They rent land from the gov...the BLM, then pay for fencing, maintaining water developments which wildlife also get to use then pay for all the labor. They also pay for hay to feed their animals when their allotment is unusable due to drought, fire and often times wild horses have overgrazed the land. They do all this to grow your food and try to make a living at it.

I think ranchers should only graze their animals on the land they own or rent from another owner.
