I’ve been enjoying theses videos because I am married to an American Italian and enjoy eating Italian food. We have Panettone here but most people I know don’t like it because of the candied fruit but it’s my favorite! I love it toasted slightly and served with butter. It’s sort of a light version of fruit cake but with the bread texture of a Portuguese sweet bread! ‘Ono!

It was so cool to see Eva cook that, in Argentina we have a similar dessert for christmas "Pan dulce" but I think it is a much more simplified recipe, though the end result is very much alike 😄
We make Italian bread cookies and the recipe is pretty close but less sugar and more eggs and we add extracts like vanilla and anise. Also we make the cookies thick and twist them into knots or candy canes with no sprinkles or icing. Sometimes we do out icing and sugar for the kids but the adults like them plain to dip in their cappuccino. You need to toast the panettone and put butter on it. So yummy
Remember, Harper: you get to claim ANY dessert that starts, ends, or has a middle part, of chocolate... winner, winner, chicken dinner!!! and there has to be at least one maple sugar Christmas treat you can claim. cranberries, pecans... what you really need is to come up with a story about why the dessert was created - what it symbolizes or means to the culture or your family ie. we use these colors because, we use this shape because, we use this flavor because...
Chocolate cream pie with meringue has always been my family’s Christmas desert. It’s the only time my mother would make it. We’d have store bought panettone as well, but never those fugly Christmas cookies Harper made, mom was strictly a buckeyes woman.

Frangos (chocolate truffles) and Brown and Haley Almond Roca are all American Christmas time treats! Almond Roca is definitely more popular on the West Coast though around the Holidays.
Pizza Grana
- Both my paternal great-grandmother (Christmas) and my maternal great grandfather (Christmas Eve) made it.
- And then both my grandmothers made it.
- And then my mom made it.
But now, my sister and I don't know how to make it.
Oh please Obi-Wan Eva, you are our only hope. Show us how to make pizza grana.
I will just because of Obi-Wan Eva!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️😂😂
what is pizza grana?
I’ve been enjoying theses videos because I am married to an American Italian and enjoy eating Italian food. We have Panettone here but most people I know don’t like it because of the candied fruit but it’s my favorite! I love it toasted slightly and served with butter. It’s sort of a light version of fruit cake but with the bread texture of a Portuguese sweet bread! ‘Ono!
Eva in Peru is very traditional the panettone, Feliz Navidad a los dos!
i saw it in tv here in italy! can i ask you why?
is there a story behind this? i'm so curious about it!
cheers from italy! oh, and by the way, ceviche is amazing
@@albertobuti382 It is because of the Italian immigration of the early 20th century, Peruvian food is influenced by Italian cuisine
“Bravo” and a kiss on the cheek from, Eva = Heaven!
Love Eva she reminds me of my mum no food was good enough other then home cooked food.
Harper, America and us are lucky to have Eva with us.
Harper: Do you leave cookies for Santa in Italy?
Eva: *flashbacks of the Befana* ...no
hahahahahahahaa
I grew up in Brazil eating Panettone fot Christmas desert. I love it so much.
So yummy
Well done Eva, it’s look like a real artigianal Panettone 😱
So glad this popped up in my YT feed. 🎄💖 Pasta Grammer. Happy Holidays.
OMG 😱 Eva can do it all! What an amazing cook, baker, everything- Harper is very lucky 😉
That girl can cook!!!!! Love watching them🎄😘
Remember, Harper: you get to claim ANY dessert that starts, ends, or has a middle part, of chocolate...
winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!
and there has to be at least one maple sugar Christmas treat you can claim. cranberries, pecans...
what you really need is to come up with a story about why the dessert was created - what it symbolizes or means to the culture or your family ie. we use these colors because, we use this shape because, we use this flavor because...
Chocolate cream pie with meringue has always been my family’s Christmas desert. It’s the only time my mother would make it. We’d have store bought panettone as well, but never those fugly Christmas cookies Harper made, mom was strictly a buckeyes woman.
Incredibile come un dolce natalizio così famoso e diffuso in Italia sia così difficile da fare!
