If you know the medical, ACTUAL facts that the drug companies are hiding from people on purpose, you also understand why these drugs should never, ever prescribed to anyone, especially to children. Countless clinical studies have shown over and over again, how these ADHD and ADD-meds are directly comparable to harmful stimulant street drugs such as amphetamine and cocaine. These psychiatric stimulant drugs are as equally addictive, damaging and dangerous as those street drugs.
Prescription drugs are the 3rd highest cause of death in the western world. Pharmaceutical companies want as many people on these neurotoxins, as they possibly can. They come up with new, pseudo-scientific diagnoses all the time, so that they could manufacture more toxic drugs for people to consume. I suggest that you folks do your research on things, educate yourselves and stay the hell away from Barkley and his sort, who have taken money from the drug companies to promote their poisonous products. They are liars, and deceivers and total frauds.
Open your eyes! Do you want your children to be addicted to brain damaging stimulants? Do not as a parent allow these people to interfere with your lives, and destroy them. They rely on your ignorance, their careers depends on it. Let`s blow off the lid from their lies, and keep exposing them. They are not your friend, nor do they have your best interest in mind. These people are pure money-greedy scum. They seek to profit from your misery, this is a form of organized crime.
This man and like many others, has taken money from drug companies to promote neurotoxins as safe medicine, even for children. This has been proven. If I didn't know more about this man, I'd be astounded at the lies falling out of his mouth about these drugs. There are volumes of proof on the damage they cause, and no scientific data proving they do anything but damage the brain. And he promotes this for children! Astounding and completely immoral. The amount of children this man has damaged by lying about these drugs in collusion with their manufactures constitutes removal of his medical credentials in my opinion. Anyone who willfully poisons children for profit should not be allowed near them.

Basically i find myself with his ADHD behavioural description. I can protect myself somehow with ear plugs on my left ear. This makes me immune to a lot of outside noise and i fell more focused.
During childhood, i was hyperactive, also in school. In the office, there are a lot of conflicts, so i was diagnosed as social phobia.
I want to find out more about the work of Mr Barkley.

Barkley denies his own research that shows stimulants to make essentially no difference in children's academic performance. There have been other reviews by Swanson et. al. in 1993 and by Oregon State University in 2001 or so that showed the same thing. The OSU study showed no advantage in ANY long-term outcome for "treated" vs. "untreated" kids diagnosed with ADHD, including no difference in test scores, graduation rates, college enrollment, drug use, teen pregnancy rates, delinquency rates, employer satisfaction, social skills or even self esteem. This same result has been consistent for decades. Yet most people are completely unaware of this information, because the psychiatric profession finds it inconvenient. Other studies supporting this finding are the Raine study in Australia, the Quebec ADHD study, the Finish/USA comparison study, and the long-term results from the US MTA study. It is utterly delusional at this point to maintain that stimulants are critical for kids' success in school, yet Barkley and others make lots of money off this idea and continue to promote that stimulants are essential and that parents who fail to "treat" their "ADHD" kids with stimulants are being neglectful.

He blames ADHD for his brother dying in a car crash.
Actually his brother died of driving while intoxicated.
Technically he died of head trauma, he was intoxicated.
ADHD did NOT kill Barkley's brother like cancer kills a person. ADHD did not FORCE him to get behind the wheel after drinking.
I know Barkley likes to blame ADHD for his brother Ron's death even though the facts plainly show that this is not strictly an ADHD issue
He was drunk . . . The odds caught up with him. He'd been lucky for years. His luck run out.
In 2006 the same year as Ron Barkley's death
Drunk Driving Fatalities - National Statistics
there were 13,491 drunk driving fatalities in the U.S.
    Hardcore Drunk Drivers (National Statistics)
Compared with drivers who have not consumed alcohol, drivers with BACs of .15 or above are 380 times more likely to be involved in a single-vehicle fatal crash than a non-drinking driver.
Ron Barkley failed to navigate a turn, and hit an embankment, died of head trauma. Alcohol was a related factor and according to the stats above most likely the biggest factor.
Blaming ADHD for this man's death diminishes the larger problem of driving while intoxicated which not only causes harm to the intoxicated person but has killed innocent others. Ron Barkley did NOT die of ADHD related driving he died because he choose to DRINK AND DRIVE.
    Tragic but shit happens.

You missed the whole point just to grind the axe we all share with you about drunk driving. Why do some people have control over their decision to drink and others have less. If there is science that indicates an under developed cerebellum may be implicated that is worth exploring further so that we may art ourselves with knowledge that may reduce tragedies like drunk driving and many more.

The following numbers next to each country represent the daily divided dosage (DDD) on a per capita basis for each country. The number represents total usage for children and adults. Legal adult usage is restricted to the United States as the recognition of adult ADHD is pretty much limited to the U.S. and Canada. The second number compares the country’s usage to the U.S. with 1.00 being the American rate.
    United States 23.71
    1.00
    Iceland 17.39
    .73
    Canada 11.58
    .49
    Israel 9.01
    .38
If you think that is something to be proud of you are sick in the head. Canada's is high because it is next door to the USA and they only use half of what the States use. The reasons why the US are at the top is pharma. Increased skepticism of drug company sponsored research in Oz compared to U.S. - so much so that Australian government guidelines for the diagnosis of ADHD in children and the use of medication as a treatment were initially revised and then abandoned after complaints that much of the data used for the guidelines had come from Joseph Biederman’s team at Harvard (Biederman’s work has been comprised by conflict of interest scandals).

ADHD is a convenient label to excuse children for their bad behavior and parents for their lack of parenting. It is a symptom of the latest generation of adults that refuse to accept any responsibility for failure claiming it is always somebody else's fault or responsibility. ADHD was cured when I was a kid by a discipline. I never saw it as a kid.

I saw it all the time as a child and even now through symptoms such as poor working memory and emotional dysregulation. Compared to my peers, my short term memory is nowhere near as good as it should be and things that can annoy others could boil my blood. To hold back some of my emotional responses it feels like such a strain that it feels like a hole being burned into my head at times. Maybe 10% of children diagnosed with ADHD do go on to outgrow symptoms, sure, but don't let your survivorship bias convince you that this disorder doesn't have a spectrum of severity.

As a provider than cares for those with ADHD I can tell you that ADHD is very real and treatment is life changing. In healthcare we give the green light to treat DM2 with insulin, and teach dosing based on blood surgery at that moment (very similar to how ADHD patient's take their medications- when educated properly by the provider), we give ibuprofen for pain when studies show the damage NSAIDs and Tylenol have on the liver ...but not one eye batted. Yet you get on here and damn treatment for the brain, which like the liver and pancreas is also just an organ. However the brain is the organ that allows the human to download and deciphers data..something people with ADHD can't always do (some days better than others). Do you feel they should be tossed around mentally like rag dolls? Or live with anxiety and depression and be placed on SSRIs that make their symptoms worse, often to the point they can't function. Perhaps instead of criticizing someone's life work, or judging a medication that one has no clue why you have such a distaste for, I suggest you try talking to someone (an adult) with ADHD that takes a small dose of a stimulate find out how their life is changed. Please stop posting on this video with useless opinions. Thank you in advance.
