I am sure you can sing. You have low self esteem. The terrible singers are the ones that think they are better than Mariah Carey Whitney houston and Michael Jackson
😢 I only knew about the scene part. I wasn't the biggest watcher of this show but I did enjoy it.... I always wanted to do some recordings of me doing a few songs and make it look like a whole band of Joels were up on stage.
The end of the episode is even sadder upon rematch. He wants those extra 45 days to spend with who we now know to be his dead wife. My wife gets choked up when we watch the episode where Robin’s mom shows up to the wedding after Ted starts tearing up.
My Uncle is Liberty DeVitto and I actually was able to see the real deal live early 84. The were SOOO GOOD!.. The only live video of it is from their London Concert of the Innocent Man tour and it was on the evening my cousin Torrey was born! If you get a chance, check out the video!
MiKe050992 I don't because I re-wacth it all the time! A shame they rushed season 9. They barely told any stories about the couple we waited 8 seasons for. But it is still one of my favorite shows along with Breaking Bad and others :).
Yeah me to, actually I'm already at season 9 again, oh and I agree with you about season 9. But when I say I'm gonna miss it, is that I'm not gonna excited for a new episode, or get to see new things happen to them :/
@@codandskate10 I don't know if "rushed" is the right word. The problem I have with season 9 is that the pacing feels off. Most of the time is spent during the few days before that wedding, inside the same building, and then they go through the "afterlife" in a relatively short time. From what I understand, the creators initially wanted the final to be a triple episode but for some reason had to cut it into a double episode instead. :( A few of the deleted scenes are on UA-cam though and watching them helps understanding the true meaning behind the ending imo - especially the restaurant scene.
It’s also pretty sad. It shows how Ted is getting left behind while two of his friends are married and have a kid and another is marrying the girl he’s in love with.
I love this moment for the harmonies. The fact that they re recorded the 3 parts perfectly and had the 6 parts all overlap in perfect timing was beautiful. And because it was 2 voices in 6 parts they blended perfectly. This tiny part of the scene was amazing.
Imagine Billy doing the original ALL BY HIMSELF! Literally every sound on the recording in Billy. All the Harmonies, all the background sounds and bass.
agoss16 i don't know, i just heard in interview on CBS show called "The Talk" of the HIMYM cast and the guy that plays as ted said this but didn't state which musicals though
time machines will never happen if they did then people would travel back in time to visit their ancestors, help win old wars, or if they did exist they would only be for a select few
NarutoJoeyYugi thats wrong, because like most people, you assume time is a strict progressen from cause to a fact, but actually from a non linear, non subjective point of view its more like a ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff
This show really puts life in perspective for me. For instance, it feels like a lifetime ago that I got into Doctor Who. I got into it in high school. I liked HIMYM starting years before that. Its a fun thing to track now that NPH is gonna be in the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who. But this song has characters reminiscence on 20 years ago. Despite feeling so much experience in my lifetime, there’s only been half of that, 10 years, since I first loved Doctor Who. I’m only as old as Ted in the first season or 2. Life will continue despite all the experiences. The years keep coming and they won’t stop coming.
I'm older than you are, but this comment made me think of what all has happened in my life in the past 20 years. It's been a wild ride so far, and so much has changed. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for writing this comment and making me think of life.
I went to this dueling piano bar the other day. Four of the male pianists sang this, but added lyrics to it. I wish I recorded it with my phone. They even went into the men's room & did a stanza about a guy who was taking a piss. Hilarious!
Since Barney has waited for this for 20 years, basically after this happened, the present day Barney was like "I can't wait to come back from the future to do this with past Barney."
i haven’t watched this probably in years. someone used a brief sound clip in a video and half the lyrics gradually came back to me. had to find this, it came back to me as I was watching, and I mouthed along almost perfectly 🤯
This was the creators saying goodbye to the show despite the fact that they could do more with it ........" there'd still be music left to write". All things must come to an end even the good things.
it's a great ending to what is probably one of the saddest episodes in the entire series (especially on subsequent watches). Really lights up the mood.
"I've been waiting twenty years for this." I suppose you could say he'd been waiting... for the longest time.
🙂🙂
My hats off to you sir. That's pretty clever. That's pretty good 😎😎
Sick
highest of fives!
It was legend-wait 20 years for it-dary... Legendary!
"Look around Ted... you're all alone."
The way Barney delivers this line is devastating to the soul.
That fucking Line man. That line just hits.
right? giving Spec Ops: The Line vibes
It hurt
Neil Patrick Harris is such an amazing actor
Devastating is an understatement 😹😹😹
Can't wait to clone myself twice... only to remember that none of me can sing.
Aaaand singing in a group hides how bad you are. That's how i got away with it for a while
Andrea Dheah
hahaha same, either that or I wasnt the bad one in the group 0_o
Actually, this isn't a result of clones, it's from time travel. Maybe in 20 years you'll have learned to sing!
I am sure you can sing. You have low self esteem. The terrible singers are the ones that think they are better than Mariah Carey Whitney houston and Michael Jackson
it's so beautiful but makes me sad at the same time... after all this was just Ted's imagination, the whole episode was. ah the melancholy
I cry every time that I see this episode
Same the ending of this episode breaks my heart 💔
Yeap this episode is the best episode of the series
Still must’ve been fun for them to do the scene tho :)
😢 I only knew about the scene part. I wasn't the biggest watcher of this show but I did enjoy it.... I always wanted to do some recordings of me doing a few songs and make it look like a whole band of Joels were up on stage.
thats actually so impressive. the timing with the multiple recordings and the perfect harmonies. DAYUM
Its actually really easy. Many people have already done multitrack acapella's before.
@@SiamAMusic Doesn't mean it's not impressive

