jet force gemini mentioned, im here
PS2 hardest games would be good for a list because of how huge the library is.
Diddy Kongs boss battles gave me so much trouble. I rage quit way too much back then. But It’s still one of my favorite games ever. Very good music as well ! And the multiplayer is so much fun.
Shadows of the empire on Jedi difficulty is insane. The robot in the junkyard and the sewage monster are very difficult.
I didn’t have a problem with that game when i was younger. Me and a friend beat it in one weekend.
Be glad you didn't go through the Japanese version of Majora's Mask. I imported it and went to an owl statue when I wanted to stop playing, before making horrifying realization that you can't save mid-cycle at owl statues on the Japanese version, and the only way to save is to play the Song of Time to reset the cycle! So you have to make sure you have the time to complete a three-day cycle when you play.
dafuq?!😱😮😭
Lmfao @ the Completionist burn.
Jet Force Gemini is one of those games that’s both punishing and rewarding to play. Yes, the boss fights are tough as nails and rescuing every…single…Tribal is infuriating just to reach the end of the game, but it’s still so much fun to blow shit up with all the different weapons you collect. Also, the soundtrack is one of the best on the N64.
But if there’s a game that I think is much harder, it would be Bomberman 64. The game is incredibly cryptic with how precise you have to be with bomb placements, especially in the later levels. And to reach the last level, you have to collect all 100 gold cards which can be a massive pain in the ass because of the criteria required for collecting them; ranging from finding them in hidden parts of a stage, to clearing stages under a certain time limit, to hitting bosses a certain way. And the very last level, I swear you absolutely need a video tutorial guide just to figure out where to place bombs just to advance.
It’s surprising that Bomberman 64 didn’t at least get an honorable mention. But hey, maybe this will convince Totally Tubular Jonathan to try it out and see what he thinks.
Before I watch, just letting you know my personal hardest game on that console I have played is Perfect Dark. The last level wrecks me each time.
19:15 lair of the blind ones is a royal pain as there are very few save points. Shooting things with arrows is a joy though.
I remember 100% - ing DKR and Wizpig the final time is CRAZY! Took me many times to beat him.
DKC has the one wall being Wizpig 1. I'm pretty sure that he's quite literally impossible if you dont know that you have to let go of accelerate when you go through a zipper to optimize your speed (apart from some crazy strategy that a long term player with a lot of knowledge came up with). For Shadows of the Empire, I found that Easy is almost too easy, but normal and higher is extremely difficult. There are some simple 'tests' like the AT-ST is basically impossible unless you develop a strategy to overcome it that completely trivializes it. The speeder mission though is one of the most pain in the ass dumb missions ever and that stopped me from beating the game on normal difficulties or higher.
If you let off the gas in Diddy Kong racing while hitting a boost you go faster
In Jet Force Gemini I was able to find most of the collectibles but I got busted for charity fraud so I had to start over again.
Bro what? lol got a full story
“Not get everything imaginable” as DK64 is shown
Great video
Yess i love the n64
Sekiro is not an easy game. Less than 10% of players were able to even finish it.
That Completionist reference made me laugh aloud. I dodnt see that one coming.😂😂😂
Some of these I haven’t played much or at all.
Superman 64 I’ll never touch. I seen enough of that game, I’ll never play.
Conkers and Shadows of the Empire are GOAT games on the 64. I love them.
DK64 is high on my list of n64 games to play.
Turok 2, playing as a kid, I got lost a lot and had no idea what I was doing.
I can see majoras mask being frustrating to some players, but with a guide, it’s way too easy. Probably the biggest shocker to me on your list haha
Great video dude! 👍 You got yourself a new sub
Jet Force Gemini is if Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Starship Troopers had a baby.
Slime! Some great nostalgia here. N64 was amazing
I can attest to mario Golf being hard. I could never beat bowser. I remember going into a tie breaker, and bowser gets a hole-in-one. I just gave up after that 😂
I have no idea what to do in Zelda games. I don't know how kids actual figure out what to do like it's nothing. I was stuck from the start.
It would hold a lot more weight if this was thabeast721
Having flashbacks to Superman 64. Feels bad man.
Good list.
Turok 2 seeds of evil is a must keep for my series x, it was my childhood (also this was one of those games that needed a controller pak which i didn't have so i couldn't shut of my n64 or else i lost my progress)
I loved the coin challenge in Diddy Kong Racing. It's my favorite part of the game.
Hey tubular you should do a ranking video for movie tie in game because there remastered the thing game from 2002
I played Mario 64 and that pokemon game with the photos on 64. Mario 64 was pretty hard when I was 5 years old, then I played it on DS when I was older and it was still pretty tough, so yeah it's quite brutal.
