    Thank you so much for posting this! I am a beginner and watched this probably 50 times while making my own (I especially love that you included the measurements!) I doubled the width and it turned out beautifully. I will keep watching for more step by steps like this one!

    I ended up extending the pattern length by about 30% (added an extra square knot row with space on each side) and used 20 pieces of cord instead of 12 to make it wider, I was shooting for about 12 inches in width and 60 inches long.
    With a foot of fringe on each end the finished product is 10 inches wide and 54 inches long - I think only 12 pieces would create a 6-8 inch wide runner. Next time I will double the # of cords to 24 and add a bit of length as well. I hope this helps others looking to adjust the pattern to fit their table :) Thank you for the great tutorial!!

      Please, can you tell me if I add strings to increase the width, I do need to add length of strings, no?
      What's the proportion to that ?
      Thank you so much !

      @@reginachan5973 Hmm I'm not sure! I am by no means an expert, just experimenting to see what works. I think adding more cords just increases the width of the final product, having longer cords and adjusting the pattern so you're knotting a few extra rows should make it longer. I'm trying again and doing 24 cords wide, each 10 feet in length and hoping to get to that 60 inch long final product :)

    Thanks for this design and tutorial. It’s easy to follow and very pretty when complete. I used a thinner cord and ended up having approx 1-1.5 meters left on each cord. It made a runner just over 1 m long by approx 25 cm wide. It is shorter than expected but still very pretty. Thank you. I will make this again using either a thicker cord or repeat the pattern to make a longer runner.

    I have pre - cut some lengths of nrlon cord to approx. 11 feet long, planning on doing a different pattern for a friend of mine. When I found *this* pattern, I wanted to do *it* instead. Can you please figure out what changes I would need to make to be able to use this pattern, please, with the length of cord I have? Can I start the "square knots" at the top of the rope, near the "pole" you placed the ropes on and have it work out? Also, how long should I make the length of the ropes between the fist and second, and, third and fourth rows of the square knots? ETC? You see? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands, and, it "takes" *A LOT* out of them when I have to untie knots 'n' such. Thank you for any help you can give me.

      12 lengths of 5 meter cord makes a 1 meter long runner. So I’d expect you’d need to double the measurements (12 lengths of 10 meter cord). Hope this helps ☺️

    This is Gorgeous! How wide is the table runner? I would like to make this 12-14 inches wide. How would I adapt the pattern?

    • @OhSoHygge
      @OhSoHygge  6 років тому +3

      I can't remember the width of this piece but it's very easy to make to your required size. I hope this makes sense....When you make your initial square knot this will be the centre of your piece ok. So from this point you are making square knots either side to form an arrow - don't worry this is all shown in the video...Sooooo to make your table runner to be 12-14 inch wide all you need to do is keep adding lengths of rope either side. Then keep making square knots to form that arrow shape until that arrow shape reaches your required width. I hope this make sense. Simply put - you're just increasing the number of the knots to the pattern I'm showing you in the tutorial...😊

    • @OhSoHygge
      @OhSoHygge  6 років тому +2

      Hi Katie 😊So this pattern made a table runner about 3 feet long so to get a 8ft table runner you would times the pattern by 3. So each strand would need to be 15 meters instead of 5. Hope this helps! Good luck!

    BEAUTIFUL runner and great tutorial, except you made a big blunder by not showing the runner in its entirety and giving the finished width and length of the runner, so that we can put it into perspective relative to our own tables. Don't make people have to ask in the comments. You didn't respond to any inquiries about the width or how to make it wider. Also, I see that you say your finished runner is 40 meters long. But again, you haven't shown the runner in its entirety, and you haven't clarified if your measured length includes the fringe. When people make DIY tutorials of this type, it's important to remember that the custom measurement that works for you will not necessarily work for the rest of the world. Everyone's decor and furnishings are unique. So it's important to (1) specifically state the measurements you are using and (2) including instructions on how to make adjustments to achieve different measurements. You have the makings of a wonderful tutorial video for a beautiful runner, but there is much room for improvement so that it can be a win-win for everyone. Food for thought.
