If you're new here welcome! My name is Laura Mullen Vermilye and I am an iron casting metal artist. Being a cast iron artist is an interesting - and at times tough journey, but the rewards far exceed all challenges. While working with cast iron to create my art I am exposed to an amazing community of artists who are as dedicated and passionate as I am. The cast iron art culture is a major influence in my life and on my work and I want to share this artistic adventure with anyone who is interested in seeing hard working people make amazing art with a hot and dangerous material. To do this, I make vlog style videos on this channel that chronicle the artwork that I am currently making and my journeys in Metalsmithing and iron casting. In between casting and metal art videos you may also see some behind the scenes footage of me roaming around the heart of the Midwest and the Ozarks. Thank you to all you folks that are as interested in my small metal project as you are in my cast iron art! Thanks for tunin' in, and as always - I love you.

Ok, learning techniques that can be applied to my machining hobby. I love your style, it is Laura's style as a maker. Humor, petite tool making and your videos are stamped with your style. Bravo and keep being joyous! Paul D.

Thanks for the video, fun as always. You may already know this, but in case someone doesn't, when you're using sharpie for layout, the black sharpie seems to streak and erase itself unless you manage to apply it very quickly, the blue sharpie behaves much better, I find it makes a much nicer layout fluid.

Is it my imagination, or have your torch skills had to grow during this project? I'm watching your torch feathering, and controlling the temperature in different parts of the... parts, and the different melting points... Maybe I wasn't paying attention until now, but it seemed like you up'ed your game.

I definitely can not solder as good as you?
I have a lot of small drills I got in auction, interested? You know me, it’s yours if you want them.

Okay, so... could you just make some stuff you enjoy and don't dread so much, over the course of the year, and then instead of a special build that totally stresses you out, you just pick one of those things you already have for the auction?
