like you said who is going to come around to look at your boiler 😀.
I’ve switched over to the viessmann boilers range especially the 100 and 050’s but for a cupboard fit I still use the ideal independent and logical range the viessmann is way too big to fit into any cupboard at 350 mm deep!
I only installed about five Viessman boilers. Four of them have needed new PCBs after 7 years......pricey. By comparison I've had very few problems with Logics and not a single PCB failure in ten years. Anyway you should be comparing these to the Ideal Vogue. One of my tests of a boiler choice is whether they pick up the phone when yoh need them. Worcester do, Ideal do. I fell out with Baxi when they printed a wrong PCB part number in a Main manual.....then refused to swap it for the right one without charging me for both. The trap should be cleaned every service so easy removal us a must.
I like the look of the Worcester but if I were an engineer I'd want to supply and service the Baxi all day long. Might start looking at them for our refits?
I note Bosch has a larger output range to Baxi, but would not want to be tied to one make of boiler, so unless OpenTherm enabled then I would cross off the list, boiler will not last for ever, and next time I change don't want to also have to change control system.
Baxi is the winner (although I'm a valliant man), I can't believe that any up to date boiler manufacturer are still making boilers where you need to remove non related components to get to parts inside the boiler, total Madness's.... Other boiler manufacturers have proven you don't have too
Hi Allen think the Baxi wins hands down the Worcester is very similar to the old units but the service time on a Worcester would be longer the Baxi is a better product.
Worcesters new replacement for the Si. Still pooh boilers with the same plastic components. What are they offering, a 5 year warranty 6 with their own filter. The plastic components probably won't last that long. Easy to service and really quiet operation. Baxi Main wins for me with installer credited works scheme. When you've familiarized yourself with a certain manufacture and their compatible controls, it's an easy win. Baxi's across range seem to be installers choice. Brass internals and a ss hex. Tbh from the duo-tec platinum mains and mexaflow which are all great boilers. Baxi's haven't changed much so you know what to expect. Their new line up are all pretty similar tech wise. Tbf you commission/service most new boilers correctly. They'll should last atleast the duration of the warranty, waffle over 😜 O forgot to mention no special tools required to service the baxi. To strip down and service the 'kebab' heat cell you need the baxi service kit 🤣
Hi Alan, Iv'e enjoyed watching your vids over the last few months. Our old Baxi solo 2 60 RS is hanging in there by a wing and a prayer hopefully for the next couple of months fingers X. Anyway we want to change it for a combi boiler with good HW flow to a loft room and heat output, e.g. Baxi, viessmann vitodens or other? and as your the most honest opinioned plumber iv'e watched on here, what is your choice for a 4 bed semi with a similar retro fit under floor heating system to a suspended floor as you fitted as well. any advise is grateful..... keep up the the great vids
Great video as always Allen. What a faff that kebab heat ex is compared to the Giannoni. Fitted a 2000 a couple of months ago and can’t see me fitting another. Fitting a 836 next month I’ll let you know how I go on but it looks a great boiler other than the PRV connection.
Great video how about a comparison between the Baxi 600 and the viessman 29kw 0-50 both are excellent in my opinion light-years ahead of Worcester 2000 and even the expensive Worcester 30i
I do think baxi looks a better boiler although the wiring in a baxi is a mess. Same with the GA range which put me off baxi for along time. The back up from Worcester is the best in the industry. And I personally prefer to work on Worcester’s
Brilliant video again Allen, Baxi 600 all the way for me but we haven’t fitted the new Worcester but it looks very much like the Junior with the cover off, over complicated, to much prone to split plastic and tricky to service, can never understand all the hype around Worcester boilers to be honest and taking parts out to access other parts is never a good idea in my opinion, have had a couple of small issues with the Baxi 600 range but nothing major
Nice review Allen as i only service and repair got to go for the Baxi the worcester is going to be no better than previous models with that crappy heat ex hate doing full strip service on them.plastic components for the price is bad yep GO BAXI.
Just had one installed, finished today! Looks great. Review report will have to wait for a while, but I’m happy so far. Your tutorial was good, too. Mine has a ‘Magna clean’ (???). Do they all have them?
