That was my hiker to town and trail sign from last year. I made it in the UK, and gave it to a trail buddy at PVC to hitch into Idyllwild. I wonder where it's been before you picked it up. 👍🏻

Such fascinating desert plants and cacti that I haven't seen before. The desert can be quite beautiful in the early morning or at dusk.

Keep it up. I honestly think the southern section is the worst of the whole hike. Once you make it to the Big Bear area everything gets much better, especially with water!
The desert is so beautiful and what a year and moment to be there! It is all wonderful, just different. Such is life. Treasure it. Parts suck but then the magic follows.
I subscribed to follow your Sierra Designs quilt (plus the hiking), I just bought that for hammock backpacking, I've only napped with it in the back yard, hope it's keeping you warm!

That cactus is a Cholla. Pronounced, Choy Ya. Stay away from those bad boys.

I don’t understand how Moms pie can afford to give free pie to every single hiker that goes through there? That’s thousands of pieces! I’ll feel guilty for getting a free piece, but I know I’ll enjoy it. Guess I’ll just tip big and buy extra food from them.
