The first thing we did after getting back and before doing laundry or go through the mail was to binge watch all of your videos we missed! We have followed you on UA-cam since about your first month. You have allowed us to enjoy at least a snippet of it. Through these last few videos, we’ve noticed that you were slowing down and enjoying the moment. Carpe Diem. Thanks for taking the time to enjoy every day. Granted you’re showing us the good side and alluding to how difficult parts of it had been. What better time to do what you accomplished than the present? As you get older and take on more responsibilities you will relish the time you invested. You will have much time to get older, but you’re only young once, at least in this incarnation. Stay on your path and enjoy your youth.

It's been decades since I used an ice axe so take this with a grain of salt but unlike Turtle, I would use the other end of the ice axe to slow and steer my decent, still holding it ready for self arrest. It would be easier to keep sliding but you can roll on to your belly and self arrest at any time if necessary.

Oh the term "alpine" means above treeline, so if you happen to be among trees you are not in an alpine zone. There is also a term "sub-alpine" which is for the zone just below treeline where you will tend to find different varieties of plantlife than those you find at lower elevations the specific species will differ depending on where you are. On the upper ends of sub-alpine zones you will find more prostrate plantlife including Krummholz trees which are the particularly warped and low growing trees you find at treeline.

02:30: I estimate that less than 1/10 % people hike the High Sierra, let alone through-hike PCT. Even as a non-smoker, I always suffered over 11k ft, but still loved it.

Hi R & D From a PCT fan I needed a day to pass before watching this Congratulations to all of you who have hiked this trail. A true EPIC adventure of a lifetime and for you two one of many to come i am sure of. I pick several hikes each year to follow as the journey begins far before you ever get to the starting day. I hope this next year 2025 will be my year to do some of the PCT. I am determined to hike it even if it’s only a few sections. Do just let me say thank you for taking me on a adventure with you from home watching you go from the start through each town and mountain and valleys over coming pain and blisters going several miles from sunrise to sunset and never getting to the point of saying goodbye to the trail. I know so many hikers fall in love with the trail only to find it’s not easy and the trails find a way to give you everything you need. It’s been a great experience for me to walk with you through your journey. Be blessed in everything you do I look forward to seeing you on the next adventure of life JoP

There were only a handful of days where you showed struggle, Marg you even had to go the ER. yet always had a smile. not sure how I am going to fill 20 minutes of my day now that this is over. Congratulations!! Thank you for bringing this to the rest of us! I attempted the PCT in 2019 but that was a historic snow year and I didn't make it through the Sierras. I will be attempting the PCT again in 2026!! I think it would be a very popular post for you if you did a Post PCT video and reviewed all the gear you used, your opinions on gear and what you would do different next time. Also, what did you use for the great video captures and how did you edit on trail, did you use a specific video editing program? Again, congrats and thank you!!