There is always something off with worcester. Be it the div valve in a CDI, the PRV at the back and that's just a small examples. The design team are shocking. P.s great review would like to see more. 👍🏿
All well, but how do they perform in heating your water and your radiators. My past experiences with a baxi boiler is that there not as fast to reacting to hot water, as a Worcester
I have to change a old baxi back boiler , for sure i will go for the baxi 630i for me the best thing is easy to work on and stain stell heat exchanger Nice video thank you
Hi Guys I need advice on the best boiler to get, Baxi 830, -Viessmann vitodens 100-W, or the -Worcester Bosch green star 8000? Or any others anyone would recommend? Cheers
Great video. I'm buying a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom flat and the boiler needs changing as it's about 15 years old. Not sure where to start really. How do you know which boiler is best for your needs? Budget approx £1500 is that enough? Thanks
Hello Allen Worcester design for Germany market Been on market over 2 years You can fit any other smart thermostat Prv 🙈 Baxi better design for all age Older people loves it Solid brass parts
Love the baxi, SStl heat exchanger, fixed filling loop, easy to service, easy to wire 230v switching, also have low voltage opentherm connections, ... And, for cheaper option buy the main eco compact 30kw for exactly the same boiler, just less warrenty (5yrs).
To me Worcester have successfully managed to polish a turd. I’m not a fan of their over complicated heat cell, which have proven to be problematic for them over the years. They haven’t learned their lessons with their plastic components either. From an engineers perspective the Baxi wins hands down. On every level this is an easier boiler to repair service and maintain. The Worcester seemed to have put all their eggs in one basket and that’s the look and design of their boiler as well as their name. Some people think that they’re the best and nothing else will suffice to their uneducated minds. Baxi I think have nailed this boiler and for the engineer, how many of these could you service in a day? Loads more than the Worcester. Baxi’s are easier to install, look neater, not so many extras to buy or to explain to the customer why you need this and that at additional cost. Baxi = More compact, easier to work on, better engineered in terms of no need to stands offs of filling loops. Easier to maintain in terms of a stupidly simple burner removal for a quick and thorough hex clean. The extra warranty is a bonus but probably reflects how reliable Baxi think it is and even if it breaks down it’s a dawdle to fix.
My thoughts prior to watching is that Worcester is overpriced and more expensive to service with same reliability as Baxi. It's like taking a Mercedes to a garage and them telling you it will be expensive job even though parts and Labour cost are the same as other vehicles. Thanks for uploading this
Well made and very informative comparison video Allen. It's a no-brainer as far as simplicity to work on is concerned. To actually have to use a mirror to inspect a main heat exchanger or ANY component is not a very good Idea from to off. As you state in the video most combi's are installed in a cupboard or tucked away in a corner somewhere, where natural (The best) or even artificial light is far from ideal. I bet you first go to on a lot of jobs be your head torch to see what is what. And it be cast aluminium exchanger , by the looks of it (the Worcester) which needs more thorough inspection for pitting/Cavitation all to be done via a torch and mirror. MMM, okay if you want to do a text book inspection, you would have to use a mirror to check for cavitation on the Baxi exchanger, but , lets be honest from what is so easily visible on the Baxi, you would not need to. Where's the room to use a mirror and torch! and get gown to see the mid and bottom section of the (Worcester) exchanger!!. Well, THERE ISN'T ANY!!!!. With the Baxi you get a far superior visual layout, Per Se (never alone it made of a more superior material), A fitter would be able to give it a far superior inspection to this unit. So to be kind to YOURSELF(Easier Access= Less hassle=Less money) and your FITTER ,the BAXI IS WAY IN FRONT. Allen, I have watched many of your vids and think they are BRILL!!!.One point though Allen, could you also give a general price comparison for what the units cost to purchase and maybe???, how much the general and realistic service/Repair items costs and their availability( diverters, Expan Vessel ,Fan units, Pressure switches, etc). This will be of great help and be Paramount (I think)in any purchase decision.(You know, it's no good buying a Rolls, if you can't afford its running costs after)And its BRITISH to (well was??), if you want to be patiotic!!!!!. :-)
I can have striped out fully and replaced a Main HEX on a 630 last years total time 48mins ..by the way it was my install and the Main HEX had a pin hole leak.
