loona/bbc's main choreographer is a man with amazing "feminine" moves but also very strong "masculine" moves. i think that's where that diversity in loona's choreographies comes from

Yeah, this cover is so great. Loona introduced me to the song, so I kinda associate it to them more than got7 which is weird and honestly kinda wrong, but it is what it is because I'm an orbit after all.
you should dig more LOONA'S dance practices or performances and go react to them!🤘🙂
The level changes was a little nuts in this one. Olivia Hye (the one who jumps.over yves) actually during one of the weekend shows ended up with a bloody knee on stage

Loona is incredible, one of the things ive noticed watching their dance practices is how their practice room floor is divided in equal square sections, and i think this is why theyre so good with blocking and spacing, because theyre able to measure using the squares/lines and see exactly where everyone should be standing at any point in the dance!
That's mostly right. It would certainly be a lot harder to be so precise with positioning without it that way. However there is also a relentless pursuit of perfection in the practice room that you don't see happening in all the days leading up to their filming. Idol work ethic is already out of this world and LOONA's is absurd even among them (and there are very good even romantic reasons for that, watch "the inconstant moon" here on youtube if you wish to understand why a bit better).
Loona choreo really something else.. masculine, thats the word! For me, from wht i can see, loona choreo always mixed the feminine n masculine moves into their choreo..

i think that one of the most underrated and underappreciated loona cover is got7's eclipse its the last cover they made before so what it would be great if you could react to it
Just to emphasize on Olivia Hye's part, "Like a wolf to the moon!" is also lore because her representative animal is a wolf 🐺
Them and IZ*ONE (rest in peace and power) are the 2 best female kpop groups in terms of dancing imo... all of their choreos and energy and synchronization power are just amazing. Their large number also makes it more epic while dancing while doing those intricate but beautiful imageries....Yeah same as you, i also have a thing for large numbered girl groups

apparently the choreography usually does boy group dances, so when there was any empty space the choreographer wanted to add more cause they thought it would be boring

You are right, *STAN LOONA*
Izone and loona shared the same strengths when it comes to incorporating their huge numbers to form beautiful images or plateaus and also synchronicity. But they also differ with their types of dancing style i guess (?). Izone shows more arm movement or the conventional gg choreo with lovely lines and fluidity. Loona shows more dynamic when it comes to choreography adding hiphop here and there and more muscle contraction movements which were usually found in bg choreography. Essentially, they're two sides of the same coin, the coin being my ult ggs.

You gotta watch their dance practice for Satellite. It's one of their best bsides imo and the choreo is immaculate 🤩
Elliot simping over LOONA and IZ*ONE is like pretty much the story of my life. Lol
For this dance loona has 2 choreographers, their usual choreographer is male(but can really do feminine dances) and from what i remember he got a help with a female choreographer for this too. additional to this the girls especially choerry helps with transitions and formations and some choreos.
also a member also said that when creating their choreo it cant be just one person moving from formation to formation even if its just one person singing the line
i mean imo you can literally do any of it like ANY of it and you'd prolly have 15+mins of breaking it down i maaaaaayyyy be a "bit" biased but truly their choreographers make it a point to make the dance look very detail oriented i mean they even throw in call backs to old choreos perfect example is kim lip doing her eclipse(her debut solo) killing point but if we talking specifics the dance practices in their XX album like satellite or colors are pretty wild on the note of their choreo seeming "masculine" its because their choreographer(at least a couple) is a dude and loona IS famous for doing(and doing them insanely well) boy group covers

I'm glad you pointed put the masculinity in their movements. I don't know if it's on purpose because a lot of the members have naturally masculine or like neutral energy.. it's actually more than I'd initially thought but I've just realized that when theyre not doing traditionally 'cute' or 'feminine' choreo they slide very easily into the default or neutral way of executing movements (meaning they don't choose to put emphasis on like curves or body line) Even when they did butterfly which was a more 'feminine' sound, they still managed to just make it sort of neutral. It's very appealing and impressive if you think about how it's a very easy binary to get locked into.
Oh they do a lot of boy group covers,, maybe more than they've actually shown us. Maybe that has helped them incorporate the two energies.. either way it's like perfect