Great list Sharkman! Oh man, I remember Diddy Kong Racing as a 15 year old thinking, “oh this baby game for babies will be easy…” and like you said the silver coins and the bosses goddamn that took me WEEKS to beat!! I had a new level of respect for Rare after that and yeah DK64 those mini games especially the beaver in a hole ones can suck a fat one. 😑💪
I traded worms armageddon for jet force gemini with a friend as a kid. Huge mistake
I appreciate DK64 more, the dificulty is normal like bosses and minigames. The hardest is to 101 complete the game, its my childhood game so be nice when you going to do top DK games Please.
forsaken was extremely hard
The only one I've played is Turok 2.
I dare anyone who disagrees to go out and play the N64 version.
You won't beat the second level without a guide.
It is so hard, it makes the first game look like a tutorial.
Agreed. I still haven't beat that game. I'm now 40 and first played it in the late 90s. The levels are just too big and long for me.
I though turok 1,2 and 3 was easy. I might have been a nerds as a kid though😂
I watched Thabeast721 play it without a guide and he was raging. wandered around for ages
Body Harvest was the game that led to GTA 3. DMA design would later rename to Rockstar North after making GTA 3.
The octopus is farting bubbles!
There is literallybno shame in diddy kong waking being hard. Those silver coins were a horrible idea. And wizpig might be the hardest boss in n64. Period.
8:22 this is tough yes. Can be really fun too. The cheat menu is very tricky to enable as well.
Hardest is Superman 64. And its not because its designed to be difficult. Its because it is a completely broken game, with broken physics and control, and as a result, i can't make past the 1st level. But all but one of the games (Jet Force Gemini) on the list ranked harder I have beat.
Rented that game back in the day as a youngin and I was not happy
@@ShawnGottii709Yeah, well, I straight up bought it at retail without knowing how bad it was. Ugh.
Once you figure out how to work with the poop it's not the worst.
Agreed, jet force Gemini was the one game I never finished
8:54 Shadows of the Empire is much better on PC due to controls
Mario Golf is maybe my favorite N64 game. usually the CPU makes impossible shots, but dramatically softens in the final holes. Feels cheap to “Save and Exit” to restart holes but can be a crutch. There is a code that opens everything sans Mario Star course for this who don’t want to unlock every character.
I won most of those but I played these games in high school and had the power... Nintendo Power. Diddy Kong Racing, Perfect Dark, Conker, Majora's Mask, DK64, and Jet Force Gemini were all won by me. Conker I didn't finish until emulation a decade later though, I got stuck in the bat area and it was late enough in the N64 cycle and I had a PC at that point to compete against Nintendo games. I remember Majora's Mask and DK64, I just finished out of duty and they were a pain in the ass. Once I had Roller Coaster Tycoon, Starcraft, and Diablo II, I didn't have as much patience for games like that. I never finished StarFox Assault, Rare's last game with Nintendo.
I believe that was Starfox Adventures for GameCube. It was the last Rare game for a Nintendo console. Starfox Assault was made by Namco and released on the GameCube as well. I remember renting it but never finished it.
27:00 - “hey bby wanna go somewhere nice for dinner? Like Wendy’s!?” 💀
I love majors mask and ocarina of time but without a UA-cam video sometimes I don’t know where to go
Conker's Bad Fur Day is very hard but damn Superman 64 is still the hardest IMO and I didn't even beat that one. Id rather play the E.T. Atari game before ever playing that again good lawddd😂😂
I remember Superman 64 after the ring section the instructions on what to do next only appear for a second then you get 6 seconds to complete the objective and if you fail you need to start over from the ring section it’s not really difficult it’s just the controls in this game are some of the worst I’ve ever seen plus having to figure out what you are supposed to do make it insanely difficult
Agree with most of the list. Jet force killed me as a kid. I'd put turok 2 at #2 behind jet force. The final boss in seeds of evil was impossible. Had to plug in the GameShark to finish the game.
Should've entered "Bewareoblivionisathand" in the password area.
5 Rareware games. Nice. I did play Conker, and OH MY GOD! was that a pain. It was so hard it stopped being fun.
Majora's Mask was challenging but I was able to beat it. Inverted song of time gives you plenty of time to beat a dungeon.
