Just finished your "Resident Evil: Revelations" Review and I was wondering if you had the second one covered as well. Searched for it and found it uploaded 3 min ago?! Nice, thanks man! Appreciate your work. Love your Dead Space Reviews as well!
0:44 Really? I thought Rev 2 leaned more on horror than any other game between RE3 and RE7. It's just a different type of horror: more American film and less classic RE. And I think it pulled it off much better than Rev 1. On a separate note, I think Rev 2 has by far the best gameplay prior to RE2make.
The Revelations series feels so weird to me. There were things I really liked about them, but they also feel kind of cheap and forgettable. They were definitely better than RE6 by a mile though.
This is definitely one of my favorite Resident Evil titles. There's a good single player campaign and enough to do outside of it with Raid Mode, which can also be played online. Very proud owner of this game on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita. Although that last version isn't the best... 😉 Hopefully, a Resident Evil Revelations 3 is in the works...
This game didn’t have a way to play co-op with friends online so my friend and I played a little bit of it on local co op and… I hope you don’t like shooting, because you’re going to point at things instead. Went back to 5, had a great time.
I first played Revelations 2 on ps3 back in 2015. I started it again yesterday. I have forgotten how good it was, and Barry(who is my favourite character along with Chris and Jill) makes it even better.
I remember the marketing campaign for Rev 2. Where Claire was presented the most. Then for me to find out Rev 2 was technically Barry's game. Which I was pleasantly surprised. Barry did come off as a Japanese Liam Neeson. He is a good combination of modern games of the time of cheesy dialogue and fun atmosphere. I remember the note of the woman with a missing husband then for the note to end on cannibalism. It genuinely unsettled me after reading that note. I got the game for Raid mode as I like to obsessively work toward 100% completion of skills and weapon builds. HUNK was the main reason I got the game in the first place. He's been my favorite since I played RE4 Mercs and Mercs 3D. I got bored of Borderlands 2 at the time. (Now I can barely stomach the writing anymore).
I had A LOT of fun with Revelations 1 and 2. But as a dad when I first played Revelations 2: (a) Barry is now my favorite Resident Evil character (Leon will always be a close second), and (b) this game probably hit me a bit differently because I was a dad. It's like the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The end of that movie with Yondu had recent-dad me having all the feels in a way that I had never had before.
If you ever wanted Richard Marcinko, the Rogue Warrior, the guy who created the legendary SEAL Team Six, in Resident Evil then Barry does a better job at playing him than Micky Rourke.
revelations 2 has lots to offer an RE fan, I really enjoyed it and it’s quite a beefy game. Raid mode is fantastically addictive one you get into it. The co op on raid mode is great fun too.
Well i am currently not completly done with this game but everything was nice besides 2 enemies 1. These giant revenants that shoot arms which nearly insta kill you and blind you because their spawns were sometimes utter bullshit And 2. the fucking invisible fly things! WHO decided it would be a "good idea" to place them in a escape sequence on a narrow walkway (chapter 4-1) Besides that yeah alot of enemies that can insta kill you and some slight enemy spam (might be normal i am new to the series) but besides that i loved every bit of this game it scared me more than expected :)
I've spent an inordinate amount of time playing this game! I loved the story and especially Raid mode. The grinding for items and levelling up of all your characters, unlocking costumes is sweet. The dynamics of the two pairs of characters is endearing to me. The episodic style worked here in my opinion, It gives you an automatic cut-off from the game. When my PS4 got bricked I got sad because it means I won't be able to play this game ever again. Now I can only watch with nostalgia when reviews like this gets uploaded.
2:47 ok thats complete bs lmao. given everything we've seen in resident evil, this is where you draw the line? yeah, no.they fit in perfectly in this universe.
The last great Resident Evil game for me. Brought back old characters and was actually pretty scary first time playing it. A different virus was introduced, the story was better than the first one and it fits well into the universe. Biggest mistake they did was with Claire. But overall, it's my second favorite after 4, especially since they respected the franchise's history. RIP Resident Evil 1996-2015.
Resident Evil is such a great franchise with possibly one of the most grounded, nontoxic fan bases. It's really been a great source of entertainment from my teens thru adulthood.
Rev 2 was actually one of my favorites from the whole series! The episodic nature was nice and different and helps break up the pace. I loved the character moments, especially for Barry and Moira. I think mechanically, it's one of the best played games, too! I loved the robust dodge mechanic, and the skill tree was a welcomed addition IMO. Having a dedicated melee button is very nice for quick jabs and finishers. This all fit perfectly together for the kinds of enemies you deal with in this game! Overall it was an 8, maybe a 9? out of 10 for me
Anyone knows how to download the full game or it's episodes on Xbox 360 ? I download the game and it only plays for a bit demanding to download episode 1 ... Anyone has the full game on Xbox 360 ? Or isn't it free ?
