Loved the period between 1983 and 1989, not listening to much else except New Order. Saw them at Wolves Civic, NEC and the Tower Ballroom in Birmingham during this time. The one in Brum was the infamous gig where they did a 40 minute encore to the cleaner and a music journo.
Still gutted to this day that we left when the lights went on - they were reportedly exceptional after everybody left.

I thought there'd be loads of comments about Barney and Hooky swapping instruments at the beginning! Never thought I'd see Barney with a bass and Hooky with a humble 6 string guitar! Interesting. Also I like seeing Gillian on guitar. It's interesting to see how they play(ed) the songs live. Thanks for sharing. 😊

They swapped guitar/bass every time they played Confusion back in those times [seen them play live dozens of times since the 80's]. Hooky couldn't do the bass slapping thing necessary for Confusion. Jezz Kerr from ACR attempted to teach him once, but Hooky couldn't master it.

in 1985 i had a mini clubman estate 1100 and danced to this and drove to scarborough pissed up with 3 mates and ran round the castle walls an hour after sunrise in june