You mentioned body harvest 64, now that game right there is going to kick ur ass, I feel each timew you boot the game the difficulty is harder than the last.
first off, superman does NOT count. that game is a complete garbage incomplete mess. but you mention a lot of Rare games in this list and dude. you didn't mention the hardest one. Banjo Tooie is freakin INSANE hard right from the very beginning. then it gets kinda managable but periodically hits you with BALLS difficulty out of nowhere. banjo 2 is one of the hardest games on the platform, followed by probably jet force but jet forces difficulty stems mostly from the controls.
majoras mask isn't so much difficult as it is frustrating as hell. having to restart a dungeon cuz you run outta time just sucks.
my favorite n64 game is star fox 64. EASY AS HELL. you can beat the game in 90 minutes or so, but try to get medals on all stages on expert mode. did you even know there was an expert mode? i was the only one of my friends who had the no vehicle multiplayer unlock. Maybe you can touch my high score of 1600. starfox 64 is a Masterpiece! i also remember having a hell of a time completeing facility in 007 in the target time of 2 minutes or whatever crazy time it is...
I LIKE THIS GUY
I actually beat the Rare Replay version of Jet Force Gemini somewhat recently. I wonder if they changed anything else beyond the control scheme to make it easier. I have it on N64 and I remember got right up to Mizar before giving up. One of the ffloyd missions gave me a lot of trouble too but I managed to get it in the end.
Conkers Bad Fur day had two moments that I struggled with (the lava race and the alien tail swing) but I managed to beat it on N64 without activating Easy mode. Super proud of that.
Turok 2: I agreed with almost everything you said. The lair of the blind ones actually made me buy a strategy guide to help me out, and you know what it said? "Okay we've held your hand long enough, from this point on we're only going to give you a general idea of what to do." This was at the lair of the blind ones segment. I think it even broke the ones who write strategy guides.
I miss the Rare level of difficulty in games. Very rewarding once you commited and managed to overcome. Games these days hold your hand far too much.
Some hard games, but I think you missed a big one with StarCraft 64. It was hard enough on PC in some of those later levels, but add in no mouse and now it’s on the N64? Nigh impossible
Brood War can go fuck itself man, on the PC, I don't even want to think about the N64 version
As an avid pc broodwar player i agree not having hotkeys or a mouse realllllllly puts the restraints on ya
Never beat DK because i couldnt complete the last mini game and get to the last boss, even to this day 😂
I dont blame you for not mentioning it cause it is an obscure RPG but Hybrid heaven is hard as hell.
Such an underrated game
Diddy Kong Racing to me, got really hard in Adventure 2. Does that count as a hard mode? Not sure. But the Silver Coin placements got even more ridiculous (to the point you needed to go into water as a kart, which you need to be completely prepared for to beat) and I think the bosses were even harder. And as you point out, neither of those things was exactly easy in the first version.
And Perfect Dark you didn't even mention the Singleplayer multiplayer vs bots, which against DarkSims could get very challenging as well, particularly when the game pits you against more than one.
FZeroX I never found challenging as a kid, but coming back to it now, yeah, it's no FZeroGX, which was literally impossible, but could still be hard. Jet Force Gemini I remember I couldn't beat the final boss, but then I just stopped playing it for months, came back and did it first time easily.
I thought turok the orginal was hard cause i keep losing where i was
As a kid I probably didn't know if the controls were bad in Superman 64 or if it was me.
Perfect Dark is a good game, but it's difficulty comes from the controls and that's an issue, it pretty much expects mouse precission, out of an N64 controller, do you see the problem here? There is a fan port to PC and it's still hard, but not as unreasonable, the lack of health packs is also a bizarre design choice, like, why do you remove a common feature in FPS games at the time? Even on console, they kept the healing items.
The big problem (and I love Perfect Dark) is the later levels where the guards all carry K7 Avengers that destroy your health and knock you back.
@@MrJohnlennon007 and if you get knocked back, your aim is off, you need to slowly aim again, get knocked back again...
Let’s get a GameCube games ranking!
I can see why Diddy Kong Racing was a lil tougher for you, in the game play you don't take any of the boosts effectively, you get more boost when you release the accelerator during the boost for a max boost, lol. But I agree those wizpig races were tough.
Saw the title of this video and thought to myself.. "Jet Force Gemini better be number 1 on here.." 😂
What I couldn't stand were those Floyd the Droid missions. I'll never go back trying to beat this game for that reason alone.
JFG is still one of my favorite games of all-time, however.
The Floyyd missions were hard, but I recently realized the only one you gotta do is for the ear plugs.
Slime
Lol you said merry Christmas jon bro you know were still in June right silly jon ^^
PLEASE USE CHAPTERS!
As long as Superman was on this list , thats all that mattered lol
Blast corpe desserved a placing. My god that game made me so angry as a kid. Remeber one of The last level. A dump truck. Sort time and a hell alot of buildings. Oh it still makes me angry i feel
That first Wizpig race alone is enough to secure DKR a low spot on the list. Also telling that over half of the list is Rare.
