5:31 For the people that are watching this the day I post this comment. Knife Project has changed, so for the door, you would 1. Click the plane and go into edit mode with the whole plane selected in edit mode as well 2. Select the cube that is going to make the door frame 3. go into mesh and click Knife Project 4. Your done and may continue the video :) I hope this helps the people that are stuck with the Error "no other selected object have wire or boundary edges to use for projection"
@@Bradley_TL Basically you click the plane body, then with that go into edit mode with the plane body still selected, press A to select the whole plane body then click the cube that is going to make the door, go into mesh and then knife project. I hope this is more clear. I hope this makes my statement more clear to you.
For the knife project part - if when you cut through it and it doesn't cut straight - you need to go into orthographic view. That's the area with the X,Y,Z on the top right. Knife project cuts where your camera is, so you should always be in orthographic view for it to cut nicely.
A few tips: When Alt-Clicking to select loops, click on the diagonal edge, not the center of the face. That tells blender in which direction you want to select a loop. And when you're selecting the interior cutout of the door, simply select a single plane, and hit command/control-L to select all linked verts since that cutout is already separate from the rest of the hull. When doing the windows, don't duplicate them by hand. Just use an array modifier on the cutter so you can have precise and consistent spacing. Although, I feel like this entire thing would be done easier with booleans.
whenever I try to knife project a mesh it says error no other selected objects have wire or boundary edges to use for projection. I don’t know how to fix it
my second go on blender , i managed to get a good plane made, will be doing the interior today, looking to learn how to make a door which elevates down with steps built in and eventually a lifting ramp at the rear.
Good evening, my friend, I don't know if you are irrelevant or relevant, but since you do this whole thing with the knife, then when you put the texture in the reflection, it distorts with the result that it is not at all correct, am I right?
When I make the door outline and window outline and I click "Knife project", it just says "No other selected objects have wire or boundary edges to use for projection". How do I fix it? (Airbus A380)
Knife project has received several updates since this video, so you need to do this instead: 1: Make sure the object you are protecting is 2D and doesn't have any 3D geometry like a cube (Just delete everything else if using a cube) 2: Go to object mode, select the object you will be projecting onto (fuselage) and go to edit mode 3 Ctrl+Click on the cutter object while in edit mode, and then try knife project. Hope this works if you haven't fixed it yet, it may also help others having issues
after i seperate the frames of the doors on the plane, the fuselage around it warps and it looks very weird edit: nvm i realized that i had a solidify modifier in my fuselage so i removed it
@@1fresh450 i think i know. I had this problem too. I would probably try removing the fronts of the shape and also click a when your in edit mode and have selected both of them. Hope this helps

This was literally the best tutorial for making a plane on UA-cam, it is so simple yet so helpful, I really enjoyed it

Can you make a texture for this because I want to put this model in Roblox. Also the knife project wont work for me

how did you get so smooth blueprints cos mine sucks and have mega pixels
Hey dude you are very good at explaining things. Do you know when you are going to do the cockpit windows or nah?
You should do videos on finding nice blueprints like the one you used which have detailed drawings on em
Sure! That's sounds great!

Thank you!
When will part 2 for the engine tutorial come out?
Sorry for the late reply, it will be coming out soon.
When will u publish the video on how to make the cockpit windows and wings?
As I'm not continuing this A320 series. I am starting a new one where I will make another plane.
@@1fresh450 Ok.
When i click knife project i get the error:No other selected objects have wires or boundary edges to use this projection.