... The vocals are recorded in a music studio beforehand, then they just lipsync afterwards. Not that complicated.
@@tredoffer exacto
They should release a full song of this

I can't hear anything but Darren when i hear "stay-" followed by something.
I knew that Neil have a amazing singing voice but Josh Radnor totally surprised me
He actually writes sings
He is a pro musician, actually. Check his music. Good stuff.
he's on spotify and has new songs this year
my memory could be off, but next to marshal's dad dying, the ending of this episode probably hit me the hardest with the feelings
I weirdly get misty eyes everytime i watch this..reminds me of my old friends..the ones ill never see again and i wish i spent more time with.
Oh I cry every time I watch the ending to that episode
The last part of this episode was some of best acting works i have ever seen.
orpheusentertainment i agree it got to me big time

I literally can't stop watching this lol
It's gotta be my favourite part :)
@@Sam-sr9zq ohhhh but it’s so sad
NPH’s little head+hand gesture before the high “tiiiiiiime” at the beginning was pure GOLD
as well as ted's low baritone "for the longest" during the intro
The head tilt on inSPIred is great too
Barney's voice :o
Well Neil Patrick Harris is Mr.Brodway so he should sing good :)
Fun fact: I fangirled when they performed this. Like...my boyfriend couldn't stop laughing as I watched this.

HIMYF !
I don't known if it's an unpopular opinion or not, but Time Travelers is my favourite HIMYM episode, and this song is a perfect way to end it.
5 years late but I totally agree!!! One of my favourite episodes of any show :)

I wish NPH and Josh Radnor recorded this; their voices sync so well!
THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS, THE HARMONIES WERE ALL I WAS THINKING OF
They should definitely create an album. I mean, did you hear Barney hit those high notes! Absolutely sublime.
They could not only act, but also sing xD Love this xD
oh yea, before HIMYN the actors of ted and barney sung in a few musicals together
***** which one?
agoss16 i don't know, i just heard in interview on CBS show called "The Talk" of the HIMYM cast and the guy that plays as ted said this but didn't state which musicals though
i've been searching that interview and I can't find it.. do you have the link?
agoss16 I think it was a play called "the paris letter" and they played a gay couple or something like that :) but it wasn't a musical...
I can't stop replaying this.
STOP RIGHT NOW
That episode might be the single most depressing episodes of HIMYM along with the one where Marshall’s dad dies and the finale
Their Harmony's are perfect. It's amazing that Josh and Neil could harmonize between the different versions of themselves.
there voices go so well 2gether, they should do more songs, it would be awesome
Don’t you mean it would be legen…..wait for it…..dary?

Me: "ok, one more time"
The original is way better. But props to them for recording this.
I wish they'd done a full version of this
This performance is legen- wait for it…

That last line when Barney says. "You're all alone"....in the end he is happy and surrounded by loved ones.
Randomly thought of this scene and had to watch it immediately! Nostalgic af!
He's really good as toymaker in doctor who the giggles
To me he will always be NPH… (Harold & Kumar) 😉
I know Neil is fantastic, but I really don't think Josh gets enough recognition for his voice
Damn it, why can't this be longer.
thats what she said lol
I'd kill for a full version of this.
It's amazing, one's a folk singer and one's a Broadway legend.