Just finished this game with some besties and this definitely had Silent Hill 2 vibes, the weird marionette enemies, the past trauma affecting a good/bad ending situation. I also feel like we got the original inspiration for "bug lady" that we saw the reverse of in VII
There was more of an emphasis on melee combat and "subweapon" usage equivalent to grenades, etc. While I consider Rev1 to be one of the greatest accomplishments in the RE series, I'd have to give Rev2 the edge due to its replay value within the main campaign...where treasure hunting/melee strategies are addicting. Also prefer the dialogues, writing, and voice acting in Rev2 superior...Rev1 would be higher but Chris is soooo boring in that lol
I played this when it came out on the PS3. Really enjoyed it, but I just hate that they lock you with the bad ending when you execute the midpoint boss as Claire. Never bothered playing thru the campaign again, just fcked around in Raid Mode
Damn crazy how nobody is really talking about how underrated this channel is, the videos are of impeccable quality this guy deserves so many more subs, I wish you all the best
Just buy the damn game. It's low budget, but it's great if you're and old timer. Gameplay is smoother than 5 but you won't be dodging bullets, triple back flipping and web swinging like in 6. It's a more grounded game which i believe had some roots for RE7. Having an agressive and passive character dynamic was great. Though there's no online co-op, i can hardly see people match making so a stranger could be spotting itens and blinding monsters for 2 hours. Also the raid mode is great, i've spent more time in it that i want to admit it. Being a spin-off low budget RE, you can find it really cheap nowadays in a Steam sale, if you see it buy it without thinking twice.
This is a great coop game to play with someone who doesn't really do video games. I wish more games has these kind of asymmetric coop. Also, a grown up Natalia would be an interesting Mercenaries character to play as. Weak attacks but fast dodging and can see through walls, build enough combo/points to unleash an ultra powerful Wesker mode for 30 seconds. Enemies would have randomized weak points for her to exploit or for coop partner to do so. An unlockable costume/load out can be a construction worker that uses bricks and mortar as weapons.
I don't understand why they didn't continue the series. Also you didn't mention that in this game Claire DOES have a relationship! Yeah! Well it ends tragically but hey. Also why they never mention the ending in the other games. I guess it is non canon or something.
I played the first Revelation game on PC and was amazed to learn it was a port from the DS. The second game is equally fun, despite the slightly disappointing characterisation of Claire this time
I didn't play REV1 but I love this game, especially the arcade mode. I legit think it something more games should have. It's free replayability, little need for any new assets.
Really loving your videos man. I also prefer the first Revelations it really feels like something was missing from the sequel to it. I really wish Revelations 1 had the mechanics of Revelations 2. It feels like each one is missing some element it needed that the other had.
Hell yes! The master of unlocking and Barry “I have this!” Burton. The true OG duo. Jill and Chris are awesome and all, but I feel like Chris is better as a lone wolf, much like Leon.
@@aleisinwndrlen7113 Yeah I’ve always found them overrated as a team. Rev1 is the only time where they work together an entire game and it’s beyond forgettable. The only time there is any kind of focus on their actual relationship is RE5 and that’s only from Chris’ perspective. Jill has a much better dynamic with Barry or Carlos.
Wish the whole game starred Barry Burton. My 2nd favorite RE character of all time. #1 is Hunk. Both got shafted by Capcom. Didn't care for the big retcon this game made with the Wesker children as RE5 was pretty clear that Albert was the last one left. Did you see how Capcom flipped the bird to Dino Crisis fans at the latest Sony showcase with that online only EDF knock off game? Very lame. Capcom, like Square Enix lately, is out of touch with fans.
I played this game with my pal and it was fun…. For him, I was stocked as player 2, and if you played this game you know player 2 is useless aside from the fact you point things 😂
Man, it's only been 1.5 games and I already miss playing as the OG characters. Hopefully the new RE game has us playing as one of them, or even better, make a new iconic character who won't be sent to the island where some RE characters are sent and are never heard from again.
The series needs more new characters. Ethan's a good first step in my opinion, because the og characters are getting old in universe. Chris, Jill, Leon, Ada and Claire are almost 50. Barry is gonna hit 60 or maybe even more by now. Rebecca, the young STARS rookie from 0 is in her early to mid 40s. Even Sherry one of the youngest og characters is in her 30s now. There's just so much they can do if they wanna keep the games timeline going.
