This was in the mid to late 60's..."GOSPEL SINGING JUBILEE" used to come on every Sunday morning before going to Church. Florida Boys, Happy Goodman Family, Inspirations. Dixie Echoes, The Singing Rambos, The Hinson Family...etc.
You know i was listening to the Happy Goodman way back when i was just about 10 yrs old , i'm 65 now and i watched Vestal get more and more beautiful through the years as she grew in grace God absolutely beautified her , she began to take on the appearance of an angel more and more. This is my favorite gospel group of all time. I loved them all. Vestal , Seeing you and the Goodmans was on my bucket list , I did see you in Auburn michigan and was hoping so bad to meet you and Howard but it never happened but i did get to see you and Howard sing that night , i can't rem3ember other fellas name.
I’ve never seen this video before I cannot get over how much she sounds like my mother and how much she looks like her mama wore her hair the same way God only knows how much I miss her
I remember vestal, from my childhood. My mother played the piano for a Gospel group called The MelodyMakers, The Happy Goodman Family, along with The Melody Makers, The Oak Rich Boys, and many others.would have Gospel Sings in The old Gulfport High School Auditorium, everyone knew one another and would sing Praises To Our Saviour Jesus Christ. Wonderful Memories ❣️
And today our radios and televisions are just full of prosperity gospel. And there is one simply reason: These people are planing to go to heaven but to live on this earth for ever...God has blessed me with this music...
oh what a blessing and the annointing of the Holy Ghose while they sing... Brings back memories of how churchs use to sound.... I miss the old Pentecostal church services..
I had the wonderful opportunity of going to what they called "gospel singings" with my grandparents, Mom, Dad, and Aunts. Grew up watching/listening to the Goodmans, Cathedrals, Imperials to name a few. Vestal had one big terrific booming voice and it always touched my heart. I love being able to listen them again.
Just think the gold ,silver and precious stones we think to have such great value here He is using for building materials WOW!!! Would not miss it for all the world has to offer :-)
You're right, I have family who are Pentacostal, my aunt had hair that dragged the floor by 3 feet. I watched her once put it up, like she did every single day, by winding it and pinning it to her head until it made a nice flowy big bun. No makeup and no jewelry except wedding rings and watches. She got her hair cut about 7 or 8 years ago because it was too heavy and was causing neck problems. She had grown it out for over 50 years.
When I come over we'll work on it together I believe you would love a tablet, my samsung 3 is a 8 inch, I have it in a ipad case, I take it to publix, drs office, hospital anywhere where there is wifi. Do you have any recent photos of debbie?
SO TRUE SAID SO ITS THE TRUTH ...PRIDE AND MONEY GETS HOLD OF FOLKS A LOT OF FOLKS THAT WERE HOLINESS ARE FALLING AWAY INTO APOSTASY....HEBREWS 12 :14 ,,FOLLOW PEACE WITH ALL MEN,HOLINESS WITH OUT NO MAN SHALL SEE THE LORD...matthew chp 5 saids blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see the Lord;;;;but mrs Vestal could sing ..but less not lift no man up or woman in their self .....Jesus is Lord ..
Really nice you can listen to this song and spout off something negative, if this you step back and think about it you are of the society you claim to be no part of .
We don't, but the world is creeping in the churches. This video was when she had long hair and did not cut her hair or wear pants. I still loved her regardless of that. Very few today do you still see hold on to teh paths of old but some do. I still have a few in my church.
I assume we're talking about her wardrobe here, Said So? Of course, times change, and her wardrobe had to change along with it. My god, could you see her still wearing these clothes from years gone by. She reached many more as the years went on, and part of that was possibly from her transformed appearance. She was simply, magnificent, and a real woman of god. Look inside your own house, lest we judge others. There's only one who can, and he knows the true heart of a person
when you look at the old stuff and see the conservative dress style and the long hair, then come forward a few years when all that was dropped for a more worldly style, you wonder which way is right the old paths way or the new-fangled modern way? Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. it only took the preaching of one verse of scripture to undo the old holiness paths. 1Co 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. here is the kicker, those that jumped ship as soon as they heard the new teaching/preaching proved that they never had a heartfelt conviction concerning their dress and hair, to begin with. if they had a real conviction they would not have jumped ship with the new teaching and preaching. but would have held onto their heartfelt conviction instead of casting it aside at the first opportunity. which only goes to show that they were doing their dress and hairstyle because it was "a requirement at that time" and that it was not a conviction but rather an inconvenience they muddled through.
A lovely version of an old favourite song! However, who thought it was a good idea for Vestal to wear a huge black hornet's nest on her head? Oh my... I wonder what she was thinking when she pulled that giant black helmet on.
1. A country where no twilight shadows deepen, Unending day where night shall never be. A city where no storm clouds ever gather, Now this is just what Heaven means to me. CHORUS: What will it be when we get over yonder And join the throng upon the glassy sea? To greet our loved ones and crown Christ forever, Oh, this is just what Heaven means to me. 2. And when at last we see the face of Jesus, Before whose image other loves all flee. And when they crown him Lord of all I'll be there, Now this is just what Heaven means to me. CHORUS:
@mpcontreras01 hey come to trinity worship center on rosota beach rd in southport fl we have that old time devil chasen sin killen holyghost tounge talking pentacostal church services u talken bout come and be blessed
The Gospel Singing Jubilee ran from 1961 to some time in the mid '70s. I LOVE the Florida Boys! I was glued to the tv every Sunday morning. Even though it only ran for a few years after I was born. I think the station that braodcast it re-ran some of the episodes. Was heartbroken when Les Beasley, manager & lead singer, passed away a month or so ago. Tommy Atwood is 80 now. Lives in Alabama. Les was born in Texas, & was the only Florida Boy to end up in Florida. None of them were from Florida. Not sure how they got the quartet's name.
This was not all Vestal's hair. She has admitted that she used more than one wig, and was piled up high. Most people who have seen her hair like this thinks it's her real hair, but no. Now, years ago, she had longer hair, cut it, and was raked over the coals by women who were also of the Pentecostal faith. Later in her singing years, her hair was cut shorter, and nicely couiffed. That was her real hair from probably the late 70's on.
You mean the Wig she is wearing! If you read her book she explains that all those years during the Big Hair Days it was a wig. Don't be so quick to judge people. Start cleaning around your own front door first.
The greatest of all time in country gospel…. No other lady was close.

Always remember this anointed voices.
I used to watch Gospel Singing Jubilee every time it was on back in the 70s. I was not allowed to go to church so this was my church.
Nobody will ever have a voice like Vestal.
And today our radios and televisions are just full of prosperity gospel. And there is one simply reason: These people are planing to go to heaven but to live on this earth for ever...God has blessed me with this music...
When Vestal turns her face toward the source (heaven) the anointing just covers her and you and the music, everything.
VESTAL GOODMAN WAS GREAT. ANGELS SINGING IN HEAVEN NOW

She surely reached the world, and it is clear that the world reached her as well.
Find you a old time Holiness Church we still have services just like they used to.
praise The Lord 🙏🙂

Even in his younger days, Rusty Goodman always favored Conway Twitty. Ironically, they died three years apart. Rusty in 1990 and Conway in 1993.
I know She has to be a Strong Woman to hold up that Bee Hive Hair. They gave My Mom a terrible Headache.
@hiu1787 You got that Right !! The Best !
Any information on this recording? Date, etc

People use to look Godly like this but not anymore,,,,even Vestal ended up looking like Jezebel
Said So don't be such a negative person
