Hey guys! Let’s get John to 50K in time for Christmas. If you’re watching, please subscribe. It’s free - and his metal-detecting videos are so full of great finds and related history.
Definitely a pre-1860 Victorian copper (not bronze) penny, with the date under her head. Under Britannia floral symbols of Scotland, England, and Ireland.
My Dad recently gave me a coin (George IV) of his which as the 'squiggle' at the bottom which I actually found out was a clover, rose & thistle. Great finds guys!!
I remember, in 1969, getting a pint of scrumpy cider for 8 old pence, in a pub in Wales. You could get drunk cheaply in the days. A packet of cigarettes was under 2 shillings (10p). A bag of chips was about 6 old pence. You could have a good night out for 10 shillings (50p).
Always a great honor to see a master Bendy Thumbster at work. I’ve tried myself, even hired a so called “Master of the Bendy Thumb” to teach me….I just can’t get that alternating thumb “ Left thumb down, Right thumb up” The master told me not to give up. I even spent a considerable amount of money on a 10 video tape instruction series. I can’t thank you enough John, allowing us to watch your thumbs at work. Truly amazing.
Not sure if it was a saying..but my dad calls the first coin a wooden thrupnie...as its not the silver one..👍🏻🏴 mate your channel is first class love the vids..ara best fae Melbourne....born in Glesga..❤
Another couple of guesses on that long, thin "broach"...... A tie clasp? A hair clip? Not seeing any working parts on the back, makes it difficult. John, I love your videos, I've been watching since you had 11K viewers. Oh, thanks for making the whiplash sound when you pull out the Foo.
I love to watch your videos with so much information. I found your videos and you dug up a bucket handle holder of a stag head. I have been enjoying your videos since. Thank you
Great day for John and Albert so many coins and as an old wrinkley I can remember spending most of them even the little farthing. Thanks again John for the history of the bombings that occurred in Scotland which was news to me, do you know when it was brought to light ? It was never taught in schools in my time😢.
Rolled gold is karat gold like 12k or 1/12 of 10k something like that...way better than gold plated. Good find! Refined it gets on average 3% yield of pure gold.
John, here in the US we were not taught a lot of the details of WW2. I didn’t know that Scotland was bombed. Can you recommend a good book to help educate me on the subject? My father was in Scotland during the war. He was a merchant seaman doing convoy duty.
My grandad went up to Scotland in 1939, they took over Norway in the winter. The Germans built up their forces and took it back in the spring of 1940 causing a Dunkirk-esque dash back to Scotland. My grandads mate got injured so he helped hide him in a cellar where they were caught. They spent the rest of the war as POWs in one of the work camps attached to Stalag IVa near Dresden.

the big Victoria coin is the old style penny prior to 1860, dated inbetween 1841 - 1859, I’ve found a few of them over here in Australia

Unknown coin is Victoria, ‘Medusa type’ Penny, 1847
The large copper Victorian coin looks like an early penny, 1837-1859. The design changed to the smaller, more familiar penny from 1860.
Dead right Sir.
Good one John and Thank you Albert for letting us all come along. Awesome day and great finds Thanks for the Video.
As promised a brilliant coin filled dig oh and a ring and as ever silver!! 🤩 Why does Albert hide away when he deserves fame 🤣 👏👏👏
Not everyone enjoys the limelight.
As a Guy says also later on in the chat, the large copper coin is a penny from 1837-1859. Cheers, John.

At 22:30 the coin is a pre 1850 penny. The early Victorians and William IV were larger. Along the size on the 1806/1807 George III issues
Good evening. I did enjoy the last episode. :)
Does Albert take lucky pills each day?? 😂
Great day for John and Albert so many coins and as an old wrinkley I can remember spending most of them even the little farthing.

I'm inspired in Western New York. Wish me luck gonna go out first thing in the morning. Great job on the silvers!
Albert is kicking your butt in that field! You better step up your game or he will vacuum up all of them lol
Albert’s permission must be an old location for the bank of Scotland! 🏴
Nicola White was using an electric toothbrush and water on her coins today. Wild? 😮
On it john 😂💪🏴🏴🏴
What on earth was going on there, that there were so many coins lost? Great video, John, love all the history facts!
What went on in that field to produce so many coins?
Thinking exactly the same.

Hi John the design and size of the penny and halfpenny was copied from the contemporary French Napoleon the 3rd coins .
Lovely job son
Commenting to get the algorithm moving! 🎉🎉

That's an old penny, they were thicker and heavier. Probably young Victoria
John it's a early queen Victoria penny
22:54 looks like toy money
Which settings is Albert using?
Ship ha'penny was always my favourite coin. But you were rich if you had a couple of half crowns 😅😅😊
I found identical coin to yours, thought it was a half crown but no half crowns had Britania on the reverse, turns out is was a counterfeit.
Follow Albert! Lol😂❤

My Aunty Betty was a cook on a US merchant ship assigned to minesweeping during WW2.
So what is Albert using to detect?
Do you have any fingerprints left on your thumbs?

Looking forward to this!
Is there a limited amount of licenses issued for detectorists?
You don’t need a license, just permission from the landowner.
A Scottish shilling. Never seen you dig an English one.
Good day John, Looks like a woman's hair clasp.
Hunt the gold
It’s a trade dollar
23:00 mark, trade dollar I believe