At release Revelations 2 was the worst. Episodes where so overpriced that my buddy and i just stuck with episode one. A year later when they sold the episodes for a few bucks in a bundle we bought it....and damn was it a blast. Raid Mode is really nice just like Revelations 1 but the best thing was Story in Coop. If you have someone whos okay with being a more Passive Player...its really REALLY fun. Working together to take enemies down. Find the weakspots and screaming to the other player "more to the left no the other left!" Its just great. And if youre not having someone who likes playing passive... You can either just Switch between Player 1 and Player 2 so that both can have a turn shooting stuff. Or you can Unlock a Infinite Use Katana for Moira and a Bubble Gun (which stuns Enemies) for Natalia. But if you use them...the Story Missions become a utter Joke so i would recommend those items for a Second Playthrough. (They also have crazy unlock requirements. But on Pc you can download an Unlock all Save or Cheat Table lol)
I'll never understand how this game has more action than Rev 1. Rev 1 had all the Chris, Parker, and Keith sections, as well as Jill's 2nd half. Rev 2 has more puzzles, inventory management, key items, and scarier enemies with Revenants and Glasps.
Yeah, not sure what he was talking about with that one. RE1 absolutely has more action, by far. That game has basically no puzzles aside from the little touch screen one that takes a few seconds to do, there's no real stealth in it, there's a ton of situations where they want to put time pressure on you, the plot itself after not very long starts to gain a sense of urgency, etc. Point being, there's not much to *do* in Revelations 1 except... kill enemies on your way to your objective, where you'll kill more enemies. The only real breaks you get from that are some brief bits of exploration around the small ship, with most areas being locked off to you until they become available to you piecemeal (and you've probably forgotten about the optional areas in question), and the swimming sections which are, uh, not fun in the slightest. On the contrary, I'd argue Revelations 2 is the slowest paced game in that whole second generation of Resident Evil games (RE4 through Revelations 2) with, by far, the strongest horror elements.
@@innoclarke7435 Revelations 2 also has a much better story on top of all that, with far more connections to past entries and great character development. And while the game is linear, each individual area has far more of an emphasis on exploration and puzzles. Kinda like the 2nd half of RE3. Revelations 2 also has an atmosphere reminiscent of the GameCube entries and the best Zapping system in the series! I can't praise this game enough man!
@@Potatopecker Agreed on all points. I just played through both Rev games. I thought I'd like Rev 1, but I kinda hate its campaign. Rev 2, however, I ended up adoring. Where Rev 1's story felt disconnected and shittily written, Rev 2 ties in with a bunch of games effortlessly and has a story worth a damn, without also having characters like 1's Quint Cetchan and Keith Lumley. We got a villain actually of note. The Kafka fixation felt far better utilized than 1's obsession with the Divine Comedy. In terms of the level design, I felt like I was exploring a lot more. The levels may not loop as much as Boulder Punch would like, but it is far superior in getting you to actually engage with the world. 1's environments are, at times, quite nice artistically, but a lot of it is bland and the atmosphere drops out as a consequence, which is something Revelations 2 almost never has happen. The zapping system is also really clever, managing to combine both RE2's style of "some decisions will have an impact later when you play as another character" and Zero's "swap between characters at will" system to great effect. It feels like they learned every important lesson that they needed to learn from Zero's implementation, too, making it mostly painless, while keeping the interesting opportunities such a system allows for. It's wild to me how little Rev 2 is acknowledged, and when it is, it's shrugged off. People said after 6, the series needed to slow down again, bring back the tension, and smaller scale storytelling. Rev 2 does this all exactly, and yet nobody cared. Meanwhile, 7 is a far worse game with less replay value, tension, less clever design, atrocious enemy variety, and the quality is vastly inconsistent, all while failing to feel like a Resident game at all. It's a PT and Outlast ripoff with some Resident Evil design elements spruced within. Objectively a worse game from top to bottom, but it gets all this credit it doesn't deserve for scaling back the series after 6. Pisses me off tbqh.
@@innoclarke7435 Revelations 2 also has some of the best files in the series. They're really eerie and develop the world in a way that is on par with RE2. And the other thing is Revelations 2 has the same director as RE5, RE2R, RE3R, and RE4R. Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi as lead game designer. These dudes KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!! I still love 7 and 8, but it's insane to me how these dudes keep being relegated to the Remakes and not mainline. I seriously think if RE9 has the Remake team on it, it could be the best RE to date. All of Ampo's games have a HUGE focus on story, lore, and characters. As well as a general classic metroidvania and monster design. And most importantly...THEY'RE FUN!! If RE9 isn't a Metroidvania action blend with classic characters and connections to past games and lore, then imma riot lol.