Eva ti sei davvero superata stavolta...fantastica!!!
Complimenti per la tenacia e la dedizione che metti in tutto quello che fai e complimenti ad Harper per l'appoggio che ti dà!
Grazie mille!!!
I love you guys! Absolutely an amazing channel. Keep up the great work and please keep cooking. 🍳
Thank you and we will!!!
Fare il panettone in casa è una delle cose più difficili che possano esserci, Eva tu sei uno chef!
Grazie mille!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
From Italy I’ve re-watched harper’s reaction with his first bite thousand times and every time I cry... love u Americans .. we are best friends countries 💙🤗🤗🤗
I introduced my Italian family to American style fruitcake (which I make myself) and they were pleased, but it’s all dried fruits, rhum, flour and nuts.... almost no added sugar so it’s not overly sweet. Over all though, the Italian Christmas desserts are *chefs kiss* divine
"A Christmas Wedding"
Perfect name for that cake!!
I first had it in Switzerland and now I send it to my sons every Christmas. (30 years!!) I tried making it and nnnnnnooo! You go Ava!!!
Simple names work best. "Christmas Cake" I can't wait to try some.
Ciao a tutti e buon anno da Montreal Canada.
Thank you Harper and Eva for these amazing videos. Watching your videos has brought me back into the kitchen and motivated me to get back to my passion for cooking & baking and making things from scratch. It feels like I am channeling my nonna. Thank you.
As for the cake name, I can't help but get "Pereva" out of my head (Harper & Eva together) I kind of think a "Pereva" cake sounds nice. A gift from the two of you, representative of the best of you both.
Anyways, ciao, and all the best.
The dessert should be called Panetteva! Looks amazing 🤤
"So you not going to like it?" 😂 Last famous words before asking for the separation. 😂 Eva, siete spettacolari!
My mom has a lievito madre who is as young as me, she preparas pizza, pandoro panettone ecc. It's amazing
Obviously she remix it every time she needs to prepare something with it
Ovviamente lei lo reinpasta ogni volta che deve preparare qualcosa
@Pasta Grammar - I think your channel is my top UA-cam find of 2020. Love every episode. Merry Christmas!
I see Italians know the "side eye" too. "They're not too bad." as Eva nods but gives Harper the side eye "Are you kidding?"
Complimenti, non avevo mai visto nessuno fare il panettone a casa!!!
A+ for incorporating Pee Wee Herman in this video.
And also appearing with peewee Christmas show was my favorite Italian ( sorry Ava, but you come in second😘) the late great Annette funicello😍
Incredibile Eva! Tutto quello che fai è sempre perfetto. Questo panettone fatto in casa è strepitoso, complimenti!
Grazie!!!
I hope Eva is enjoying the Maine winter! And by enjoying, I mean wrapped up in a blanket in front of the fire with a cappuccino while Harper does all the shovelling and de-icing.
Share the work. Don't be lazy lol
Good job! Eva: You are showing fantastic restraint with Harper, who is ignorant of any things food (as a lot of 'Americans are - that includes me!). Harper: Keep encouraging her to explore - the fact you are also enjoying the journey with her is priceless. I enjoy your vids!
I love Panettone. It is actually an Italian type of sweet bread and a cake all in one.
Your new dessert looks delish. I had something similar, it was a Panettone bread pudding. But I must say yours looks and must taste a lot better. 🤤
@Butch C Pannetone bread pudding sounds amazing!
@@sallyalexander8625 then you should try Panettone French Toast 😃 it’s great
The only time I've tried a panettone, I chucked it. It was dry as sin. You have any suggestions like a brand or something to try?
@@skyydancer67 Pannetone is somewhat dry, it is a sweet bread, it’s not a moist cake. Always check the date, since this is mostly around during the holidays, maybe you got an older one if was really dry. Also there are many different brands sold in different areas, I’ve never really had a bad one. The better ones are from Italy and some are from Brazil.
Our tradition was making scalidi and turdelli for Christmas. My grandma would spend days making them. Good memories
