Turns out to have been one of the worst ideas ever. There should have been class action lawsuits against this system given the amount of grief and cost it put it's owners through.

As a 20 year 'veteran' as a Master Technician at GM dealerships, I can very confidently say that those systems are cheap to fix and very reliable overall. I have had the lock cylinder fail on my 1995 SSEI once at 120K. It gave me LOTS of warning, with an intermittent Security light, with the code set. Fixed it in my garage is about an hour. No issues since....running perfect at 167K.
Everybody wants to 'sue the manufacturer', usually because of some system that needs some basic service or fix. You probably would want to sue GM if someone stole the car with a $2 screwdriver, because there WASN'T a theft deterrent system.

Spazoid.. I feel ya, me and my little girl was STUCK in the middle of winter with the security light on (sleet, snow, & FREEZING!!) in a parking lot that the store just HAD to happen to close (it was in the middle of the night)... we sat there over 4 1/2 HOURS before it decided to start!! Not only FREEZING our ass's off but had to pee too :-( ! Did you EVER find out how to bypass that light? My car starts when it wants, makes me late or have to cancel appointments, and leaves me stuck ALOT!
SICK AND TIRED OF SECURITY LIGHTS!

I’m struggling with determining if the Anti Theft Program can be disarmed? Something has triggered my 1998 Buick to think that someone is breaking in (Remote malfunctioned a few years back so I use my key all the time). In a few days the Battery is dead. I have a new Battery, New Starter in and still am experiencing the drain. Garage said you can’t disconnect this factory Valet system but guy friends say they think you can? Horn honking, lights flashing, buttons clicking, we have a ton of drama and stress but no consistent use of the 1998 Buick Lesabre. 😥 HELP

Buick has had so many recalls, such as Buick is recalling nearly 24,000 Regal sedans, Regal Sport back hatchbacks, and Regal Tour X wagons from the 2018 through 2020 model years because a software error could make braking more difficult. If the vehicle's vacuum power brake assist fails, the supplemental hydraulic brake boost may not engage. And....Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
Engine And Engine Cooling - Engine
Engine And Engine Cooling - Exhaust System - Manifold/Header/Muffler/Tail Pipe
I had the recall done on my manifold, and it still leaking, called Buick, dealership, and he told me that they already did the repair, I don't think they ever did, I will never buy USA Made vehicles from now on only the best🇯🇵

my car is fully electric, windows and doors. Although I don't have type of electronic bypass to unlock the doors or anything like that... Is that something I should be worried about when I watch your video. my main concern is obviously I don't have an electronic key to unlock my doors or anything...
also my key doesn't have an electronic key built into it whether it's in the main part of the key or small chip in the key, my kids solid silver and I have no idea what to do

I know what a fucking securty system does.. HOW THE FUCK DO I GET MY FUCKING CAR TO START WHEN THE SECURITY SYSTEM BECOMES FAULTY AND NO LONGER ALLOWS MY CAR TO START. I HAVE TWO SETS OF KEYS, CAR WORKED FINE UP TO TWO DAYS AGO, NOW WON'T ALLOW ME TO START IT AT ALL. Won't even attempt to start any more. REPLACED battery, starter, cables, KEY, and every other part pos napa said may cause it. Now I come to find out the security system is preventing it from starting. HOW THE FUCK DO I DISABLE?

      @xSpazoidz 9 років тому

Megan Elizabeth I did not, after 300 bucks with no results, I just scrapped it. There are some UA-cam vids out there that can give you some fixes (I'm definitely not a car guy so had mechanic look into it for me) after my mechanic told me replacing the system seemed to be only fix. I'd tell you what I all tried, but was about a year ago, and I don't remember :S
Adding a Transistor (resister? can't remember which term sorry) seems to help a lot with my issue, but not for my car. Search UA-cam for Pass Key Bypass, you can get the part from a local Car Audio/Accessories store. Hope this helps and I wish you luck in getting it fixed! Hope you have better luck than I did.

I have my own mechanic, has your mechanic told you that you need to replace the lock and tumbler cylinder, because it has a sensor within it that also has a problem with the anti-theft light on the dashboard?? If not has he asked if it needs a fuel injector cleaner now? I only ask this because my car has the same problem... It will seem to start but then it will say anti-theft lock as if I'm trying to steal it which is BS

Why if you get another key made, that key can work at one point, then suddenly fail? Now I need to go to Serv-U for the third time now, just to get my key fixed again! Plus to add, I spent money on parts for my car, because I was told, that my car wasn't starting because I need a new starter, or battery ect! Only to finally realize that chip stop working or some other malfunction, or the chip needs reprogramming!

Jesus Loera I have a 1996 riviera and I have to wait three minutes for the security light to turn off and sometimes multiple times, then the car will start. So I went to the dealership and they told me it was the ignition lock cylinder that had to be replaced and it's going to cost me $350.00 to get it fixed. These problems happen alot with Buicks so don't get to frustrated, other then the security system they are good car's though.

I have a 1998 Buick Lesabre Limited. I recently bought. It sat for over a year. I bought a new battery and it started right up, I test drove it and then locked it up and came home to Massachusetts, The car was in New Hampshire. During this time My daughter and her neighbor told me the alarm kept on going on, it eventually killed the battery. I unfortunately had the key and fob with me in Massachusetts. 2 months later I went back up to take the car home with me . I tried to start it with a new battery again ,and it wouldn't start. And still today, I cannot get it started, it cranks but won't start. I've tried the relearn process to no avail. CAN ANYONE help with this?. The security light is flashing, but it only cranks and won't fire up! I'm desperate here. The car runs perfectly, IF IT WOLD START!

Keep track of paperwork, on the battery, you could have got scammed with an old used battery, There are dates on battery's you must learn how to read them, I learned the hard way
I bought, what I thought was a new battery, and when I found out on UA-cam how to check for the Date on the battery I found out that 🔥Stone, sold me 9 year old battery, I was outraged, went to there store and told them I was sold an old battery and I paid for new, And I snapped a picture of the date on the battery, So this guy went to put another battery in and I yelled at him to let me see the date, women get taken advantage of big time, I will never go back to 🔥Stones again ever, you need to have someone check the date good luck 👍 Plus when ever you buy a vehicle always go look for the recalls my 1998 Buick regal, had a lot of recalls one was fire under the hood, from the manifold leaking oil, Buick dealership, repaired it still leaks and they won't replace it a second time I don't think they did it the first time, I will never buy USA made vehicles again, They are rust buckets you have to look under a car before buying it Japan soaks there vehicles in a rust resistant fluid, at there plants .and again Check for the recalls on your car, Buicks can be dangerous and you don't have to pay all recalls are free good luck🤞

I just bought a 2002 Buick century custom my car runs great when it starts. So some time's I shut it off then go to start it, all it does is turn the engine over as if I'm not getting fuel, so I let it sit for a few and it will start up and run again like it's brand-new. Kind of like the security system. What could this be? Anybody who might know what it is please let me know?

    • @AranCinar

Probably not the same thing but I had this problem and it ended up being the electrical connections to the fuel pump, if it's been changed out it was likely done with these crummy plastic connectors, so I soldered them.