Moira was my favorite character in this game, lot of emotional depth and I love how the endings are connected to her *spoilers* trauma related to guns. Only thing this game is missing is online play with a friend, otherwise it's perfect
I loved this game, it was my second re game and I really enjoyed it, I personally like it more than the original but that’s mainly because of the Characters I mean I love Parker but Moira and Natalia, Alex, Barry, they’re all amazing And the difference between the first episodes areas, and the final episodes contrast so much. But I hope we get a follow up Barry and Moira are awesome, and we haven’t seen anyone apart from the classic cast since 2013/2012/2011/2009(Jill) I like re7 and village but there’s no revelations or anything to give us the adventures of the old cast And that scene of Barry leaving the helicopter- She called him ‘dad’ 🥺🥺🥺
I could never understand why people kept calling Rev 2 old school. It's pretty much a low budget B-team RE5. Still fun enough, but I'd play pretty much any of the mainline games over this.

The vast majority of video game and film dialog is extremely unrealistic, and goes seemingly out of its way to not be vulgar or objectionable. I believe what you're actually experiencing is some kind of existential crisis of self in that you obviously wish society spoke in a manner that's represented in film and television, but for most real people that's not how they talk to one another. The great voices of our time and before have proven this again again where in the most foul mouthed representatives of our society are also hailed as being the great truth speakers and story tellers. ie George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Penn Jillette, etc. Even Jordan Peterson Swears on occasion if you get him worked up about something he deeply cares about. To many of us swearing is a sign of being "switched on" it's kind of like how people dislike anger without realizing that it was the catalyst to many of the positive changes that shaped society for the better.
Just finished your "Resident Evil: Revelations" Review and I was wondering if you had the second one covered as well. Searched for it and found it uploaded 3 min ago?! Nice, thanks man! Appreciate your work. Love your Dead Space Reviews as well!
Nice timing.
That scene made me fall in love with Barry as a character. He's in my top 5 because of this game.
When the raid logo appeared I skipped ahead 30 seconds and was confused why it was still gameplay
Hopefully, a Resident Evil Revelations 3 is in the works...
Really enjoyed this game for what it was ..
Got it for pretty cheap and definitely got my moneys worth .. pity there wasn’t a sequel ..
The remix theme music in raid mode from Resident Evil 6 mercenaries is the best thing that came out of it.
Barry is such a DILF
This game didn’t have a way to play co-op with friends online so my friend and I played a little bit of it on local co op and… I hope you don’t like shooting, because you’re going to point at things instead.
Went back to 5, had a great time.
I think I might have logged in about 200 hours on the raid mode alone for this game, the perfect portable experience imo.
I first played Revelations 2 on ps3 back in 2015. I started it again yesterday. I have forgotten how good it was, and Barry(who is my favourite character along with Chris and Jill) makes it even better.
I can now only hear alex wesker as Connies Mom and now i cant unhear it lmaoo
I love Claire and Barry. Natalia is a pretty decent partner. But I love Moira's character arc. Great character.
Thank you Boulder.
The end of that movie with Yondu had recent-dad me having all the feels in a way that I had never had before.
rev 2 is my 2nd fav game re2 remake is my number 1
If you ever wanted Richard Marcinko, the Rogue Warrior, the guy who created the legendary SEAL Team Six, in Resident Evil then Barry does a better job at playing him than Micky Rourke.
Dude I nerded this video game so much I've done all achievement in campaign mode and almost all raid mode
revelations 2 has lots to offer an RE fan, I really enjoyed it and it’s quite a beefy game. Raid mode is fantastically addictive one you get into it. The co op on raid mode is great fun too.
I played 270 hours of Raid Mode and still I have only completed half of the characters. 😁
Great controls and combat mechanics.
I feel like Claire has been getting shafted. It sucks
Well i am currently not completly done with this game but everything was nice besides 2 enemies 1. These giant revenants that shoot arms which nearly insta kill you and blind you because their spawns were sometimes utter bullshit
And 2. the fucking invisible fly things! WHO decided it would be a "good idea" to place them in a escape sequence on a narrow walkway (chapter 4-1)
Besides that yeah alot of enemies that can insta kill you and some slight enemy spam (might be normal i am new to the series) but besides that i loved every bit of this game it scared me more than expected :)
I’d swear a lot if I was being chased by nemesis. That dude is scary.
The Last of Us always felt like a Revelations spiritual successor.
Buy it for the pc then. Playstation is far from being the only option in playing this game.
I can't wait to get a new controller for my PS4 so I can play this with my wife again
I hope that I'm not the only one who spent an embarrassing amount of hours on the raid mode of this game.
nope, you're not! :)
270 hours and still I need to complete the other half of the characters.
