Hey Matt, the regen on the Zoe is variable as they have used the brake pedal pressure which is a brake-by-wire setup to increase the regen and can be seen by the 2 blue bars in the dash. As you coast, it is the minimal regen you feel (like a fossil car), going down hill it gets more aggressive, and will show on the blue bars. As you then press the brake, it will increase the regen, only when the two blue bars are full is when the actual brakes pads are applied. This explains why when servicing the car, it takes 2x as long to bleed the brakes, as the remote hydraulic cylinder acts separately from the brake pedal. Unlike the i3 or Tesla that use the accelerator pedal to control the regen, Renault Engineers thought it best for drivers to use the brake pedal like a fossil fuel Automatic car. Additionally, below 11mph, regen is not used, the brake pads are being used. To get the most regen out of the car for efficient driving, good anticipation and not maxing out the blue bars when coming to a stop gets you the most range. Hope that helps :)

An excellent video! We’ve not had my wife’s 2015 Zoe very long and it was much easier to show her this video than me trying to explain things, (as she hates trying to wade through the handbook) and there was a load of stuff we’d never heard of. The brake regen explanation we found very good and will try it out on our next outing; same with the locking system, dead simple after your demonstration. Well done, keep it!

Superb info. Arguably the Renault ZOE ZE40 is the first EV that is a fully usable family car that can replace an ICE vehicle due to its 160 to 185 mile range and fantastic spec and roomy interior and boot given the external dimensions of the car

Included things that a dealer didn't know like changing the pedestrian warning sound. It would have been worth covering opening the rear doors as that was a complete mystery until I downloaded the car manual. A very good video and I learnt a lot. Thank you.

Another great informative video. On our ZOE ZE40 2018 as soon as you 'ease off'' the accelerator (not even fully temove your foot) the display shows regen into the battery into blue zone and rising white ring on battery symbol,, let alone touching the brakes

Great video including things I didn't know I didn't know even after two years ownership!
You maybe missed " must be in park" in the 'start up' run down?
    Amazing dexterity as ever !

Thanks John. Yes, missed the Park thing. Probably lots of other things too. I did rather rush this one as I was about to deliver that Zoe yesterday and realised I hadn't made a beginners guide Zoe yet. I had been meaning to do this for the last 3 years!

Great video, useful tips and advise, do you know of a good smartphone holder for the Zoe ?

Thank you. After 3 years of having a Zoe as my own personal car, I've not used a holder. In other vehicles, I've used Brodit mounts and holders.
