Just a heads up. You said at 10:17 that you to put 1.9 quarts in. It's actually 1.1 quart or 1 liter. If you put 1.9 in you'll need to drain some oil out.
I changed my oil but I found the copper washer and the bottom of the waist oil, it appears not to be leaking right now and I am going to change it out again in 2 or 3 days and put the washer back on, does not appear to be leaking right now would it be okay for 2 or 3 days till I change it again and then I can put the washer back on then, thoughts?
I live in rockport and i fish alot. I fish on a kayak but now i just bought me a 14ft SeaArk and im making it into a bass boat for salt water and im looking to get a outboard motor for it cuz i had a 18 hp motor and now it not working so now im looking to get a new one but i would hope to see you out on the water.
Thanks for the vid man. Do you know what the torque spec is for the oil filter cover bolts? Also, at 12:35 when you pull start it you start with a slow short pull. Is this to activate the decompression system? Have you ever pulled it over and have it compression lock?
The reason i went with Suzuki was the EFI. No more carbs for me...EVER. Secondly, not all manufacturers offer both pull start and electric start on a motor. No way am i buying just an electric start motor. If you drain your battery or short out your battery...you are so screwed. Yammys and Hondas don't offer both options on the same engine when i was looking for my 9.9 hp 4 stroke....nice video 4.26
Great point. I'm not mechanically inclined, and having efi has been amazing. I love our 20hp suzuki. Has had no issues what so ever. And like you said if the electric start ever goes out, we got pull start
I actually came from a Mercury. It was a good strong motor. However it was always leaving me stranded. And found it to be in the shop more then the water. Could have just been that particular motor. But when I sold it did lots of research and found more ppl repowing with Suzuki. Made the switch and it has performed flawlessly. Hope this helps on your decision. Not bashing Mercury at all. Just my personal experience with it thanks for the comment 🙏
I'm shopping for a 9.9 and have done a ton of research. It seems that Suz and Yamaha are the way to go and Honda in the small motors are a close second as far as reliability. If you want performance/speed, then it would be a Merc
You really need to fix the error you made (verbally) about the amount of oil to put in. That label shows: 1.0L (1.1/0.9US/Imp.qt.) which is fairly confusing (shame on Suzuki). the 1.0L is for 1 liter (a metric measure). The parenthetical part is for US imperial measure and shows (I think) from 1.1quarts to .9quarts. It would seem more sensical to just say 1 quart. 1 Liter = 1.057 Quarts or a hair over 1 quart. Why they confuse it with giving a high maxixmum / low minimum is beyond me. We buy our oil in quarts so this is easy. One (1) quart should be just fine. [1.9 quarts would cause trouble -- most motors don't do well at all with an overfill. Just sayin'.]

I saw that also. He put nearly twice the amount of oil that should be in that engine.
You didn’t mention anything about replacing the large and small gaskets with the oil filter.
Nice skimmer man! I’ve got a 14.6 in Houston area.
Thanks bud!!! Really enjoying the skiff. This is my first one. I’m always willing to travel, fish new waters and meet new people. Hit me up
thanks bro

Why did you go with Suzuki than other brands? I’m deciding between Suzuki and Mercury. Thank

partner could you confirm the part number is the oil oil filter you use, or put a photo of the filter box please
Hey do you know what gear oil your motor gets cause I have the same motor and I don’t know help me thanks
Sae 90 gear oil. I buy the stuff suzuki makes. Should be easy to find.
They sell maintenance kits also.

Was that oil full synthetic, or is it not recommended ?
My owners manual does not reference synthetic oil. It does say to use Suzuki oil which is a Semi Synthetic oil.
Nice video keep it up buddy now follow ya boy back
Steve
Looks like a pain in the ass...Glad I bought a mercury.
John your merc will be a boat anchor first.