Hi Alan Looks Good On the Woster as over Enginnered not solved the condencer prob/ this should have a sencer probe to indecate when they Block Up and lock out and This comes up with a IE Gas Valve Or a Fan code Fault? It Allways a Blocked Condencer as All the Holes are two small for the waste water conditions of the local water Hard or Soft water? yes there is a way forward? Been reported to there Tecs / as the New Condencer / will have a look at it ? Would like some feed Back and My New Commpany this Year are Downing a New Service of No fix on Fee and On Call Out?.Thanks for your time Alan.
"Not bothered what a boiler looks like", How easy is it to work on. PRICELESS Alan.
You have echoed many thoughts of boiler engineers. 😊😊😊
Before.. Liked the look of the Worcester...glad I watched the video...
After... Baxi all day long for me..
In my opinion as a technician (I only repair boilers):
From the boilers found in your country is another one that I like the design more: INTERGAS - the model with 2 copper coils one above the other and cast in aluminum block :)
The Baxi 600-800 boiler is my favorite because it is much easier to repair with far fewer mechanical components with problems - In my country there is a brand of kober boilers from which the Motan Mkdens model is almost identical to the Baxi boiler where the major difference is electronic board - the electronic board from the model in my country I think is more reliable built - the ones from Kober frequently ask the technicians in the country what dissatisfaction they have and what changes they want :)

cheap, simple, reliable designs, generic and cheap parts (found in Bosch Group boilers but no longer use these parts because they do not break), rainwater collection and drainage system
if it enters the suction pipe of the air (from "mistake"), the Gas valve on 18-24V (much more reliable), the Grundfos pump, the design of the housing and the connections more practical ...
con:
- Design of the electronic plate housing made on the knee
- The wiring chosen is not too inspired (Bosch has not used end-to-end connectors for over 30 years (I don't think they have ever used it))
At the Worcester boiler:
Pro:
-designed in great detail to the components (Con: it seems designed when it is broken by something (as in the older series boilers from Junker / Bosch series 3-5000 non-condensation do not know any boiler that electronic plate) has withstood more than 2.5-3 years)
- quality of plastics
- the secondary heat exchanger gaskets on the heating side
con:
-Wilo pump
- combustion chamber - although it has a unique and original design it is a pain to make repairs on it or to clean the combustion chamber of deposits.
- stacked design
- honeywell gas valve - I have never seen a honeywell boiler part made to be reliable, Personally only when I see the name Honeywell on a boiler part I think how to hold it :)) - today I was at a boiler more old (viessman vitogas 100 -15 years old) with honeywell gas valve in which one of the internal rubber membranes was broken and which escapes a lot of gas (through a ventilation hole that communicates with that membrane) in the room where the boiler was installed - and it is the second case of gas leakage in less than a month at exactly the same type of boiler with the same gas valve model produced by honeywell (they are the only types of gas valves that I have found gas leaks in my life. no matter how old they were and I saw thousands !!!)
- Secondary heat exchanger gaskets on the hot water side.
- Hydroblock with many oring joints that can lead to leaks (nobody has distilled water in the heating circuit)
Conclusion:
All boilers will work well if a magnetic filter is installed on the heating circuit.
1 man band baxi approved fitted 23 600s and 800sin last 12 months love them customers love them
Have you installed any 2000?
@@AllenHart999 no ive looked inside and theres to many variables
Thanks for the video, bit of an eye opener:
#1 (Looks) - Worcester (looks more sleek and modern)
#2 (Internals) - Baxi (seems to have better quality components and a simpler layout )
#3 (Strip down) - Baxi (easier access and removal)
I confess I have a WC boiler for several years with which I have had no issues. I would have chosen differently had I have seen this beforehand.
Thanks very much for your comment, please consider subscribing to support the channel 🙂
Baxi is a clear winner - been thought out and obviously had a service engineer's input Bosch looks a right shambles to installing to service ! and all the extra parts required does not even make it good value !Great video Allen keep up the good work mate Thanks
Thank you.
I already have an old non-condensing boiler which I would like to replace next year. I agree with you the Baxi is my favourite too so far.
Hi Alan I used to have a Baxi 7 years ago he lasted only 5 years the heat exchange when nothing but problems I know things have changed now I wouldn't trust it anymore I know you know what you doing you are the Professional and you have one at home I seen your video all the best
What boiler model was it please? Thanks.