No it’s just fantastic
Barry is just a cool dude.
Resident Evil is such a great franchise with possibly one of the most grounded, nontoxic fan bases. It's really been a great source of entertainment from my teens thru adulthood.
Pretty sure Resident Evil has one of the most horniest fan bases out there
@@bamban_garcia5562 As is expected from a Japanese game. Well, not saying that games from other countries don’t have spergy fans either but you know..
@@aleisinwndrlen7113 Pretty sure those fans are experts at playing with one hand when it comes to Resident Evil
This game is worth it alone because of Barry The Burtonator
Oh Barry!
Damn crazy how nobody is really talking about how underrated this channel is, the videos are of impeccable quality this guy deserves so many more subs, I wish you all the best
Great video as always
Loved to play as Barry.
You’re more consistent than my dad
You think you could make a video on The Evil Within at some point?
It's my favorite "new era" RE game. I wish capcom will make a game like this too.
Was hoping for that Resident Evil Outrage game thats supposedly another Revelations game. Still really want a Revelations 3.
I cannot separate barrys voice actor from crackdown...
I can't really say I remember both Revelations well but it's a pretty decent couple of games to play.
I don't understand why they didn't continue the series. Also you didn't mention that in this game Claire DOES have a relationship! Yeah! Well it ends tragically but hey. Also why they never mention the ending in the other games. I guess it is non canon or something.
🎙 *Previously on Lost..*
I really need to finish this game.😅
i want revelations 3 starring Jill and Barry
post re5
No, Barry and Rebecca~!
Still dont understand why they did with Claire's face...my girl, look how they massacred my girl!
I was waiting for this
Been binging your videos for like a week now and only just now realized I wasn't subbed.
Gotta fix that
why does that kind of look like masvidal in the thumbnail 😂😂
I played the first Revelation game on PC and was amazed to learn it was a port from the DS. The second game is equally fun, despite the slightly disappointing characterisation of Claire this time
Were you upset with Claire unconditionally simping for Neil? Lol
I didn't play REV1 but I love this game, especially the arcade mode. I legit think it something more games should have. It's free replayability, little need for any new assets.
Have you lost your MIND Arthas!?
I have THIS.... Barry Burton legend among men🔥
That little raid joke got me weak lmao 😂
Really loving your videos man. I also prefer the first Revelations it really feels like something was missing from the sequel to it.
I really wish Revelations 1 had the mechanics of Revelations 2. It feels like each one is missing some element it needed that the other had.
I think this straight up might be my favorite Resident Evil game. Definitely my favorite spinoff.
I really want an RE game that reunites Barry and Jill. They are easily my fav RE duo.
@Emo Gamer R Tell me about it. Jill hasn’t had a cannon appearance in 13 years but here we go with Chris again in RE9..
The best RE for me,great review as allways
Wish the whole game starred Barry Burton. My 2nd favorite RE character of all time. #1 is Hunk. Both got shafted by Capcom.
Didn't care for the big retcon this game made with the Wesker children as RE5 was pretty clear that Albert was the last one left.
Did you see how Capcom flipped the bird to Dino Crisis fans at the latest Sony showcase with that online only EDF knock off game? Very lame. Capcom, like Square Enix lately, is out of touch with fans.
WE NEED MORE BARRY
Find the weakspots and screaming to the other player "more to the left no the other left!"
Its just great.
I liked this game, much prefer it over rev 1.
Moira was my favorite character in this game, lot of emotional depth and I love how the endings are connected to her *spoilers* trauma related to guns. Only thing this game is missing is online play with a friend, otherwise it's perfect
"What? What is this?"
This was a goooood game! Not the best but definitely a gooooood game!!
I loved this game, it was my second re game and I really enjoyed it, I personally like it more than the original but that’s mainly because of the Characters
I mean I love Parker but Moira and Natalia, Alex, Barry, they’re all amazing
And the difference between the first episodes areas, and the final episodes contrast so much.
But I hope we get a follow up
Barry and Moira are awesome, and we haven’t seen anyone apart from the classic cast since 2013/2012/2011/2009(Jill)
I like re7 and village but there’s no revelations or anything to give us the adventures of the old cast
And that scene of Barry leaving the helicopter- She called him ‘dad’ 🥺🥺🥺
I could never understand why people kept calling Rev 2 old school. It's pretty much a low budget B-team RE5. Still fun enough, but I'd play pretty much any of the mainline games over this.
Glad someone notice
Revelations 2 is up there with RE2 remake and RE7 as the top games of the past 13 years
