the bald guy really got a rough deal in the drawing
+Based Souljah, i'm a Souljah lmao
+Based Souljah, i'm a Souljah hahah that is so sad
Oh god, The National even slower, and sadder? I don't think anybody could handle that.
The National?
Underrated.
"I would teach my clones to play instruments... better than you guys." LOL
Hahahaha! Please clone Matt Berninger! I will take two please.
"mushroo-"
"underated!"
2:32 that awkward moment that follows. You can drizzle that on pancakes, so thick and heavy.
i had no idea that the National were that old
+SeanDaRyan probably because it doesn't matter
+SeanDaRyan They've been around for over 15 years.
+Telecaster Magician It was just an observation. No need to be so touchy
Kindda' glad they aren't though. A big part of their image is that they're ordinary guys going through ordinary stuff, full of melancholy and heartbreak, but trying, like the rest of us, to keep our chins up and carry on carrying on.
Where is Bryan???
God I would love to split a few bottles of wine with these guys and dork out.
"We don't know rap"
Oh, Matt!
Is it just me or is Matt a bit like Walter White?
I saw them at a festival last summer in Vancouver and Matt said he was getting more open to the idea of wearing shorts on stage... he’s turning
Sting as a general celebrity has become passe and sure the overrated tag is perhaps justified but The Police as a band - way underrated any band with one of the top ten drummers of all time Stewart Copeland + Andy Summers the guitar genius - how can you overrate them ? especially their first two albums
love The National band
I love you, guys, you are great musicians.
things almost got heated during the convo on cloning
I thought they would be sadder than this
love matt and his baritone army
3:00 Golden.
Automatic toilets are soooooo underrated. I don't understand why American won't adopt the concept. It's hygienic and comfortable af
They talk exactly like I expected them to talk
I know what I'm listening to the next time I trip balls.
these guys are hilarious
srsly?
Matt is not wrong. It's his opinion. But I happen to agree with him.
i'd listen to 'baritone army' :)
I would. Comfortably.
Haha 1:20 wtf
Im in Japan right now and all the toilets are fcking amazing
Where did he get his glasses? I like them
Matt’s glasses are from Warby Parker they’re called ‘chamberlain.’
Respectable scientology answer.
i love you
Matt berninger looks like a mix between ed sheeran and jake gyllenhaal
I thought they would talk about death and stuff...
The last one hahah, slower and sadder.
this is such oversimplification of their character and music. The National = sad. yup, nailed it!
I enjoy these videos, but can we get a narrator to read what is being rated? For those of us who are only kind of half watching while we do something else?
If you're to be marooned on a desert island and you choose The National over The Police (if you have only those two choices) to listen to that truly truly truly is sad
whats the song at the end of this, save me going through all their albums? tho i am in need of doing that again..
never mind. its "Sea of Love". nice riff.
Those eyes at 1:20 freak me out
It's not about not liking shorts, it's about judging people for wearing a functional piece of clothing that keeps them cool. To say that men "should" were pants is ridiculous.
I didn't say he's an idiot for not liking Nicki Minaj, it's the fact that he labeled her as rap. Nicki Minaj is not rap, it's shitty radio pop. He is clearly dismissive of the whole genre just because of his perception of top 40 hip-hop.
Matt gives off a Robin Williamsy vibe
I don't get the grown men in shorts deal. Is that a thing that's kind of taboo?
dont worry, you're just stupid. it happens a lot.
+Nelson Betancourt i never heard of it either. Is it an American thing?
+Harry David 10 year olds should not play on the computer.
***** i'm american, men in shorts is not taboo to my knowledge.
***** upon further research, it seems to be an edgy, fake fashionista rule for people who want to seem more intelligent than they really are.
Didn't take long to spot the troll on this page - youtube the trolls paradise !!!
Burned that bridge
They're so fucking adorable, and finally someone agrees with my view of scientology!
And shit, I didn't even mention the Scientology thing.
The National? definitely OVER
none of us have ever listened to any rap music
Can anybody tell me the song that plays at the end?
+Nick Cummer sea of love by the national
+Reema Thanks!
Baritone army!
this is more interesting than any of their music
We don't look down on you. You just disgust us a little.
'We don't know rap'.
**facepalm**
+Sham Bolic ha.. so what ? I find it funny, and i relate tbh
since they are referring to nicki minaj how can you facepalm?
I relate to that. And most of their fans do.
I appreciate their answer.
Better than to denegrade something you are unfamiliar with. Though I think they are bit full of it, they seem to like 'Run The Jewels'. (Who doesn't?)
I think they honestly just didn't want to criticize a young musician when they realise they aren't in the target audience.
Sting can take it though, that's punching up and they apparently kinda know him.
Definitely under...
We don't know Rap
The Police overrated? Fuck me ! They were the most futuristic band that emerged from British post-punk/new wave movement in the late 70s.
You know, a lot of people (me included) would attest that The Police have created quite a canon of catchy pop melodies, snappy pseudo-punk rock songs and were incredibly unique by weaving a melange of different styles (pop, reggae, jazz-fusion, etc.) in just a few years time. If you only know "Every Breath You Take", you're really missing out...But I wouldn't expect any less than a dismissive, faux-intellectual deflection of them by a band so bogged down in the morass of their own dirge-like ineffectuality that they wouldn't know an up-tempo rock classic if it kicked them in the taint...
calm down Hitler
Muhammad Suleman I proffered reasons why I thought The Police should be held in higher regard and you equated me to one of the most evil megalomaniacs of the 20th century...
Seems about fair?...
Nice name dropping in the first question. All I needed to see to confirm what I already thought about them. They suck.
i didn't they they were american hmmm
lol so many salty comments hahahahaha
Love the National but the Police are underrated and Scientology is exponentially worse than the Catholic Church.
Shorts are ill.
"men should wear men's trousers". yes. thank you.
..., they're calling The Police overrated ??? At least I've just found a cure for insomnia ... zzzzzzzzz (cue tumbleweed sound) zzzzzzzzzz
absolutely overrated
Well, I don't know. Catholicism is more culturally familiar, but it's a pretty freaky form of ancient death cult mythology. A guy is born out of a deity-raped virgin? He's the only magical human being ever? He died and came back to life? He's gonna return to earth aaany day now to save "believers"? Can't believe people still buy this silly rubbish.
I find the Police comment offensive - National are great but no more so than the Police. I think it points out the singers insecurities more than anything else !!!
rythmosrythmos You are right; let's see if everyone remembers them within 20 years
+rythmosrythmos has nothing to do with the fact that the Police is overrated though
+rythmosrythmos It should have been Sting is overrated, but The Police were great. The singer comes off as pompous as Sting.
its opinion based, and 100% informal - calm down. saying you don't like something doesn't mean you're necessarily insecure. it might mean you're actually secure enough to say something is shit if you think its shit.

"We don't know rap"; you haven't missed anything!
this interview is almost as boring as the national's music.
meme
+Will Perrin If you think their music is boring, you have no emotional depth.
Why are you here???
People that wear pants - SO OVERRATED
The National - Very OVERRATED.
The National? definitely OVER