That's more then likely down to incorrect commissioning. The baxi's I've fit in the past have had very few problems. Your system probably wasn't cleansed and inhibited properly. Your installer may have left cleanser in the system. Or non of the above. 😂
Winner for me is the Baxi all day long. Thanks for helping me confirm my choice.
I’ve had a BAXI 600 in for about 3 months with their usence smart thermostat. It’s been really good. 7 year guarantee
👍👍👍👍
Allen the reason the front panel won't stay up is because of the divertor head facing forward if you just twist it to the side the front will stay up perfectly👍 great review I always send my die-hard Worcester customers to this video and they always see the light and now with the Baxi 800 its a easy sell. Thanks for all these videos Allen I'm an experienced gas engineer myself but I still learn a lot of new ideas from your videos.
On looks...Baxi,
On servicing....Baxi
On quality of parts....Baxi
On making another over engineered awkward to fit/repair product . . . Worcester Bosch
I wonder what 'engineers' were consulted when designing this latest Worcester offering
Thank you.
Agreed.
The Worcester was designed & initially made in Turkey
Thanks for another video I'm always learning from them. I recently passed my Gas course and wanted further insight while training. These videos are a great help.
Baxi or Bosch? Thanks.
Thank You Mark. 👍
Al on my second year with the BAXI 630 no problems so far very pleased 😉
Thanks.
👍😂👍
Between the 2 Baxi for me. However still prefer the logic/Vogue over both 👍
Logic is not in the same league as the Vogue in my opinion. I still love the Vogue. 👍
My Baxi Duo Tec has been running for 8 years now and I have not had a single problem with it.
My thoughts before watching the full vidoe are! I love baxi 600 range probably my favourite boiler to install, and also reasonable priced, easy to maintain and a great warranty. Worcester over priced and inferior to the baxi but unfortunately the general public know more about them because of there successful advertising.
👍👍👍👍
After watching this I won't be rushing to install a Worcester 2000, they never seem to make there boilers engineer friendly!
I will be sticking to my beloved Baxi 600 and 800 range.
From an installers prospective and servicing hands down Baxi 600. I love Bosch power tools but I can’t work out where their innovation went into that boiler..
Thank You.
forse hai ragione, ma facciamo un pò di chiarezza, si critica quest modelloche è il prodotto base della Bosch, se guardi la bosch 9000 magari ti fai una idea migliore
Just had a Baxi 800 fitted as its the one recommend by my plumber, he said its the one he would fit in his own home, good enough for me :)
600 and 800 are the same boiler, 800 comes with 10 year warranty. Fittting a 800 this week.
Im counting down the days untill i get to put an 800 in my house. You have been sold a top of the range peice of kit
@@pointypipedream Yes very happy with it, really quiet when running, perfect.
Great work mate,,
Thank you for the feedback. 👍
Keep up the great work
Thanks.
my observation as not a plumber.
What issues did you have with Baxi? Thanks.
Did you see the pump? It looks like you can change the setting. I am guessing they will change that.
Baxi preferred cos Worcester has the potential headache of the condense pipe, controls issues and piping up is more complicated i.e separate stand off kit needed. Also Baxi looks easier to work on.
👍👍👍
Keep up the good work
Cheers
You make some very good points. It’s hard to add everything into a video. Thank you.
@@AllenHart999 No worries, just for other peeps to read. I know you cannot cover everything otherwise it would be an loooong video. lol.
A great reveal specially the way you showed the two different heat exchangers. Very helpful. Thanks
Thank You
Baxi seems better made and maintenance friendly, my Dad had a Baxi 401 for 36 years installed by Baxi way back, never missed a beat - he upgraded to an Intergas model recently which is pretty impressive. The RGI who fitted it said it was a trial version.
36 years ago, even sand was so solid. Nowadays even steel is fake
Excellent video. Very well laid out and some very interesting unbiased comments. 👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Baxi 600 looks like a return to form, loved the Duo-Tec and Platinum. Only issue I find is the diverter cartridge leaking (easy repair for me, 9/10 it’s due to a sludged system not the fault of the manufacturer)
WB 2000 - what have they been smoking? 🙈 terrible trap, trying to reinvent the wheel with the ‘kebab’ heat exchanger, now a 15 year old design but removing backwards compatibility for the junior models electrodes. Then to add insult to injury no supported controls other than their own? I’ll be telling customers to steer clear! Who doesn’t want a Nest or Hive in their homes nowadays!?
