Young people have no idea of the indignities MJ suffered, and how he had to fight to have Billie Jean played on MTV. He wrote about it in "Moonwalk." He literally put MTV on the map, and paved the way for other Black artists. MJ said after the success of Billie Jean, MTV was coming to him for every short film he had. He was truly a pioneer. MJ, I will love you forever.
I was a child back then when i first saw this music video. I still remember the feeling. It was magic dust above my head. I thought I could fly ! It was love at first sight. And I am carrying that feeling inside my heart up to this day. Thank you Michael. Thank you for the magic dust.
this was one of the first videos I watched as a little girl, and along with beat it and thriller, hes been a part of my life ever since, I feel blessed to have been able to see all of Michaels solo career as it actually happened and cant believe where the time has gone!.....miss him so much.
"The brief was he [Michael] really was looking for something magical..." ☺ When wasn't he??? Michael was always looking for something magical. He is magical!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I remember when I first saw this video. I was little and it was my first time seeing Michael Jackson, I thought he was the most beautiful man in the world.....he was so enchanting.
Billie Jean was my very first introduction to Michael when I was only 4. It was love at first sight to me and the beginning of a lifetime love affair. Michael will always be the love of my life.
Michael was soooo awesome then. He was polite, well dressed and didn't go around hitting on every woman he saw. I loved him so much, he brought us heaven.
he looked so handsome back then... i love his curls, so cuuuuute!! :)) MTV has got no taste. I like him dark. I REALLY do... *melts at the sight of thriller-era-MJ*
2:40 Wayne Isham has directed many music videos, including “You Are Not Alone,” “Whatzupwitu” (Eddie Murphy & MJ), and “Hollywood Tonight.” He is only three months younger than Michael.
i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee mj
He might of been black (like me) but he was better than the mtv people.... and hes soo adorable..... wait at the end did he say tiger sheet or tiger shit??
@trinisita12 The song Billie Jean will always be remembered for the live performance Motown 25, the first time people saw the glove and moonwalk etc. But I still like the vid though
OMG MY jaw literally dropped open when the guy said "...because he was black..." I canNOT believe that!!!!!!!! WTF????? How sad and ignorant....who cares what colour bad ass music is? Really?
I remember when this video came out back in '83. MJ always had a way of sharing his life in his work, so it took me a while to figure it out. The song is supposedly about groupies, but he can't seem to shake the paparazzi in this video. Michael's ghostly character doesn't escape this guy until the end, as his footsteps light up the sidewalk.
@Aariyan096 Thank you. I say that cuz I love him dearly

Although this video looks a little dated, I thought it looked good for its time. This video also helped to break the MTV color barrier..................MTV was strictly "white" before this.
I don't really understand what the guy is saying about the slabs lighting up- he seems to say they only could afford a few of them to light up, but then Michael said let's just do it, and then he watched him and he was phenomenal...but wait, how did they get round the problem of the slabs?? Confused :s
Michael went to history with Billie Jean and MTV went to history because of Racism. 30 years were gone, the world is still watching and loving BJ. MTV should
I was born in 1982 but I was pretty much apart of Mtvs second generation and aside from Michael Jackson Mtv played no next to no Black artists this is right on untill the late 80s to early 90s...which is why BET was created. as a black kid the only way I remember seeing black artists in the 80s was Soul Train....because Cable was expensive.
Fuck with MTV! They slander him each time they can! With his name in horrible polls, with South Park... They think that cause they reinstated the award with his name, we forgot and forget what they did and do now!

What's sad about MTV is now they don't even show music videos. Glad he broke down barriers.
"Really? When? I don't remember." GREATEST. IMPRESSION. EVER.
Michael was soooo awesome then. He was polite, well dressed and didn't go around hitting on every woman he saw. I loved him so much, he brought us heaven.
Michael Jackson was so talented, it wouldn't have mattered if his skin was GREEN!!!!
Face palm for all MJ haters..he's the king of pop and he was very proud that he was a black male :)
It's funny because MTV wouldn't have been anything without Michael. He made MTV!

I'd do anything for him to not be misunderstood.
Really?

Tomorrow Marie .....That's truly what made this video so great, the fact that it has a level of mystery to it.
@Aariyan096 Thank you. I say that cuz I love him dearly

@TBAKC Oh, I understand :)
I still wanna know who does the Paparazzo in the video, 12 years, looking for that guy online. Someone have information on the Paparazzo let me know.

Oh ok, I see. Yeah it's a little fuzzy because there seems to be a step missing in his story, haha. But I think you're right.
@MrJchrist777 i know right. the video is basically explaining the music video. :/.
this is Video Killed the Radio Stars?
MTV WILL BE NOTHING WITH OUT MICHAEL JACKSON!!
@TheMeanKittylover2 Rap and MTV are the same now. Who would have thought?

Michael went to history with Billie Jean and MTV went to history because of Racism. 30 years were gone, the world is still watching and loving BJ. MTV should

mtv was a fool in the beginning not to play something due to someone else skin color
Did that guy say Justin Timberlake is like Michael Jackson? He's crazy. Justin is talented, but he is not way as talented as Michael.
first black man.. to be on mtv.. well aint this magic :)
Fuck with MTV! They slander him each time they can! With his name in horrible polls, with South Park... They think that cause they reinstated the award with his name, we forgot and forget what they did and do now!
@anjali407 I Know right yhu wouldn't be able to tell me nothin!!!!!!:)~~!!

There is no reason for the language here. I am confident that Michael didn't use it.