15:54 there is operatic performance video for the great mighty poo.
most of the game you mention while being hard were also some of the best games out for any platform. you didnt mind the difficulty of most of these because they were so good. dk64 though.... eugh.
I used cheats for shadows of the empire lol
For me, the hardest part of Diddy Kong Racing was beating all the time trials to unlock T.T. I guess that falls more under 100% completion rather than just a basic playthrough of the game, but it took me many many many years to achieve that goal.
Oh if I included that Diddy Kong Racing is top 5 easy
Conker is a very hard game, and not because its fair. Its because it has frustrating level design and gimmicks, that just suck
22:41 time management is the most important thing.
Glover? Nope no glover… hated it
Hot take: Perfect Dark is a much better game overall than GoldenEye.
Maybe this is the first list I agree with. I would change a few positions though. Diddy Kong Racing is so unbalanced, I never beat it, I don't understand why people love this game, it's frustrating. Some levels in StarCraft 64 are pretty challenging.
I’m noticing a lot of Rareware titles in this list.
Please do a ranking video on superman games
I second that
ranking every superman game: Worst to less worse? lol
@TotallyTubularJonathan lol pretty much. That would be a awesome video
Cradle - 00-agent - goldeneye… hardest mission on 00-agent by far.
Oh almost forgot, control on 00-agent 😂 thats a hard one as well
Majora mask is pretty damn hard
It's okay, Jonathan. Anyone who says Sekiro is easy has played the game so much they don't remember their first playthrough.
World Driver Championsdhip and Goldeneye
Sekiro hard AF!
jet force is not hard (for someone around 13 and up), the tribals are divided by sections so its not that hard of a task to save a sections tribals not a whole level, if you dont favor and or learn when not to use the risky big explosion crazy sight weapons its not bad with the tribals (i favored the normal gun bcuz i like keeping the other guns for big fights) there are a few ants that are set up to execute some of them but its usually a way to get their attention or kill them. or run and get them without killing the ant first, I believe it was more of a lack of vaiety on how to apporach a problem that made him feel that it was such a herculean task
Listen dude, can you concider ranking Warhammer games,? Have you played some of them ? Thanks.
man Warhammer would be a massive list theres like 100 games lol. I have played a few. I will do a list in the future on something Warhammer, prob when Space Marine 2 comes out
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Yeah I know, I meant like the modern ones, next gen or something. By the way I was thinking about subscribing to your Patreon, can you tell me what I will find there ?
@@Fluffychoupikkos I believe I will do a modern games list. On my patreon you get ad free videos priority requesting and shoutouts! All the money goes specifically to video related things such as games or equipment (like my new tripod)
@@TotallyTubularJonathan That's great, it will get one or two days for patreon because I don't know how to operate it yet. But you will see me there pretty soon !
Where's Gwimbly 2: Count Groxia Strikes Back?
I kinda wish there were time stamps
Far as storm troopers being terrible shots, it's a funny joke, but pay attention to the movies. They absolutely mow down any character not wearing plot armor. Just can't hit the main characters for some reason.
Sekiro is hard. Idk what nerd said it wasnt.
Rank every Pokemon GAmes!
Listen to my idea : REMAKE Shadows of the Empire !
been calling for this for years.
Will never happen as a straight up remake but they could do much with it.
Been playing Jedi Survivor with the blister stance and an outfit akin to Dash Rendar 🤌
@@sc3ku a remaster ?
I know I'm awesome
I love the mini games from donkey kong 64
Same here, the game is my childhood and a big N64 game.
I consider myself to have always been bad at video games and I beat Shadows of the Empire, Perfect Dark, DK64 and Majora's Mask as a kid. In my mind N64 games are easy compared to Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, I can't think of a single one of those games I beat, I may have been a bit too young for that though.
but you hate
you are not a gamer, holy crap
MAN I CAN TELL U TRY A HYPERKIN OR HORI N64 CONTROLLER THEY WORK QUITE A BIT BETTER IF U WANT TRY ONE OF MY FAVORITES TRY ROBOTRON 64 THE GAME 200{+BONUS LEVS AND THE STARTS SLOW AND AS LATER THERE MORE AND MORE AND WHATS MAKES IT HARD IS THAT THE ENEMYS KEEP SPEEDING UNTILL THE ROUNDS END OR YOU DIE!
This guy just hates RARE games. Lol 90% of this list is Rare Games. Even Blast Corps got a mention...
Lol I literally ranked all their n64 games I love them so much
False. Diddy Kong Racing is hard as shit. Lol it's absolutely worthy of your list, this is not a children's game 😂