Great honest opinions Allen 👍
Ha ha, Thank you for the feedback.
Both good size wise, worcestor looks better, baxi is more practical so far with it being able to run pipes up the back, no filling loop on the worsector seems bad but I'm a complete layman when it come to this
Which boiler would you choose? Thanks.
Can’t believe Worcester haven’t learnt from previous boilers. Make things accessible, not all of us have miniature hands and second sight to get to things. Baxi hands down for me.
👍👍👍
Like the look of the Worcester never liked the look of baxi but it comes down to reliability.
👍👍👍👍
Before watching. We have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30 CDI . It was fitted 12 years ago in 2010. We get it serviced every year and we have never had a single problem with it. So my vote would go to the WB.
I'm having a Baxi 636 fitted on the recommendation of my plumber! Good video.
Mate any idea what the expansion vessel on a worcestor 28cdi rsf should be charged to, the manual says 0.5 bar, if I do that the would I have to pressurised the boiler up to 1 bar in total (0.5 EV + 0.5 BOILER)?
Which boiler would you choose? Thanks.
0.75 bar or 1bar. Usually anything equal or similar to the system pressure. As when the system water expands it will expand into the vessel. Too little pressure in the vessel it won't work. Too much pressure in the vessel you might pop the prv.
Alan.
From practicality and accessability perspective the Baxi wins the day. Good video and thanks.
Thanks.
Can’t fault the 600
Had no problem so far
Have you installed the 600? Thanks.
Yes I have installed a lot of 600 and the 800 range easy to work on and easy to fit I recommend the baxi to every customer
I have also fitted the main for a cheaper option the only difference is that you need to have a stand of for the main for the pipes to go behind as they have spot welded 2 brackets to stop you from going down the back
Baxi hands down! They really thought this one through
WHY? what would you say is better about the Baxi? Thank you.
Well we fit 3-4 a week, nice layout. always easier to get up in the morning when you know youre fitting a 600 :D
Which one would you say is best? Thanks.
Thank you for the comments. 👍👍
Thank you.
Baxi for me, stainless steel heat exchanger brass components and easier to work on
What,s your opinion on the new Worcester Bosch 2000? Thanks.
Thank you.
Thanks Allan great detailed video.
Baxi anyday for me too very easy to replace parts and fault finding. Worscest looks really nice and like you said who is going to come around to look at your boiler 😀.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
I’ve switched over to the viessmann boilers range especially the 100 and 050’s but for a cupboard fit I still use the ideal independent and logical range the viessmann is way too big to fit into any cupboard at 350 mm deep!
I like the 100. 👍
Tim Hancock I’m surprised you had for PCB failures on the viessmann boilers
I have a dozen or so going 10 years strong with no problems at all
I like the look of the Worcester but if I were an engineer I'd want to supply and service the Baxi all day long. Might start looking at them for our refits?
👍👍👍
I note Bosch has a larger output range to Baxi, but would not want to be tied to one make of boiler, so unless OpenTherm enabled then I would cross off the list, boiler will not last for ever, and next time I change don't want to also have to change control system.
Baxi is the winner (although I'm a valliant man), I can't believe that any up to date boiler manufacturer are still making boilers where you need to remove non related components to get to parts inside the boiler, total Madness's.... Other boiler manufacturers have proven you don't have too
Thank you.
Hi Allen think the Baxi wins hands down the Worcester is very similar to the old units but the service time on a Worcester would be longer the Baxi is a better product.
👍👍👍
They'll should last atleast the duration of the warranty, waffle over 😜
O forgot to mention no special tools required to service the baxi. To strip down and service the 'kebab' heat cell you need the baxi service kit 🤣
Thanks for the comments. 👍
Hi Allen, my boiler is a Baxi duo-tec 24, and I would definitely have Baxi again, thanks for the video,Best wishes Stuart w.yorks.
Great boilers.
