GaoGaiGo is made for the sake of battling Bionet - which still exists at this point, and to aide in the technological advancements to save Old GGG, by the new GGG. However, a new threat which corrupts the form and mind of beings similar to Zonder metal appears, and Genesic GaoGaiGar appears, blazing in the sky as an extension of Jupiter's THE POWER. Now with the occasional aide of the Betterman, the new GGG, lead by Akamatsu from Betterman and Wong from the Chinese GGG branch (Season 2), must contend with fighting the Hakai-Oh Genesic, Algernon, and... the Old GGG!?

@@katomamundara8106 there's a fan translation of the light novel, and lemme tell 'ya, it's a little disappointing at some point because it feels like it's re-treading grounds FINAL set, and feels against the general theme GaoGaiGar in general set what with all the doom and gloom. Now, there's a point where it implies that it'll get better, and that things aren't as bleak as it seems, but I'll believe it when I see it, because unlike the other installments to the series, this one _starts out_ bleak.
@@aliesterus1.023 Have read some of the manga but not the novel yet since I just found out Project Z actually went somewhere (I was around when the concepts were floating around the internet, with no hope of seeing any of the story written, drawn or animated since Sunrise's studio behind GGG was shut down), but I'd say that what you're seeing is a consequence of tying GGG with Betterman. GaoGaiGar had the benefit of a protagonist that could overcome anything through courage (Guy) and a problem that had a straightforward solution (zonderization and purifying the 31 primevals). The moment you throw in Lamia and his ilk, not to mention Algernon, shit starts getting complicated, not to mention dark.
@@Y.Moroboshi I'd rather say using the Dividing Driver to increase the distance between himself and a projectile, tearing apart space and time to escape a looped space, using the Dividing Driver as a personalized bubble of space to avoid being crushed by water pressure is not straightforward at all. Major spoilers ahead, just a heads up. Early on you see that the Zonders have a problem with GaoGaiGar's overwhelming strength, so ended up having to fight just a tad smarter, putting GaoGaiGar in either unfavorable circumstances, outlandish circumstances, or both. Meanwhile, what I've read in the novel, I actually don't mind the Better man side. It's _everything_ from the GaoGaiGar side I have a problem with. If you wish not to be spoiled, don't read past this point. At some point we get Two back... Yay! However, Genesic is indeed that giant thing you can see in the sky, and it's compressing Jupiter into a black hole. Why? Because evil energies took over the entire GGG crew. So they fight GaoGaiGar... And Gai attempts to Hell and Heaven Galeon's black box to save it... But fails to, since apparently the evil energies in control of Genesic is too strong, and apparently Galeon only has just enough strength to roar and force distance between Gai and GaoGaiGar, before it explodes and dies. My problem with this is two-fold. Remember how the narrator of FINAL says how they "struggled greatly for this inheritance"? GaoGaiGar dying here trivializes the time and effort they spent to finally reach GaoGaiGar, and feels like a cheap attempt at shock value. If he is in fact _not dead,_ then that means they'll have to complete an ordeal to get him back. This re-treads grounds of not only the struggle to obtain Genesic and get an old friend back, but is kind of a re-skinned version of what happened with the Fake Mamoru and Fake Galeon. Except, this time it isn't just one or two characters, they have to re-convert _the entirety of the original GGG cast_ who aren't the kids. The point I left off on iirc had a fight with King JDer, where I'm pretty sure I remember everyone losing and dying, except apparently not, because possibly time shenanigans. If they are trying a yanking back and forth of battlefield advantage, not only was this already done in FINAL, it's far too early to attempt such a thing. I'll have to read further to see what happens, but I'm not impressed with what I've seen so far.

But the fact, that because of my mom made me know gaogaigar series is can't deny it. That day until now is more than 10 year for me. The exciting when I first watch FINAL FUSION, GOLDION HAMMER and HELL AND HEAVEN scene.......I never forget it. It's really.....one of my precious memories. I really hope sunrise will pay attention to super robot series more. In present, look like it's all of Gundam Gundam and Gundam. They were going to do an animated sequel/betterman crossover back in like, the late nineties after FINAL, but failed to get it greenlit. Now there's a novel covering those events.
I think if anything they should have said "Ga Ga Ga Going GaoGaiGar" or something like that in the middle to match what they did with GaoFighGar for FINAL.

Early on you see that the Zonders have a problem with GaoGaiGar's overwhelming strength, so ended up having to fight just a tad smarter, putting GaoGaiGar in either unfavorable circumstances, outlandish circumstances, or both.
Meanwhile, what I've read in the novel, I actually don't mind the Better man side. It's _everything_ from the GaoGaiGar side I have a problem with. If you wish not to be spoiled, don't read past this point.
At some point we get Two back... Yay! However, Genesic is indeed that giant thing you can see in the sky, and it's compressing Jupiter into a black hole. Why? Because evil energies took over the entire GGG crew. So they fight GaoGaiGar... And Gai attempts to Hell and Heaven Galeon's black box to save it... But fails to, since apparently the evil energies in control of Genesic is too strong, and apparently Galeon only has just enough strength to roar and force distance between Gai and GaoGaiGar, before it explodes and dies.
My problem with this is two-fold. Remember how the narrator of FINAL says how they "struggled greatly for this inheritance"? GaoGaiGar dying here trivializes the time and effort they spent to finally reach GaoGaiGar, and feels like a cheap attempt at shock value.
If he is in fact _not dead,_ then that means they'll have to complete an ordeal to get him back. This re-treads grounds of not only the struggle to obtain Genesic and get an old friend back, but is kind of a re-skinned version of what happened with the Fake Mamoru and Fake Galeon.
Except, this time it isn't just one or two characters, they have to re-convert _the entirety of the original GGG cast_ who aren't the kids.
The point I left off on iirc had a fight with King JDer, where I'm pretty sure I remember everyone losing and dying, except apparently not, because possibly time shenanigans. If they are trying a yanking back and forth of battlefield advantage, not only was this already done in FINAL, it's far too early to attempt such a thing. I'll have to read further to see what happens, but I'm not impressed with what I've seen so far.

Somehow, I like goldion armor past the most. It's just satisfied me every time I heard it.
King of brave gaogaigar will be in my memory forever. It's my childhood and I think gaogaigar is the most beautiful super robot in every form it is. Design of all AI robots and Gadget tools is so creative too.
Because, my mom like robot anime. So, she bought gaogaigar CD for me to watched instead of girly anime that other mom should buy for a daughter. But, luckily it's made me like boy anime. After that, I mainly watched boy anime lol. But the fact, that because of my mom made me know gaogaigar series is can't deny it. That day until now is more than 10 year for me. The exciting when I first watch FINAL FUSION, GOLDION HAMMER and HELL AND HEAVEN scene.......I never forget it. It's really.....one of my precious memories.
I really hope sunrise will pay attention to super robot series more. In present, look like it's all of Gundam Gundam and Gundam. I know it's most popular and can made many benefits for sunrise but.....
At least, can sunrise make Hakai-oh gaogaigar vs Betterman to be anime if possible?