This is my second video, of your's Allen, & you describe & talk great for me to understand, ty
Hi Alan,
Iv'e enjoyed watching your vids over the last few months.
👍👍
Great video how about a comparison between the Baxi 600 and the viessman 29kw 0-50 both are excellent in my opinion light-years ahead of Worcester 2000 and even the expensive Worcester 30i
hi i agree with other comments loads of parts for the Worcester 2000 same as biasi shockin great vid
Thank you.
I do think baxi looks a better boiler although the wiring in a baxi is a mess. Same with the GA range which put me off baxi for along time.
The back up from Worcester is the best in the industry. And I personally prefer to work on Worcester’s
Thanks.
Thank you.
Before: I’d go for the baxi
After watching: I’d still go for the Baxi
Thank you
@@AllenHart999 Worcester... a white elephant as usual are baxi about £150 cheaper than the bosch one too? Great video agian btw allen
Hi try bleeding my rods but my pressure on my boilers still not going down...
👍👍
You may have a defective pressure gauge.
Nice review Allen as i only service and repair got to go for the Baxi the worcester is going to be no better than previous models with that crappy heat ex hate doing full strip service on them.plastic components for the price is bad yep GO BAXI.
Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback.
Great videos Allen looking at this theres no comparison it's got to be baxi
Good comparison Allen, enjoying your content
Nice high quality content as always. Thanks for sharing with unenlightened.
did you watch this one? interested to hear your thoughts? Thanks. ua-cam.com/video/zAJPovHxtXs/v-deo.html
All well, but how do they perform in heating your water and your radiators. My past experiences with a baxi boiler is that there not as fast to reacting to hot water, as a Worcester
I will try and test that at some point. Thanks.
His is a brilliant video. Thank you. Its changed my mind completely on WB & Baxi boilers.
I have to change a old baxi back boiler , for sure i will go for the baxi 630i for me the best thing is easy to work on and stain stell heat exchanger
Nice video thank you
Hi Guys I need advice on the best boiler to get,
Baxi 830,
-Viessmann vitodens 100-W, or the
-Worcester Bosch green star 8000?
Or any others anyone would recommend?
Cheers
Viessmann vitodens 100-W will be Allens choice..... and mine :-)
Allen the Baxi will be first choice for me
Why? Thanks
Brass fittings which are not likely to leak , easy to service & accessible to replace parts.
Also to add the Baxi will last longer.
Great video. I'm buying a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom flat and the boiler needs changing as it's about 15 years old. Not sure where to start really. How do you know which boiler is best for your needs? Budget approx £1500 is that enough? Thanks
Stay safe. Watch this one just in case. Thanks ua-cam.com/video/Hh5lFC7VI4U/v-deo.html
Like (some) WB boilers but with these 2 its the Baxi for me :)
Hello Allen

Been on market over 2 years
You can fit any other smart thermostat
Prv 🙈
Baxi better design for all age
Older people loves it
Solid brass parts
It says WB controls only on it?
Probably has a different board for Uk market
Love the baxi, SStl heat exchanger, fixed filling loop, easy to service, easy to wire 230v switching, also have low voltage opentherm connections, ... And, for cheaper option buy the main eco compact 30kw for exactly the same boiler, just less warrenty (5yrs).
👍👍
Thank you.
Well done main point copper and brass vs plastic composite , most importantly BAXI is BRITISH 🇬🇧 well done for promoting U.K. businesses 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great Review Allen. Think Worcester have lost the plot on this one.
Thank you.
Baxi for me easy to work on and reliable . Also I think there much lighter than the bosh .
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
Hi again Allen Happy New year mate😊the Baxi wins for me, keep up the good work 👍
Forgot to say I think the Viessmann is superior to both 👍
@@gerrylea121 Which Viessmann though?
Hi Allen the Viessmann 100 system 👍
I like the square shape of the Baxi 600.
Thanks for watching.
My thoughts prior to watching is that Worcester is overpriced and more expensive to service with same reliability as Baxi. It's like taking a Mercedes to a garage and them telling you it will be expensive job even though parts and Labour cost are the same as other vehicles. Thanks for uploading this
👍👍
the condense for the worcester is internal discharge only
Yes unless you use other products such as a condensate pump. 👍
👍👍👍👍
